False equivalency. An old GOP stand by.
Pope Francis was not the Pope when the sex scandal controversy surrounding the Church broke, right CatholicSooner?

Good we have self-appointed vigilantes like you around! :cowboy_hat_face:
I don’t think you ahve a very good understanding of the current state of the Church and the history of corruption in the church.

Look up St. Peter Damian. I guess he was in the wrong too.

We can’t let the Church be overrun with immorality. Again, what has changed from 2002? nothing to speak of. And nothing will continue to change unless we keep this issue in the news

2002 you say? I got it, it’s George Bush’s fault! (Since you can’t leave political attacks out of a thread). I knew you were a leftist when you blamed all problems on a previous administration. I know this is also why you so vehemently support Pope Francis. It is political and has nothing to do with your reverence of the papacy.

well apparently, saying PF may not be truthful is inappropriate by this forum.

God help us if we can’t criticize a pope

he is bringing people together by not condemning people, by being Christllike
“Being Christlike,” should never be used as an appositive for “not condemning people.”

Second, “bringing people together” is not the goal of the papacy; bringing people together in the Church is, and there is no evidence that Francis is bringing more Catholics in. There has been no Francis effect. More people are leaving than coming in.

Francis is also no longer popular even among the media who once praised him, because of his failures in the abuse crisis.

There is absolutely 0 wrong with calling out the pope, and there is nothing in revelation that indicates that there is. Meanwhile, there are mountains and mountains of examples of legitimate times the pope was called out.

What is being seen in the Taylor Marshall podcasts, EWTN and by other Catholic apologists is the great concern that some Catholic leaders are trying more to reconcile the Church to the world rather than reconcile people to the Church. Perhaps it is not their intention. Their intentions may be good but people need to be reconciled to God through the Church. The Church stands on the same Scripture and Tradition it always has. It doesn’t change.

I would say to those that are bothered by things that are said when listening to these podcasts or shows is to research what bothers you and how does it fall within Catholic teaching. Many times it is hard to hear something that is asking us to change our lifestyle or our thoughts.

We should always respect the papal office and the Pope but we do need to remember the Pope is not perfect. He is not Christ but Christ’s ambassador. He also sins. Pope Pius XII went to confession daily and Saint Pope John Paul II went weekly.

Knowing the truth when others don’t and correcting misconceptions is not holier than thou. It’s faithfulness to the truth, no matter what our feelings think.

“Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, Hypocrites!”

I know a guy who said this. He was God. And he called us to imitate him.

Dr. Marshall’s podcasts are a great service to faithful Catholics. We need enough informed, faithful laity to sift through the numerous speeches, documents, and interviews that come out of the Vatican these days and determine whether they are compatible with the constant teaching of the Church. Sadly, more often than not these days, the answer is “no.”

Originally I was very interested in his podcasts on the virtues, but his series on fatima hooked me. Lead me back to supernatural belief in the faith. Id say #TnT are doing great work.

Taylor Marshall’s podcast is very informative and he does a great job of bringing to light many problems within the church. Timothy Gordon is also pretty knowledgeable, however I think he tends to ramble quite a bit. lol He just doesn’t have the same delivery as Taylor Marshall and sometimes their podcasts can be all over the map and they have a tendency to drift from the main topic.

That being said, I think they’ve reached the point that many other Catholics are at now, in that they can no longer defend every questionable comment or action by Pope Francis. Even Patrick Coffin has become “red pilled”, as they have a tendency to say, to the many odd things that the Holy Father says. If the comments were few and far between, then maybe there wouldn’t be cause for alarm, but unfortunately Pope Francis has put together a long list of comments and documents that paints a larger picture of his views and beliefs. Many of which are questionable.

Our Lady of Akita (1973-1979) requested that we pray for “the Pope, bishops and clergy” for the very reasons that Taylor Marshall, Church Militant and others have been yelling from the rooftops for the last few years. The Church need to be purified of it’s filth. It’s an act of charity to point out the wolves among the shepherds. The only way to purification is to air everything in the light. Nothing gets purified in darkness.

That being said, Taylor Marshall has an uncanny ability to explain very very complex things and make someone like me understand… My hat goes off to him. But you really have to select and choose the podcasts he makes…

Since my confirmation into the Catholic Church 8 years ago I’ve noticed that there exists a very large segment of Catholics who prefer remaining blissfully ignorant rather than face certain truths. That is unfortunate.
I am glad though that more and more are finding the courage today to hear and to speak actual truths than to live with their heads in the sand. Very good.

From Bergoglio to Francis.
Buenos Aires clergy sex abuse victims ignored.

Normally, I would be bothered if podcasts did this as well, but I actually enjoy it when TNT do it. The things they talk about are relevant at this time in history, and need to be discussed.
