How do I debunk this?

In your opinion, where did we Catholics go wrong?
I think it was when Catholicism began to think of itself as a source of Truth, itself as a vehicle to salvation.

I just don’t think Jesus came to establish this thing called Catholicism. I don’t think Jesus would approve of a class of religious elites telling the common people what they must believe. Jesus came to common fishermen to start his Church. I think he intended it to spread through the common people.

You* did* ask for my opinion.

Thanks. I can accept that.

I’m curious as to how that relates to the differences in theology. Has general Protestant opinion of the Catholic Church changed? If so, for better or worse?

The biggest differences are in the application. Think Monarchy vs. Constitutinal Republic.

You mean, since 1517? I don’t think Protestant opinion of Catholicism has changed much. But we seem to have learned how to live together, mostly.

But remember we are talking about the Kingdom of Heaven, not the Democratic Republic of Heaven. Christ is King, not Prime Minister, and He left his Steward on earth to oversea things until He returns.

The Kingdom has not yet come.

So you say.
