It is not so very long ago, within my lifetime, that many Americans, even Christians, called ALL Russians or all communists “children of Satan”. Were they right? Had they the authority to condemn all Russians or any Russians to hell based on their own emotions or political views, or their fears?

All Americans were shaken by the Terrorist attacks of 9/11, and I’m guessing you are a little bit more upset now because of the attacks in Russia (your tag thing says your Russian Orthodox, so I’m assuming you are Russian, though you might just be a part of that jurisdiction).

It doesn’t matter how many people actually have terrorist inclinations, and how many don’t. If there is even one Muslim that is not a terrorist, then by stereotyping those people, we are hurting that one person. And, btw, I know there are at least 3 Muslim non-terrorists who are my very close friends. If we embrace the negative discourse of the attackers, then we are sinking to their level and committing the same atrocities, or at least justifying them.

All groups of people have committed terrible acts. The Christians, the Jews, the Muslims, the Athiests, the Americans, etc., nobody is perfect. We cannot judge an entire population because it seems to be their century to mess up.
It is true that not all Muslims are terrorists, but Islam encourages this behavior, and it has been going on for 1,400 years, not just the past century. Read their book - it is all right there. Yes, not all Muslims are violent. There are many who do not know what their religion actually espouses, because reading and reflection are discouraged in Islam. And I am very tired of the “other groups did bad things, too” line. Many other groups have moved on. Islam has not. Be charitable in Christian love, yes. Forgive, yes. But do not turn a blind eye to the truth.

To the OP, I would say the fact that Muslims are attending an interfaith prayer gathering could be a good sign. Perhaps you will have a chance to be a witness for Christ and lead one (or more) of them to Him. 👍

Heaven will rejoice if we can reach out and rescue even one.:extrahappy:

Won’t that just drive Satan crazy:highprayer:

Did this posting of this blogspot mean to show me how hopelessly off my brother is??

 My older brother and young nephew were challenging my Catholic faith and at one point I began to discuss witnessing the faith to others and praying together at functions where Catholics, Non-Catholic Christians, Jews and Muslims gather to work together and support the community. Both of them were horrified that I would pray with Muslims who are “Children of Satan”. I defended all people on earth as children of God and expressed my outrage and shock that they would speak of anyone in such a way AND preach that praying to My God together with them is wrong. I am at a stunned loss. Where does this come from??? What should I tell them esp biblically to sway them back to the truth that Christ’s sacrifice is infinite and that everyone here on earth is to be guided to Christ even if it means going to “where” they are first as a witness of His Love???
Hello…

First, I think it’s important to understand that not everyone on earth is considered God’s children…and this was established from the beginning.
[Genesis 3:15] And I will put enmity between you [Serpent] and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.
Of course, we all know that the serpent was Satan…
[Revelation 20:2] He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.
So Satan’s seed; satan’s offspring were established as hostile enemies from the beginning; and that generations of the devil’s children will war with generations of God’s.

…This should also help us understand how it is possible that the same God (of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel) is recorded killling so many people in the history of the bible…God will fiercely defend His children from any enemy.]

Now, the next question becomes, “how do we distinguish between Satan’s children and God’s Children?”

Well there are two things that “mark” those as God’s Children, without which “mark” those as Satan’s:
[Revelation 14:12 NLT] This means that God’s holy people must endure persecution patiently, obeying [God’s] commands and maintaining their faith in [Christ].
…anyone else…EVERYONE else possesses another “mark” from another “father”. These two requirements “pierce the veil” of every religion because not everyone follows the commandments of God AND maintain the testimony of Christ, even in Christianity.

So was Christ’s sacrifice for everyone on planet earth? No. Christ’s sacrifice IS perpetual (continuous) but in was caused only to reconcile God’s Children, not anyone else. And yet, the great thing about God’s plan is that ANYONE can possess the (two) keys to the kingdom (“Obedience to God” & “Testimony of Christ”) and when that happens, they are immediately adopted into the family (like a grafted branch to the tree of life); no longer a “seed of Satan”…and Christ’s blood now covers them too. But they must posssess these two keys in order to be adopted. There are no exceptions.

Narrow is the gate that leads to life, while broad and wide is the gate that leads to destruction.

Praying to God, to Your God, is perfectly alright for all of you to do, because - remember - even Christ sat and ate with people whom the “Pharasees (Ultra Religous)” considered “unclean”. So offer your family members any account of Christ’s ministry as it relates to the Gentiles (representing “foreign or pagan” groups of people): when he fellowshipped with Roman Guard in guard’s home, saved the harlot from being stoned; ate food with disciples without they washing their hands…I recall an event with a tax collector also. Read the 4 Gospels and find your meat to feed to them.

Read it…sooooooooooooooo…are you saying that Satan has his grasp on all 1.6-1.8 billion of these people, that his hold is stronger than our faith, that since the words of this religion have been taught to them they are doomed and we should not witness our faith to them because they are all part of the antiChrist movement on earth…
…really!!!..no really???:takethat:

I, for one, reject the notion that anyone one earth is so far removed from our God that His Grace cannot save them if they will accept it…but how can they accept unless someone is “Christ to them” and explains??? Did this not happen for the eunich?:hmmm: Acts 8: 26-40

If you condemn them all, are you willing to give your defense before our Judge? Will you listen to the gospel message??:knight2:

Was Christ sacrifice for everyone on this planet??? Yes,:extrahappy: because everyone on this planet is welcomed if they accept what God asks of them.

It is not our role to determine who can or can’t or will or won’t open their hearts. We are sent to all, to all nations. We will be hated and killed in some places. We will be rejected in some homes. Christ foretold this. He never told us to pick and choose who to show His Love to. Or is there a verse that does say to forsake some to the devil?:nope:

The more they see the Light, the more they will follow. Yes, September 11th was horrible for us as a nation. The evil that is directed at us must never make us forget what Christ asks of us. Putting pain behind and continuing to witness to all who will listen is our calling.:yyeess:

Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.

Words are always necessary. If Jesus had taken a vow of silence and said nothing His whole life nobody would have been any the wiser.

no prob w/ that…

but tolerance is worshpped in the US… and uh… i’m not worshipping such a thing when it means the death of Americans…

we have to be realistic about muslims… Most probably are peace loving… Most of the people in Iran dont w ant to have anything to do with jihad and its terirble goals… i feel sorry for them…

but sometimes people worship so called Charity… and think they have to show affection toward someone even if that someone is trying to kill people… uh… Tiller, etc…

people dont need the affection of humans… they need the real love that only God can give… and if one has God… loves God … he will not be into killing… its really as simple as that… Humans are aggravating… but they are created in God’s image…

seems to me some muslims dont get that… but then some Christians dont either… including yours truly in some bad moments… 🤷

No, words are not always necessary. Our actions speak and draw others to us if we are allowing the Light of God to shine forth. People first judge us not by what we say but by what we do and how we treat them.

No, words are not always needed. We proclaim Christ crucified.

I don’t dare to imagine that I can touch every Muslim by word or deed. I ask and continue to ask how we can cast them aside and label them sons of Satan (God made them) when all on this planet are still able to be covered by the Blood of the Lamb and come into the Light. They are lost and we are sent to find and proclaim are we not???:knight2:

If words are not needed why have Catholic Answers Forums? It’s impossible to engage people if you don’t communicate with them using words. When Christ walked the earth, He first told people to repent and then began to teach them in parables (cf. the Synoptic Gospels, beginning at Matthew 13). Very often, when He was asked questions, He responded by asking a question Himself. His intention, as most thinking people can now see using hindsight, was to get His listeners to think and reflect. Thus He slowly and painstakingly prepared them to receive the earth–shattering message that He was the Son of God, which message necessarily had to be conveyed and gradually received in words. He was indeed the Master Teacher.

My conclusion, then, is that if He hadn’t used words we wouldn’t know that He is the Word and you’d have nothing to proclaim. 🙂

However, I’ve no wish to debate the point so I’ll let you have the last word – although you may prefer to stay silent since that would be commensurate with the life application you appear to be advocating for Christians. 😛

Logically,
Mick

What St. Francis of Assisi probably meant to say was that “actions speak louder than words”. Which means, if we know all the theology of the faith, but are not kind or merciful, etc, our words are useless.

Most commentators agree on that and if he’d actually used the phrase you’ve adduced there would be no danger of people inferring something potentially dangerous. But thanks for the timely interpolation. 🙂

Appreciatively,

Your original statement was “words are always necessary”
I never said words were never necessary.
I stand firm…and as is obvious by the fact that I choose to reply to your’s and other’s posts, the fact that I use words when needed is evident.:tiphat:
