Wow. I was hoping for a more substantive thread than, “Most/all the vegans I know are insert-insulting-generalization-here.”
If all you can set your prejudices aside, this conversation could take a more interesting turn to how, if at all, vegetarianism and veganism play into pro-life issues . . . .

Complete cognitive dissonance. I guess we all have some inconsistencies but that would be the greatest. I guess they would add that they are not trying to put their preference in to law as Pro-Life activists are.
Anymore my vegan lifestyle is becoming more and more spiritual. I try to be a good steward of my body but i often think, “is this hot wing really going to do anything? yum yum.” But what I need is the ongoing spiritual mindfulness and more consistent dietary boundaries helps me to be more mindful of what I am trying to do spiritually, how I am trying to be mindful of Christ in my heart. So when I eat i am triggering my spiritual goal. I am reminded and reinforcing my commitment.
So I guess my dietary commitment is a symbol for my spiritual commitment more than anything else. It could also be more healthy but in this life anything can happen at anytime to derail our health efforts.

Count me in as someone who only knows vegans who are vehemently pro life.
My old roommate and a coworker. Old roommate was also a lesbien with a whole host of other problems…but she was the one who introduced me to prolife means anti abortion.
Coworker is a vegan catholic who is staunchly prolife.
