It was not a matter of finding a church which adhered to what I believed. Rather, it was I who had to conform to the Teachings. I had to change to become Christian.
Jesus founded the Catholic Church on Peter. There is an unbroken line of Popes directly from Peter, even if we weren’t calling them Popes. If we want to follow Christ, we must renounce ourselves. Placing our own beliefs over the Teachings of the Church is prideful and arrogant, assuming that “I” know best.
If I come across a Teaching with which I disagree, I must assume that I am wrong and learn why the Church teaches as She does. I never assume that I am right and that the Church must change.
