How can we prove that the Eucharist is, in fact, the actual Body and Blood of Christ?

We can’t, only God can.

Knowing and believing are two words that do not mean the same thing even tho many seem to not believe this.

Even believing fervently is not the same as knowing.

Seems to me that whether one believes or one knows, one should be thankful.

No words we can ever say, no evidence we can show will ever convince a doubting heart of the truth which the faith professes.

However, time spent before the Blessed Sacrament expressing one’s doubts to Him will, with patience, lead to a powerful consolation by the Holy Spirit. Following this, nothing can ever convince that Christ is not present.

Wouldn’t the “consolation” be from Jesus since it is Jesus in the “Blessed Sacrament” not the Holy Spirit?

Remember that the Holy Spirit - the Consoler - proceeds from both the Father and the Son. And, it is by and through the Holy Spirit that all good is done on this earth. And, as nebulous as our concept of the Holy Spirit may be; as neglected and forgotten as He is from day to day, He always was and is now a Divine Person. It is also by the power of the Holy Spirit that the bread and wine are consecrated into the Body and Blood of Christ.

Yet, the Holy Spirit is not entirely separate from Father and Son, as they exist in a triune unity. He does not come without them, and neither Does Jesus come without both Father and Holy Spirit in ways that we cannot imagine.

“Both” in this instance serves to distinguish Catholics from our brothers and sisters who believe that the Spirit proceeds from the Father through the Son. And, you know who I am speaking of…

No one here even mentioned the Miracle of Lanciano officially recognized by the Catholic Church as a Eucharistic miracle.

In the city of Lanciano, Italy, around 700, a Basilian hieromonk was assigned to celebrate Mass in the small church of St. Longinus. Celebrating in the Latin Rite and using unleavened bread, the monk had doubts about the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.[1][2]

During the Mass, when he said the Words of Consecration (“This is my body. This is my blood”), with doubt in his soul, the priest is said to have seen the bread change into living flesh and the wine change into live blood which coagulated into five globules, irregular and differing in shape and size (the number supposedly corresponds to the number of wounds Christ suffered on the cross: one in each hand and foot from the nails, and the wound from the centurion’s spear).

According to Bob and Penny Lord, the first test in 1574 found that each of the five different “pellets of coagulated Blood”, though varying in size, all weigh the same and always produced the same weight no matter how many are simultaneously weighed.

Linoli’s examination

The examination in 1971 was performed by Odoardo Linoli, a professor in anatomy and pathological histology as well as chemistry and clinical microscopy, and Ruggero Bertelli, a professor of the University of Siena. The report was published in Quaderni Sclavo di Diagnostica Clinica e di Laboratori in 1973.

Linoli’s conclusions

The following conclusions were drawn by Odoardo Linoli:
The flesh is real flesh and the blood is real blood
The flesh and the blood belong to the human species
The flesh consists of the muscular tissue of the heart
In the flesh we see present in section: the myocardium, the endocardium, the vagus nerve and also the left ventricle of the heart for the large thickness of the myocardium. The flesh is a heart complete in its essential structure.
The flesh and the blood have the same blood type, AB
In the blood there were found proteins in the same normal proportions (percentage-wise) as are found in the sero-proteic make-up of fresh normal blood
In the blood there were also found these minerals: chlorides, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, sodium and calcium
Both the flesh and the blood showed no evidence of preservatives (or other added chemical agents of any kind) being used.

I agree with you and it is not like it is some obscure mention.

Jesus kinda went out of His Way to make it plain that what it sounded like He said was exactly what He said and meant.

I am neither a bible scholar nor a linguist but I do tend to listen and I have heard that “Eat My Flesh” is translatable to something akin to “gnaw on”.

I look at this in a number of ways, one of which is to “ponder”.

I am neither a bible scholar nor a linguist but I do tend to listen and I have heard that “Eat My Flesh” is translatable to something akin to “gnaw on”.

I look at this in a number of ways, one of which is to “ponder”.

Yes–and I believe he also uses a word for drink that is very physical.

Catholics (and Orthodox) certainly take the human nature as embodied seriously–we are saved not just through our heads, but through our bodies also!

This, and similar things, are one reason why I believe that the Catholics are more consistent in their faith. Then there are such things as the fact that “sola Scriptura” is non-Biblical, as well as “sola fidei” . . .
