How do you answer the question of why doesn't God show himself to everyone?

The world’s a complicated place. But, I really don’t think “He doesn’t want to” is a very complicated argument. They also aren’t assumptions but drawn from revelation already presumed in the Catholic purview; in other words, if Catholicism is true, then they would be true as well.

“The evidence in my life has been…”

You are. Still, you are.
Yet it seems you’ve already decided the end of the journey, heh. I’ve spoken with someone who was an atheist for many years, but he now thinks that is where God wanted him to be for that time.
Disbelief is a common thing nowadays, but now you say He hates you? Why do you think that? Is it not that the world hates you in this vale of tears, but that He loves you?

I don’t know how old you are, but I feel like it is not very. Keep going on is what I say.

I consider the spiritual life to be a tall ladder in the sky. Some are at the very base of the ladder, struggling with their own weakness and ability to climb it. Some are far below it, on ground, where they cannot see it. For them, the ladder doesn’t exist. Their hearts are hardened and their eyes are blinded. For others, they are in the middle, struggling with a desolation they feel, wondering when they could possibly reach the top.

Then there’s those who are very near the top, on the 10th to last rung. They can see the hem of a cloak. Excitement fills their minds. Did they just see something? It renews their vigilance.

The ones at the top have already stepped over to the other side. They rejoice at having climbed the ladder. It was hard work but it paid off.

Many are on different rungs of this ladder at the moment. God allows certain refreshments for some and desolation for others, all for the good of the soul. But the further one reaches the end of their ladder, the closer they are to God and the more He rewards them with little revelations of Himself to that soul.

God did show himself through the son Jesus Christ. Maybe not the whole world but those who witnessed Jesus teach and heal and the they were charged in spreading that message.

Your response is kind, but then I am in the bottom of the pit. [I am not suggesting you are saying this of me.]

I posted this in another forum which got removed by the mods, but I had a one on one meeting with a bishop, who I did not and will not name, and the bishop strongly implied that I was excommunicating myself because I reported abuse from others and wouldn’t agree with the Church’s decision [edit: also strongly implied–because the Church’s decisions are always right, even on all matters of discipline in individual cases]. He then says I was directly disobeying Jesus.

If Jesus is excommunicating me because I reported someone abusing me, then He hates me.

Now, I don’t know the specifics of your situation, but people of flesh are corrupt and can err.

Go to a different bishop or a priest you trust very much. God loves you, look, you’re on this very forum in spite of what has happened.

Thank you Kei. But I am going to leave this forum (and Reddit’s catholic’s subreddits) in the next week or so, because they are not helpful on balance. I just had a conversation with a friend who suggested it, and I think my friend is right.

Edit: And I don’t trust any bishop. I mistrust everyone, especially priest and bishops.

OK, but please do heed my advice. Speaking to someone you trust who may be able to help you get through this. But, know that if any wrong has happened, it is in man, and not the God who has loved us so much that He treats us like the god to do so much for us already. It may take some time, but trust that good will come out of it.

Why would you think an extremely beautiful woman wouldn’t walk down the street naked or show you her glory just because you, a stranger, asked?

Maybe its something to do with relationship, imbalance of power, slow degrees of trust and friendship.

The usual suspects in any true committed relationship.
