So here is one question: How do you know that the Catholic faith and teachings are true if you are being taught by other people, not God. (So really he is saying why do I believe in God)
He also said that the only way to know would be if God came and told me… -_-
It’s called faith, not knowledge. 😉

We actually use it a lot more than people realise: we have faith that the sun will come up, faith that cars/trains/planes will carry us to our destinations, faith that others love us. More importantly, we cannot live without it: life without any faith is life without any hope, and that gets ended pretty promptly.

I believe faith comes from knowledge of truth. The very initial saving grace of God is to let us know Him so that faith and works of obedience may flourish from that knowledge.

I did try to answer but does anyone else have an opinion of what I should say!!! Thanks and God bless…
Step back for a second and examine his claims to be taught by God.

Assuming he is a Christian:
  1. Who declared to him that the Bible is the word of God? (It was the Catholic Church in the 390’s AD)
  2. Who declared to him which books belong in the Bible? (Again, the CC in the 390’s)
  3. What does the Bible say is the pillar and foundation of the truth? (It is not the Bible, it is the Church)
  4. How does the Bible state that we are to know how to behave and act? (We are to remain in the Church.)
