How can pro-choice Catholics seriously call themselves practicing Catholics?

Polifact is a left leaning “fact checker”- they are not unbiased.

As for Sanger - she addressed the women’s wing of the KKK. (From her biography I believe ).

Other than one being a white supremacist there really isn’t any reason one might want to address or associate in any way with the Klan.
Here’s what Snopes has to say about it:
Sanger once addressed female KKK members in a bid to have her message heard as widely as possible, but she both openly described that meeting and disparaged the group’s mission in her writings, and a photograph supposedly depicting that talk (or a similar one) is fabricated.

I’m no fan of Margaret Sanger who was a supporter of eugenics. But I’m not convinced that she was a racist.

Are the truly pro-choice? Or do they question many of the typical “pro-life” agenda?

I’m against abortion, but I’m apprehensive over attempts to criminalize it. In America, our prison systems are already overcrowded and the War on Drugs was ineffective. How would a War on Abortion work? I agree that abortion must be stopped… But I just don’t see the usual pro-life methods working to truly put an end to it.

I’m also not certain politicians really want to stop abortions. Most pro-life people I know are in favor of improving social programs to try and curb abortions. I can’t same the same about so-called pro-life politicians.

I think I’m going to leave this conversation. It was interesting while it lasted, but it’s a subject that I rarely ever think about and it’s not something that I’m passionate about. I’m sure that most people on one extreme or another of this issue think that it’s all very black and white, either the imperative to protect women’s rights or to protect unborn children. But to me, there are a lot of gray areas that don’t have easy solutions. Not having thought or talked much about any of this before, I’m sure that my answers have plenty of inconsistencies in them.

And I’m not going to try very hard to defend Margaret Sanger, someone I hardly knew anything about before this discussion. Even if she wasn’t a racist, her support for eugenics is itself quite atrocious, although perhaps she can be forgiven since she had a lot of company in that period among quite a few other famous and in some cases admirable people who also believed what she did. So, at least for now, I’m going to bow out and leave the die-hard warriors on both sides to fight this issue while I return to the sidelines.

Pure and unadulterated and shocking lack of intelligence. Shocking to offer this as argument.

This entire thread becomes quite unnecessary and, at times, laughable.

There can be no Catholic position that accepts, advocates, facilitates, tolerates a pro-choice, pro-abortion, pro-murder perspective on this topic.

Those of you who argue contrarily are: unbelieving abusers of the one true faith; intentional deceivers or poorly formed humans whose perspective is so hopelessly flawed that your arguments become illiterate caricatures.

There is NO ROMAN CATHOLIC perspective that allows for pro-choice thought on this topic.
There is only one descriptive therefore: HERESY.

Should that accommodate your yearnings, fine. Stop the foolish insistence that you are in communion with this faith. YOU ARE NOT.

PERIOD…mic drop.

There it is said…

Doesn’t matter if you are pro choice or pro life, if you are Baptized into the Roman Catholic Church; you are Catholic.

You have practicing Catholics, lapsed Catholics, Good Catholics, and Bad Catholics.

None of us should be trying to label each other into the good and bad category . ever. It causes way too many problems and does no good to anyone.

Is it a bit of irony to say one is pro choice and a practicing catholic, is it hypocritical, yes. Is it everyones job to scold said person, and shun them an make them feel like crap ? Is it everyones job to get waist deep in the persons life an hammer on how wrong they are ?

It isn’t my job or mission in life, I personally do not have the energy to waste on the pro choice movement which is becoming a full on pro abortion movement. If anything, it is up to the Catholic Friends and Family of these Catholic pro choice / abortion people, and their respective priests to do the very hard and delicate work of changing their mind on this position.

What good does it really do, to be as insane as the left, put on pink hats, scream at the sky, slobber all over each other, and hold banners and make new movements for every time their rear itches ? For me none, protesting is just a waste of time and energy, so is counter protesting. About as pointless as debating anything ever. At least debating in an arena where no change can take place because the ones debating can not enact any change. Due to lack of power . or money,or both.

You will find that “Catholics” who don’t actually attend mass are very left-leaning, on the average. So, pro-life Catholics (a bit redundant, I know) should not become discouraged by skewed polls or surveys that include non-church-going “Catholics” in their numbers.

I’ve never heard of a human embryo turning into a frog. Independent of religion, the pro-life position is supported by science.

Good job, Edwest. Clearly, one of the heroes of the left had a lot of troublesome beliefs, and tragic implementing of those beliefs.

Actually it may make sense for a Catholic to be pro-choice. Catholics believe (correct me if I am wrong) that the soul of the aborted fetus goes directly to heaven for eternity. So it may be good for the fetus - it will not suffer during life on earth and there is no chance that it will end up in hell like many people who commit mortal sins on earth or like the many people who are not Christian. By letting the fetus be aborted you are guaranteeing him an immediate spot in heaven.

Rather surprised that PP doesn’t use your logic in a marketing campaign. Can’t you see the ads:

“Murder your baby now - send it straight to heaven. Your soul? We’re not so sure about”

With that “logic” , not only should you be willing to murder the unborn but also the newly born and the just confessed!
The newly born has rights as a citizen and a human being. So I definitely would not be willing to do that. Besides I am Hindu and don’t believe they go directly to heaven in either case, they just come back in a new body until they achieve enlightenment.

I don’t think that the Catholic Church has a specific position on the fate of the souls of aborted babies. It has always been a doctrine that Baptism is required to enter heaven, and abortion denies the child a chance for Baptism. One can postulate Baptism of Desire or Baptism of Blood, but that is at this point theological speculation.
