And is is Cornwell or Hochhuth who recanted, and admitted that he had not used resources well. Much of the anti-Pius campaign was initiated by the KGB.

Thank you everyone for bringing in the historically accurate points. I am quite glad that there are many others who recognize the inconsistency of the Black Legend.

History is so important… it clears up questions like that of the Black Legend, and can also answer the question originally posed by this thread. A big lesson we can all draw from this is basically, do research and find the facts before throwing something out there.

The Spanish Inquisition is a darned good example of the sanctioned violence and murder of the RCC. It is so sad that Catholics today try to hide from the truth of their dark history. The RCC support of Hitler and the Nazis would be another.
