At a Funeral
(I like to stop the story there
)
We met at the rosary for a friend of mine who was dating a friend of hers. We don’t really remember, but her sister (who was her ride) apparently left us and went and sat in the car and honked at us because she wanted to leave after the three of us were the last ones there that evening. The only reason I didn’t ask her for her number then was because I thought it would be tacky to do that at a funeral. She had to work during the actual funeral, so I didn’t see her again.
O and btw, my friend who died and myself where from my hometown, his girlfriend and all her friends were from another town about an hour away, where I happen to go to college, but never really talked to them because they were all high school aged and I was in college.
About 6 months later, his former girlfriend invited me to her birthday party and I went, but was considering leaving because of the age difference when in walks this girl I hadn’t seen in about 6 months, and more, someone my age. So we sat down in the back and talked all through whatever terrible movie the birthday girl wanted to watch until the party was over.
After that, we started talking first on facebook and then on AIM until the next semester started. At some point early in that next semester, we were both talking (chatting online) and realized we were both on campus and without lunch plans so we decided to eat together (that was when we exchanged phone numbers-hadn’t done that yet). That one time turned into a weekly and then biweekly thing and we slowly went from friends-who didn’t-have-anyone-else-to-eat-with to people kinda interested in each other to finally dating. And then I left for 14 weeks of Army training about 1.5 weeks later.
Now a year later, she is converting on Thursday and we are getting married Jul 31
