I was just how does 1 become a catholic priest is there a school or something were you learn and after a few years you become one or how does it work??
First, take note of this bible passage…Romans 10:
14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”[g]
First thing is to contact the vocations director, usually a priest, for help in discernment.
Before entering seminary, one has to have a recommendation from the vocations director or parish priest…(take note of the passage here…especially v15)
It takes usually 8 to 9 years (4 yr college-philosophy and 4 yrs theologogy)…then about 6 to 12 months as a deacon.
The seminarian stays and lives in a seminary…life there not only involves studying…but the priestly formation also involves spiritual formation, daily prayers, daily mass.
Before ordination, an ordinand will need the recommendation of the seminary rector and the bishop…again, take not of v15…
After deaconship, and the bishop’s ok…one is ordained a priest…again…take note of v15…one is sent, you do not choose to send your self.
