How do non-Catholics justify stealing Catholic Churches?

Right, these churches weren’t actually owned by the Catholic Church. They were built by the state and were used for the English church, which was at this time Catholic. When the Church split it changed from being the Church in England to the Church of England. The property stayed in hands of the state. No property was ‘stolen’.

No church in England before Henry’s time was built by the state. And they were indeed owned by the Church. What Henry did was sort of nationalize them. Nowadays they are state property. The CoE is Erastian.

This whole argument reminds me a lot of the wrestlng matches ongoing now between many Anglican parishes and dioceses leaving TEC (the dioceses are going to be really interesting), over whether the property is the property of the parish itself or of the national Church. The courts tend to hand it to the national Church, which is, in my oipinion, theft.

so they’re like, we don’t want to be members of the catholic church anymore, we’re just going to leave, oh yeh, by the way, we’re going to take this church with us. that’s like a family member saying, I’m no longer part of this family! by the way, could you get off my property now?

This is pure unadulterated and unsubstantiated hatred! May God forgive you for this travesty that you have created.
