Phil8888
Hate to break it to you but during the many years of war in Europe that stemmed from the Reformation atrocities and bad things were committed by both sides. Many of the Protestant leaders had death warrants placed on them, and many were actually executed, by the Catholic Church. Protestant places of worship were destroyed and taken as well. You have also failed to understand that many Cahtolic churches were converted over to protestant churchs it was because the majority of the town converted too. Guess that would be an example of attrition right…

(i.e. many of the pagans in an area converted to Christanity so the Pagan shrine was remade into a church).
This whole thread reminds me of the annoying evangelical girl in my exchange class in college. We were touring southern Germany and she would say silly things like…“How could the Catholic Church be so evil as to build these Cathedrals by exploiting the poor”…then follow it up after seeing an exhibit on the damage cause by the WWII allied bombings with “How could the allies be so evil as to bomb these beautiful Cathedrals”. Okay…yeah looking real smart there.
My answer to all of this is, doesn’t matter how it was built or why, God is using that church to work for his greater good now. Doesn’t matter to me if it’s a protestant built church, a catholic built church, or one that has been reperposed by wither side, God is working there now for his greater good. As to the WWII comment…I would happily have destroyed any protestant or catholic church if it had lead to the war ending sooner and saved even one more life.
Seriously Phil8888 get off your high horse. I don’t know if you meant to or not, but you are coming across very rude, and uneducated. When Catholics start expressing attitudes like this it makes those of us who are protestants glad we are not Catholic, and only serve to drive a wedge between everyone. We are supposed to be identified as Christians by our love, charity, and forgiveness. After 500 some odd years… maybe it’s time to drop the “you excommunicated me, you burned or stole my church, you sentenced me to death” talk and bury the hatchet.
