Before 1000 AD achieve salvation? I believe there wasn’t Christianity within the continent

That has not been revealed to us.

We do know that God is both just and merciful and so if it is his will that all be saved he can provide for those who had no opportunity to respond to the Gospel in some manner.

I would suggest this entire section of the catechism, particular paragraphs 846-848

It’s a mystery. In the same vein – were Marcus Tullius Cicero or Marcus Porcius Cato the Elder saved? Or Confucius? or Minamoto no Yoshitsune? Or Vercingetorix? Or how about a random Brazillian tribesman in the rainforest today who has no knowledge of Christ? We don’t know, but we can hope. They never got to know Christ, but God may have still had mercy on them, and allowed them through the gift of his love to be with Him forever.

Or as Dante depicts it, perhaps they are in a Limbo of sorts, in a not unpleasant area that is neither Heaven nor Hell.

Ours is not to reason why, but to pray for those who have already passed by. 🙂

I would leave it into the hands of God and not Man.

We shouldn’t worry about the salvation of others, becuase our trust and hope should be with God.

Christ died for all, and I’m confident that people who died without knowing Christ are not sent to hell.

No one who is ignorant of Christ can reject Christ. Far worse are those who have heard and have rejected Him.

Paul says in the bible that the Pagans are judged by how they held to the teachings of God. That their actions will either condemn them or save them.
I forget the exact verse.

He was not trivializing the belief in God and creating a backdoor to heaven… but merely acknowledging a truth… that without Christ… they only have their lives as justification.
This means that though ignorant of God… they may be have still cooperated with his will, knowingly or unknowingly and therefore still be children of God in some way.

This still means that we are better off with the Grace of the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of Christ, then on our own.

A human analogy might be like a criminal trial.

The Christian has Christ and the Holy Spirit as their counsel and representation.

The non-Christian, only themselves as their defense.

And as the old saying goes… “He who represents himself, has a fool for a client”

Catechism para 847:
Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.

My personal opinion on how this translates is based on Jesus teachings re: Love (Mt 22:36-40)
“Those who seek (Agape) with a sincere heart, and moved by Grace (God’s Love), try in their actions to do His will…”

Peace
James
