How can I respond to..."They are children of Satan"???!

:eek: My older brother and young nephew were challenging my Catholic faith and at one point I began to discuss witnessing the faith to others and praying together at functions where Catholics, Non-Catholic Christians, Jews and Muslims gather to work together and support the community. Both of them were horrified that I would pray with Muslims who are “Children of Satan”. I defended all people on earth as children of God and expressed my outrage and shock that they would speak of anyone in such a way AND preach that praying to My God together with them is wrong. I am at a stunned loss. Where does this come from??? What should I tell them esp biblically to sway them back to the truth that Christ’s sacrifice is infinite and that everyone here on earth is to be guided to Christ even if it means going to “where” they are first as a witness of His Love???
 
I don’t know of any Catholic teaching that say Muslims’ are “children of Satan”.

Did you ask them where did they get this idea?
 
there is a need to seperate the anti-Christian theology of a person from that person themself.

any person, no matter how convinced and devoted to a Christ-denying belief or faith is still made in the image of God, and ultimately in God’s care. they may be influenced by a belief which is not Godly or holy in origin, but that does not diminish their worth as a human being.

theologically Muslims deny the Sonship, deity, crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. these are certainly beliefs which are anti-Christian, and not inspired by God, the Father. as a result it could be safe to say that devout Muslims are deeply under Satanic influence (as any spiritual belief which opposes Christ as God’s unique Son and our only Saviour is not of God), but to call Muslims themselves “children of Satan” is a bit much.

it is not wrong to associate with or help anyone, of any faith.

And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? (Matthew 5:47)
 
I would ask them when Christ gave them the authority to judge others. Their attitude lacks charity tremendously and puts their own salvation in peril. If anyone who calls his brother a fool is liable to judgement as Christ says, how much more liable to judgement those who call others children of Satan?
 
Most Muslims are Muslims because their parents were Muslims and they’re following suit. It’s only normal. I think history has more to do with their Islamic faith in their lives than a diabolical influence. Islam is a diabolically-founded religion but the individual adherents of Islam don’t necessarily have diabolical hearts. They’re misguided thanks to history and the choices of their ancestors by and large.
 
Instead of being horrified I would leave your children alone. Instead of running around bare-foot and singing kumbai, they are smart enough to see the difference between the Jewish, Christian, Muslim faith. I don’t know if you watch the news, but two muslim women blew themselves up in Moscow and killed 30 people.
Scolding them for disrespecting Catholicism is one thing, pretending that Islam is the same thing as Judaism and Christianity is another.

I just keep crying over the venom of it all. How can so called Christians be so foolish and cruel?:crying::crying::crying:
 
Did Satan create them? No, God did and He made them in His image, so they are God’s children (just like biological parents are parents because they “made” their kid). Saying that they are Satan’s children elevates Satan to the level of God, saying that he too can create people. It’s just wrong on so many levels.

There is a big difference between the radical fringe of the Muslim religion and those who are trying to follow God the only way they know how.
Your response is flavored like saying all Catholic priests are pedaphiles!

Paragraph 841 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church seems to imply that it’s in order for Catholics to treat Muslims with respect, scil:
841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”

Catholics and the Church condemned priest molesters. The majority of Muslims have remained silent concerning this lunatic fringe. See the difference?
By the way, do you know how large this “fringe” actually is?
Your mentality is dangerous.

There is this verse in John…8:44

"You are of your father the devil,
and you want to do the desires of your father.
He was a murderer from the beginning,
and does not stand in the truth
because there is no truth in him.
Whenever he speaks a lie,
he speaks from his own nature,
for he is a liar and the father of lies." NASB

If Satan is their father, then they are children of Satan

But Jesus was directing this to a group of Jews not Muslims

(wierd, this verse and check out my number of postings :D)

God uses his creation to interact with humanity. When you have men, children and women strapping bombs upon themselves and flying planes into buildings ( anyone else here loose 3,000 neighbors) and they all belong to a specific religion, one can wonder whether God is trying to tell us something. Forgiveness is one thing, political correctness is another.

That’s because they don’t want to get blown up 🙂 There’s zero risk to condemning priest molesters, they’re going to be in jail. You would want to be careful, especially as a Muslim and if you wanted your family to live, to condemn a terrorist group.

On the other hand, I must agree with aborodki, Christianity is not the same as Islam or Judaism, they reject Christ! That, however, is not a reason to be hateful or intolerant with them. We must be educated on differences, but not judge others because of them.

Instead of crying pointlessly, stand up, wake up, defend your faith and your country. Or have you forgotten that the God of the Old Testament is the God of the New as well?

This was directed to a group of Jews who had hardened their hearts against the teachings of Christ. We cannot blame many who haven’t been exposed to the Truth because of the way their family has raised them. Those addressed by Jesus, above, and seen and heard the truth and were still refusing to see it.

I did not say anything about forgiveness, and OP did not say anything about suicide bombers. Neither you, OP’s friend nor anyone else has the authority to call anyone a child of Satan nor to infer that they are doomed to hell. God alone, as Jesus in the cited scripture passage, has that right. PC has no place in current discussion

Weird,but as I read the text it is addressing those working against Jesus and is dealing with the father of LIES. Jesus proclaims that He is the Truth, the Way and the Life. He does not condemn an entire population. Have a missed some of His Message? Are we to abandon whole countries? I’m I mistaken…is His Sacrafice finite???:tsktsk:
