I just don’t understand why supposeded catholics can’t follow rules set by their spiritual leaders, and by the ten commandments . For example birth control and condoms. They are strictly forbidden yet people always try to justify their uses. Same goes for abortion if the numbers i saw were correct than 50% of catholics think abortion is ok! Seems a little ridiculas to me. Any thoughts?
Hi Arron,

The truth Hurts, Those so called Catholics, who use birth control or condoms who are for abortions etc… are not Catholics at all they are lying to themselves.

Truth is if one does not follow the Catholic Church Teachings 100% they are not Catholics, plain and simple.

See Michael Moore on Larry King [Scroll down to May 3.]
Moore: Jeez, you know, I mean I go to Mass still. I’m a practicing Catholic. I’ve been that way all my life. But if I had – if I had gotten up every time I heard a priest from the pulpit in my travels around the country say things like I’ve heard them say, that birth control is a sin, that women should not be priests, that women should have a different role in church …
King: You’d be walking out all the time?
Moore: I would have been walking out so much – that would have been so much aerobic activity for me … I wouldn’t look like this.

For the record, secularism and atheism is permitted to be discussed and in fact encouraged. But not religion.
Hi

That is why i am of the opinion that ProtestantismCatholicism has become hollow in the West. Very silently AtheismAgnosticism or SecularismHumanism has taken over them and occupied them. The religious people should, in my opinion, wake up and get benefitted most from the peaceful advent of the PromisedMessiah 1835-1908 and his peaceful, reasonable and rational arguments in favour of Moral and Spiritual Values rather than the rampant materialism. This is the need of the hour.

Thanks

How come so many catholics can’t follow the Law of the Church
Hi

I think church and its teachings were founded by Paul; not by JesusYeshuaIssa; as at that time Jesus was on his journey to the East alongwith Mary.

In my opinion, if the CatholicsProtestants are follower of Jesus, they should insist, research and follow teachings of Jesus.

Of course Paul had differences rather enmity towards Jesus and his disciples.

Others are welcome to differ with me with sound and charitable reasons.

Thanks

Even if in addition they also listen to the authentic voice of the Church, many people in the pews simply don’t understand what the Church really teaches about her authority to teach. Even if they do, and they view the Church as one among many imperfect sources, then they are likely to just dismiss whatever they hear that seems to conflict with their other spiritual sources.
That is so true. I once had a friend tell me that he didn’t think the Catholic church was right. It was just more right than everyone else.

I don’t think people of ANY relligion follow the laws according to their beliefs as closely as they should. Catholics are no exception.
Exactly!! If anyone here has read the Bible, a pattern starts to emerge early and throughout Bible history. Even the holiest of men sinned, Moses and David for example. Look at St. Augustine and how he repented and turned his life around. We ALL are sinners, so why are Catholics held to a higher standard than other faiths? We all fall but those who are so quick to judge us are NOT there when we are in confession confessing to Jesus how sinful we were, are they? People better wake up and remember that Jesus taught us that WE WILL be JUDGED as WE judge OTHERS, so I would be very careful on knocking others and judging them so easily. We do NOT know what is in anyones heart, ever!!!
Always remember that God WILL make good out of bad.

Because the rules are at odds with the secular culture.

Doesn’t everyone have difficulties with their faith? Isn’t that why we pray to try to deepen our faith?

some priests cant abstain from sex, so you should expect a lot lot less from ordinary catholics. its human nature man. there was a show in discovery channel whichs says how life is all about sex. i mostly agree with that.
dont blame the Church for the misbehaven of its people. people can hardly be trusted. none of us know for sure which of one of us will fall tomorrow. i pray wont be me. what we have to realize is that people from the begining have a sinfull nature . Israel is a perfect example of rising and fallen from grace on and off. so are catholics. Jesus never said we would be perfect but He did promise He would be with us always. the apostles themselves failed many times and they were right there with the Master. It would be very easy to everybody to see the CC if all catholics lived perfect lives. but that is not the plan. the plan is: Jesus is the Center of His Church and not the people. therefore when we enter the CC we do not see anyone but Christ only. He is our main focus. we became one with Him. to remind Our God of hte sacrifice that His Son did for us. it is a divine worship out of this world is like we get taking out of the world and joined wiht hte angels and saints in Heaven. we kneel down and confess that Christ is the Lord.

know that in a household family not all may be able to follow the teaching of their parents some will some dont. it always be rebellious people. remember Abel and Cain? how about jacob and saul? Israel and hte Catholic have everything in common. then it was a country trying to lead the people to God. how many fell away? now we have Jesus Church to lead people to God and many has fallen away including rebellious religious groups which also work against the CC.

You are right. Some of the greatest Saints have fallen. But, what I can’t figure out, is why God allows some to go off track and lead an immoral life and then gives them a chance to redeem themselves later in life, while others die before having that same chance to redeem themselves. Can someone explain it to me?

As you noted, the weak were often chosen by God to carry out His Will. If a strong person achieves great things, it may be viewed as due to their own merits. If a weak one does, it is more evidence of God’s power.

God can choose the weak and sinful for a variety of purposes, but among them would be to show the power of God and also to show all of us that God’s Grace is available to everyone.

Care to back this up?

I think it’s a false assumption. No one knows the depths of the heart except for God, and we certainly don’t know what happens to a person at and just after the moment of death. I suspect we all get one last chance as we die to let God exalt us, though obviously it’s extremely foolish to bank on this.

Actually it is right. Those who observe the guidance of the Church do find their lives enriched.

Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!
AMEN! I can’t tell you how much better my life has been in recent years since I closed the “cafeteria” door and chose to follow the Church’s teachings – ALL of the Church’s teachings – to the best of my ability. God has blessed me in my obedience more than I can say.

And I agree with the poster who said that the proper verb in the title of this thread should be “won’t,” not “can’t.”

The Catholic Church is diverse. There is something there for everyone. Traditonalist, Conservative, Liberal, Pentecostal, Latin, Vernacular, Happy-Clappers or silent meditation.

Each understands according to how the Spirit leads them and the culture in which they live by which they make sense of and interpret the world.

It isn’t so much as Catholics ‘not following’ but interpreting ‘the faith’ according to their ability to understand and comprehend it and interpretations given them by their respective clergy who are themselves the products of the culture in which they live. 😉

What matters is that there is ONE Faith and ONE CHURCH appealing to an almost infinite magnitude of individuals each with their own unique history and experience.

Good points. Still doesn’t really explain why one might receive more mercy than another though.
