hey, ufamtobie: How does one explain former catholics, catholic reverts, and catholics who marry other faiths? Was the ccc not enough, or were they just waxing prodigal?
I know you weren’t talking to me, but I’m so happy about it I have to share. My dad has been away from the Catholic Church for 30 years and married my mom who is Methodist. But a few months ago my dad came back to the Catholic Church, and this Easter, I, my mom and my wife (also Methodist) are coming into the Catholic Church. Sometimes prodigals do come home. And when they do they sometimes bring more back with them. God has a plan. I am so thankful for that. Especially this Easter.

1beleevr,

Are you one of the above?

You would not tell him about Jesus and that He died for him?
We were made for union with God. That is the ultimate reality. Jesus made this union possible by his atoning death on the cross. Thus, the only way that this poor soul would be able to be offered this Divine Marriage Proposal at his death, is because Jesus Christ made it possible.

So, if I had one minute to talk to this poor fella, I would first tell him not to turn his back on God–don’t say no to the Divine Marriage Proposal!!–and then, if time, I would perhaps give a mini-sermon on Soteriology, provided he was lucid enough to digest all of this. I would tell him, “Christ paid a debt he didn’t owe because we owed a debt we couldn’t pay.”

Heavens no!! Lifelong noncatholic; just wondering, as you were ragging on Protestants, just curious about those who leave the catholic church and why? Are they searching for more, or different? I know a catholic girl who is happily married to a Baptist, neither of them palanning on converting!

No, I wasn’t talking about you, but I am praying for you, and I wish nothing but good things for you and your family in your upcoming endeavor!👍

Is this your own personal view, or can you share how you know this?

You know, someone asked me if I thought Judas was in Heaven or Hell, and I said, "Only God knows the answer to that question:D Satan was allowed to enter Judas, because, as per prophecy, Jesus had to be betrayed an dhanded over to be crucified! The Jews knew that they had no authority to execute anyone, so they had to convince the Romans that Jesus was trouble and had to be killed! It was all part of God’s beautiful, amazing plan! So you see, Judas was used by God too, to betray Christ!

1beleevr,

Ragging, I know the truth hurts, but the truth will set you free. Amen

FYI, those who have left the Catholic Church, were not truly catholics, if they were true Catholics they would have never left. As for the Catholic Girl that you know good for her.

There has been many so called catholics who never attended Mass or perhaps on occasions only who have left the church, even Judas the Betrayer left. But on the contrary there are Many learned protestant pastors, who leave their church and somtimes with their whole congragation who come into the Catholic Church. Amen

Did God also plan for Judas to kill himself ??
Is it your belief that suicide is not a sin?
Is dieing a death by your own hand because you can’t be forgiven God’s plan?

Who knows what the answer to that question is:cool: When you have the devil inside of you, you are capable of many vile and despicable things! There has been many a discussion about whether suicide is a sin or not, but I believe that you are taking a life so…! Judas did sort of repent, when he returned the money, and stated,“I have betrayed innicent blood!” Is dying by your own hand, because you don’t believe you are covered by grace and wprthy of forgiveness? Do you not believe that Judas was part of God’s plan? If not him, it would have been someone else:thumbsup:

So, if they leave the church, you sell them short and call them, not ytue catholics? And what of the girl who married a Baptist? Is she okay, or does he have to convert?

God planned Judas to commit sin??
Are you a predestined type believer?Or are you saying that God ,knowing that Judas would turn from Christ , used Judas’s lack of faith for His purpose?

Is it not written of those that taught false doctrine “where of us but left so thus they weren’t truly with us” not the exact words but close. Is this selling them short and calling them not true?

That is indeed, true, and yet, paradoxically, if they are baptized, then they’re never really apart from us. They have an indelible mark on their souls and are our brothers and sisters in Christ–even if they choose to leave His Body.

From the CCC: Baptism seals the Christian with the indelible spiritual mark (character) of his belonging to Christ. No sin can erase this mark, even if sin prevents Baptism from bearing the fruits of salvation.

The “exceptions to the rules” are for other people - not for ourselves. You can say, “My grandmother had the best of intentions, so “the rules” were waived in her case.” But you can’t say, “Therefore, the rules also don’t apply to me - I can sit here in my easy chair and assume I am “saved” without worrying about all that stuff.” No. We must hold ourselves to the highest possible standards, while being generous to others, and giving them the benefit of the doubt.
I do understand your the point you are making here and I agree that the more we have the more we are responsible for. I was more making the case that essentials might be relative to the person and the circumstances. it appears that you agree that they are.

No one ever says “he couldn’t have been saved” since obviously he was. The other one was not, however. Both had the same opportunities, and one of them blew it.

We today all have the same opportunity to be members of Christ’s Church, but some of us blow it off as “unnecessary” just as the second thief blew off Christ’s sacrifice for his sins. “Do something practical,” he said, “Get us down from here.”

So many people blow off the Church because it doesn’t seem “practical” to them.
Yes it is sad when people reject Christs church.😦

So do you not believe that God has and will continue to use people to accomplish His plans? How about Rahab?Pharoah? Saul? The list is rather long, and includes Judas! I mean, who would have thought God would use a prostitute to hide His spies? Or Deborah, or Delilah?

Xavierlives,

Once again you say you started to look for a new church Home. You hop here and there looking for a protestant church that suits your “particualr beliefs”, and if you can’t find one, so why not start your own protestant church, according to the beliefs of “Xavierlives” many, if not all, protestant pastors do, this is why you are having a hard time in your particular surch for a Church.
Because I am not God. One does not just whip up a religion as one might whip up a batch of cookies. You only lie to yourself if you belief that men moving from the Catholic Church decided to create a church based on their own machinations.
One more protestant church by Xavierlives, added among to the thousand protestrant churches won’t hurt, right? …Wrong! For Example, Xavierlives, “IF” by starting your own church, Then you will have some one like yourself, entering your protestant church, looking for a home church and not liking your church because it did not have Their “Particular Beliefs.” When will it end LOL. I know you never stated that you wanted to start a church, again it was only for the example of the chaos in the Protestant church Regarding their many different teachings.😃
While I find it interesting that you see humor in others’ beliefs, I find that to be irreverent and irrelevant.
I mean, truly is this what Jesus Christ Wanted out of the “Protestant Reformation” do you believe that Jesus Christ wanted different Protestant Churches where people can find a Protestant Church that Suits their beliefs. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!
I find that man should not suffer for tradition at the expense of God given wisdom.
Xavierlives, You must agree, that if you are trying to find a Protestant Church that suits your beliefs, then you must agree, that the protestant churches in their many diferent beliefs must be in chaos, since the begining of the Protestant Reformation, yes, Must be in cahos, if you have to surch and surch, for your belief, in a Protestant Church. Right? …
Why must I agree? Do you think that I find chaos in the fact that some churches do not use musical instruments in their worship service? No. Do I promote internal chaos if I practice that? No. This chaos that you propose would tend to encourage the idea that there exists a chasm between those of a particular faith and Christ. No crack exists. Moreover, I find no abyss between the RCC and most protestant faiths. When we start to acknowledge our unity in Christ, we will have a catholic church.
Xavielives, do you truly believe that the Protestant Reformation was an act of Jesus Christ? If you say yes, then why, do you have to hop here and there to find a Protestant church that suits your beliefs.
This might be a hard concept to grasp, but Hebrews 11 does more justice to the subject. Our faith is one. Some beliefs are different, but that does not change the faith.
Xavirlives, By the way, what is your “Belief” and why can’t you find your “particular belief”, in the many protestant Churches, wether denominational or Non denominational that you have tried out, in your surch for a church home?
Are you asking for a personal testimony or why I would consider a non-denominational church?
Xavierlives at the moment you are a seed that is blowing in the wind, and I hope and pray you will find good soil, Jesus Christ Established his Church before the Protestant Refomation. And what Church is that you will say, and I tell you Xavierlives, Look at the Facts look at the proof for Jesus Christ deals in Facts and Proofs and not in CHAOS and there you will find a Church home that started over 2000 years ago and still teaching the same message without wavering for this Church the gates of hell can not prevail over it.
While I appreciate your candor, I’m not sure you completely grasp my faith in Christ. If you did, you would not compare it to a seed blowing in the wind. Christ makes the comparison that we are the soil and he is the seed. While my soil has quite a bit of rocky patches, the roots have taken hold and the tree is firmly established.
What other Church Claims or can claim with proof and facts to its existance for over 2000 years? thats where you should plant your seed.
Well, all Christians should make that claim or they are not representing Christ.

Peace to you as well.

No he was not, he certainly allowed him self to fall into sin though. The only unforgivable one he committed was against the Holy Spirit, by doubting he could be forgiven for betraying the Christ, then taking final action into his own hands condeming him self.
You might consider re-reading Luke 22:3; John 8:42-47; 13:2, 27.
