How do non-denominational Christians pick a church?

Regard the count of Protestant denominations and even going so far as to consider the rites with the Catholic church as denominations, I must ask this of my Protestant brothers and sisters:

If it boils down to being either Protestant or Catholic, then why are you one Protestant denomination and not the other. Why do you go to say a Baptist church on Sunday, and not the Lutheran church, or the Seven Day Adventists or the Church of Christ. After all, its not Catholic.

Now you may ask the same of me, as to why I as a Roman Catholic don’t go to a Greek Catholic Divine Liturgy or a Maronite Rite Mass on Sunday or if that was closer to my home than a Roman Catholic parish. The answer is that I can, and it a complete and full meeting of obligation with no deviation from the teaching of the Catholic Church.

But, can a Lutheran say the same by going to a Sunday service at the local Alliance church? Can an Presbyterian say that by attending Sunday service at an Assembly of God.

Just a pause for thought.

God bless

Tony
If I was out of town, I would attend one of those denoms, thou Im not famillier with
Alliance church. If there were no protestant churches but only a Catholic church I would check that out (hiding in the back row of course.)

And a resource that is proven to flaws.

The last is the most ridiculous number of all because while there might be 22,000 Baptist churches, they are one denomination, but if a Baptist church drops its affliation, it is suddenly a new denomination on your list eventhough nothing has changed in their beliefs.

.
that is the case with my church, We were Yankton Baptist, now we are yankton community fellowship. We dropped the Baptist because we tend to be a litle more charismatic than people expect a Baptist church to be, but our doctrines havent changed.

May I please ask for some clarification on your statement. If a nothing has changed in the beliefs of a particular Baptist church, then why do they drop their affiliation. Are they no longer Baptist? Or do they call themselves Baptist but stand alone. What happens if they move from being Free Will Baptist to Reformed Baptist – and how and why did these come about? Why would a congregation change affiliation?

I’m not try to pick a fight here, I’m just trying to understand.

God bless

Tony
see my last post but I would ad that our church is still apart of a larger Concervative Baptist Organisation.

i believe i have already explained about this in 1068 , 1074 , 1079. god breathed the soul of god into jesus but didnt have physical imput. when you can breath the soul of god into another person then you can claim such powers 🙂
Why did Joseph plan to divorce her if it was his baby? Do you look for natural explanations for all miracles? For example when God parted the red sea was it a tidal wave or some “natural” thing that caused it? Was Jesus bodily raised from the dead? how did He walk on water?

the only list that matters is the one that is made by God rather than a list made by man. A more fruitful discussion might be what it takes to be on His list. If your point is that there are too many denominations, I agree that is the general idea of a nondenominational church. We have decided that we might have some differences but we should not be divisive about it.
I don’t understand why you get to be divisive, but Catholics don’t. 🤷

All Christians are divisive when we say, “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.”

How do you think that sounds to a Muslim? Or a Hindu?

Each and every time you proclaim that you are a follower of Jesus then you are excluding those who don’t follow Jesus, right?

Come to think of it. The church we keep going back to right now, was Church of Christ and moved to Non-denominational. It is my parents’ church so I have been going there off and on over the years when we visited, and now that we moved here we have found ourselves attending. I think their only shift from Church of Christ was the use of music in a service (so it is more like an independent Christian Church).

Did they go non-denominational because of music? I doubt it. Do they have every makings of a Christian Church or Church of Christ? Yes. Are they their own Denomination? No.

There is no need to be divisive within Christianity too.

I don’t understand why this is such a big deal to you. You claim to want unity then seek unity. If you want disunity then seek divisiveness, but you can’t post here and be divisive and say you want unity. It just doesn’t work.

When you get rid of the window, you have nothing but a blank wall.

How do you verify if the voices in your head are God, or something else? Me, I consult a priest. 🙂
If you have voices in your head you most certainly should be consulting with someone.(just kidding) When I first stopped doing drugs it took some time for my head to clear. Somehow I just knew I couldnt trust my own head so when I had some big problem I would just pray"God?" and then I would do what ever idea popped into my head. I was amazed at how well this worked and yet now that my head is clear I frequently forget to ask His guidance:(.

***According to our Lord Jesus Christ Himself; any number higher than ZERO is tooooo high:thumbsup: Mt.16:15-19 ***and

Eph. 2:19 "So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, [singular] built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; [singular] in whom you also are built into it for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Love and prayers friends,
yes thats my church!👍

So, that’s what that sound coming from your posts was:p
something you can’t believe: the truth.😛
Do you remember what Christ said right before He died? Let me refresh your memory,“It is finished!” This means He had completed His work on earth; dying for our sins, and our opportunity at salvation.
and what does this have to do with what was posted?
The resurrection was a fulfillment of prophecy, and a visual sign(first seen by Mary Magdalene) of His victory over the grave!!! Not sure what you mean by believers not being required to sell everything and give it to the church:confused:
looks like your the one who needs refreshing,Acts of the Apostles’s 2:5…Acts of the Apostles’s 5:1-11…you just won’t find where this pratice stopped…so thus all who claim to be bible christians have to sell everything in order to be bible christians.
Is this picture of your brother one which porteys the violence of his death, or perhaps a more serene happy picture!
one is an old school picture and the other was from his funeral with his head wrapped up…
Let’s face it, dude, you won’t change your mind about crucifixes, and I will NEVER wear a Cross with a corpus on it! There is no precedence for it, short of the catholics saying it was acceptable! And we are all capable of arrogance, I have just experienced more from catholics in the last year! And don’t flatter yourself; your posts are ususally rather lacking in charity!
Who said anything about flattering myself i have no delusion that i am nice to your kind.

Im not saying there arent issues that are worth dividing over but many more that are not.

That, dear brother, is exactly my point.

So you are agreed that Catholics can avail themselves of this right to proclaim a truth, even if it excludes those who disagree?

You have quite arbitrarily–and with no Scriptural foundation–decided what’s “worth” dividing over and what’s not.

News flash: I not only believe the Truth, I have a personal relationship with Him!😛 What it has to do with what was posted(Are you smarter than a fifth grader?) is that we were discussing the merits of keeping Christ on the Cross, by wearing crucifixes with corpuses on them or wearing Crosses which depict what history recorded(Christ died on the Cross and was taken off), so that when He said,“It is finished,” it was!:thumbsup:You still haven’t explained what Christians selling everything and giving it to the church has to do with corpus or no corpus:confused: And I was never under the impression that you were nice to my kind or anyone else who wasn’t catholic:p

There are so many churches, and denominations who talk unity, but what they really want is for you to come over to their side! They preach One God, One Church, One Faith, but I don’t believe we will see unity among the Body of Christ until we stand hand in hand on Heaven’s golden shore!

I don’t ever begrudge anyone the desire for me to come to “their side.” It speaks to their passion and to their desire to share their joy with me. Why would I oppose that? In fact, I’ll invite them into my home.

Why on earth would any Christian follow a guy who teaches, “Hey, there’s many churches, many faiths, and many truths?”

But your List with added non-Christian numbers is not arbitrary?

Then why are you promoting it? You are the one saying there are many churches. You are the one saying these churches equal different denominations. You are the one saying these Denominations equal many truths.

We are not saying that. We are saying we are one catholic church, we are one faith, with one truth.

You simply refuse to hear our voices (like you have ignored my posts) 😦

Wow that sure is some strange belief: that having a depiction of Christ on the cross keeps Him there…man Catholics sure have the power:p are you of so little understanding, Christ on the cross was when it was finished.Oh yeah right you have no sorrow for the times you fail to obey,so there is no neeed to be sorrowful at the sight of Him in His suffering. The sight of an empty cross depicts no love,no sorrow, nothing, just the emptiness of never being able to be as close as those who are devot Catholics, which is something you will never never obtain maybe in the next when you are saved in spite of yourself.
