She is a Baptist:shrug:

She has a statue of David…I have never heard of that. What is it for? The purpose? If having a statue of the Holy Mother is forbidden, so is David.

I bet her knee jerks alot:p

Sorry, I am not trying to be disrespectfull of your MIL. I am a Baptist and well…can’t explain that one…
Yes, southern baptist, it is just a concrete statue of David. Im confused as well. A bit hipocriticle.

David, Esther, anybody but those Saints used to prove Catholicism.

Hey! CC!

Notice my absence here?

Imagine the apocalypse I’ve wrought on that “other” website!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I’ve met “some” nice Christians there however.

The crazies however I’m using for practice.

Thanks for the “referral”! 😃

👍

I had to virtually sit on my hands to keep from registering there just to tell him he’d be so much happier and charitable if he returned to Holy Mother Church. :o There are none so vile against the Church as those who leave her and fall for the Fundamentalist propaganda. 😦

As a former I/F Baptist, I could probably register and ask some hard questions - the ones that were asked of me for which I had no good answer and thus led me Home. But I think I’d better not. 😊
I tried to argue, and guess what they wont even listen to the Bible. Guess what they couldn’t answer my questions so they banned me.

Actually, the Baptists hate us so much. Look they banned me.
I got a “board warning” today. I mostly just posted Scripture in the Transubstantiation thread. I even used KJV! I got TWO PMs that said “Stop Pushing Catholicism” to which I replied,

"I’m sorry there must be some misunderstanding. I did not use the word “transubstantiation” or “Catholic” in my post. It is predominately KJV Scripture. I do know Baptists who believe that Jesus is speaking literally in John 6 and in the Last Supper accounts. God’s Word says it, that settles it! :amen:

😊

Yea, me too. I only used the Bible. I guess they are hypocrites who can’t even read.

No just insecure in their beliefs. Ignorance breeds fear and anger.

I know you katolicks and now ain’t afeared 😛
Protestants? Insecure? Hey, why do we have Protestants, anyway? Surely not because they are insecure, but because they are BETTER than those Catholics, who are all going to that place down yonder anyway. 😃

Hey everybody. Sorry to raise an old thread but I thought I’d share what happened at the in-laws this weekend (they are Southern Baptist remember).

My fiance’ has been attending mass with me, and we’ve been doing a lot of reading and talking with my family and our priest. No one ever says “those Baptists are just wrong”. Instead we explain why we do things, and how we feel that the Catholic Church is the true church (apostolic succession etc). His mother asked us to go to Sunday service with her (so we went to Mass Saturday night). The preacher at her church picked a Bible verse and essentially ad libbed some stuff and morphed what was written into what he felt like saying (I couldn’t follow his logic for the life of me). Most of it was blatantly not in line with the teachings of the Catholic Church. He ended his hour-long preaching with an altar call, saying if you want to accept JC as your savior come up and receive the spirit and be healed. So on the way home from the in-laws, Future Husband says to me that was the first time in his whole life he actually listened to what the preacher said (usually he zoned out). He said that he never realized how arbitrary the teachings are of any random Protestant church, that they sort of make up whatever they want to say and are likely to contradict each other. He also was LIVID that the preacher made “cheap shots” at the Catholic faith during his sermon. He had said things like “I’m not your priest, Jesus is” and “people who follow the religion of dictator don’t have a relationship with God” and “completing a checklist is not a pure relationship with Jesus”. It’s Easter Sunday, our Lord has risen, don’t you have anything better to talk about than to bash the Catholics?

Needless to say, that trip back to the Baptist Church to placate his mom did more for my future husband’s conversion than she’ll ever know. Honestly, I felt terrible. He was really upset. While I would be excited for him to convert, I certainly didn’t want it to involve the villification of the church he grew up in. He’s made it quite clear that he will tell her that we will not be going back with her when we visit, and nor will our future kids, as they will be raised Catholic and do not need to be confused by others in that way.

Yes, I understand what you are talking about. My family has similar problems like that. In fact the same thing happened to me this Easter. I decided to be nice and go to my families Protestant church (not Baptist however), nonetheless I had no problem with the sermon, however the music was an awful sort, that typical type of irreverent southern Baptist music. I got ridiculed for not enjoying what was in their opinion a very good service. When I said that we should not celebrate like that, they said I was “old-fashioned” and asked me snide comments like do you think that women still shouldn’t be allowed to leave the home or work. Of course I said no, however it was quite annoying me being the only Catholic.

Salve,
I too have posted to the transubstantiation board using solely Scripture to show the Catholic belief, and have just recieved a warning for it. Even though I was told in a post that I was allowed to discuss my viewpoints using Scripture, which I did, I am about to be banned for “pushing my Catholic doctrine around.” Perhaps a theological crusade is needed on this website? We should make accounts by the hundreds and flood their boards. May the truth be known!
Pax tecum

Hi, im new to this site. I am a cradle catholic that has a lot to learn about my faith:D I married a southern baptist and have a 2yr boy that i baptised catholic. I am just wondering exactly how baptist feel about us catholics. My husband is very openminded so he does not think im going to hell for believing in my faith;)
My extended southern baptist family love me very much…they have not problem with me being Catholic. Of course they’d prefer I be with them… But no speak of hellfire and brimstones there about being Catholic yet. But I have seen the preacher call out names and sin from the pew… scary…almost as bad as the church I joined in 89’ with my wife.
