How do you fit the Rosary in your day?

Last year I bought a braclet rosery and I find that I can’t forget to say the rosery. I will say a decade or two when I am waiting for the kids after school or while in the airport, I found that it was really nice to have all the time. They sell them at most catholic stores.

I usually pray all 20 decades, 5 at time, at different times of day. The first five I say as I go to work, whether I am driving or using public transportation (I have about a half-hour commute). Some days I also have time to say the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. The second 10 (again, 5 at a time) I say as I drive to and from appointments around town. Saying the Rosary while driving makes serious meditation difficult, but it also makes me a much more patient driver! The last 5 decades I say in bed at night. I occasionally fall asleep before I finish, but I do finish most nights.

The rosary takes only about 17 minutes and is a perfect meditation of the life of Christ.

But is it proper? I’ve tried it and thought that I wasn’t able to concentrate on both praying and driving. In the end, I wasn’t doing either well…

Of course, Mother Mary prays the Rosary with us, but our hearts are not lifted up to Him…

My husband got me a “memory rosary” for Christmas. It is a single-decade rosary and the beads keep their place until you move them. That way you can say the Rosary as you go about your day - one decade or a couple of hail mary’s at a time…

I enjoyed saying the Rosary for many years, driving to work. On the way home, I would pray for the departed members of my family and departed friends. I was never involved in an accident, during this time. Now that I am retired, I say it at various times. The best place of course is before the Blessed Sacrament.

I pray it while I’m driving too… The stretch of highway that I drive to work is not very busy so I don’t feel irresponsible. I open my eyes periodically to check the road …

I also pray along when EWTN broadcasts it over the radio at night…

My family gathers at bedtime and prays. There are 5 of us, so we take turns leading each decade. Even when we’re sleepy, we do it.

p.s. We had stopped saying prayers at bedtime for several years, so my family was not entirely willing to start praying again with such a very long prayer …but God is so good to me. Thank you, Lord, for each little blessing you give me.

I say 2, sometimes 3 rosaries a day. Being a poor sleeper, I say the first one btwn 2-3AM, Second is with EWTN at 7:30 am. If I give up on the TV and
surf the channels, I can’t re-
sist Mother Angelica and the

I’ve been praying it while driving, and it hasn’t been too bad, meditation wise.

No matter how hard I try I cannot pray the Rosary anymore.

All I am able to do is pray one decade and I can only do this because I ask my daughter to sit and say it with me, she says a bit and joins in a bit, she is only 3 years old but knows her Hail Mary and Our Father. I can pray the Rosary before the Blessed Sacrament…I don’t know…

I don’t know what has happened to me and I am quite sad about this. I am still praying and otherwise my prayer vocal and mental is fine as well as daily living as prayer, but cannot pray the Rosary. Infact all learnt prayer is very hard for me…what on earth has happened to me???

I just end up sitting holding my beads and talking and listening to God.

Any suggestions???

Wow! you sound like me…I have NO IDEA what to do to help myself other than spiritual reading.
What I think helps is Adoration…I am sticking with that and hoping/praying my devotion to the rosary comes back. There are times when I tell God I don’t feel like praying the rosary today.
Hopefully I can find someone who has been through this before to help me out…it would be nice to have another person to share my faith with at this time in my life where I too struggle with prayer like this…but there is no one, and priest are too busy to hang out with me on the weekend and guide me through it.

This is when you have to force yourself to pray. Breaking a good habit is the devil’s tactic. A soul that prays does just way too much damage to his filthy work.

Pray to your guardian angel and try asking either your priest or your diocesan office about a spiritual director. All dioceses have them, in more or less numbers, but all do.

I’ve never prayed the Rosary daily either and I’ve memorized the Glory Be, the Hail, Holy Queen just a few months ago. More recently, the Fatima prayer.

Unlike the other shorter prayers, I needed to keep a piece of paper in my wallet with the Hail, Holy Queen. After about a few weeks praying it reading it, I noticed that I didn’t need the piece of paper.

Don’t fret, you’ll learn them all by heart. Just get in the habit of saying them.

I just started praying a simplified Liturgy of the Hours for Lent (though i already love it :bounce: and will keep it up even after!), Lauds and Compline. I used to pray 5 decades of the Rosary at night before going to bed, but now i try to get it in right before or after dinner and call it Vespers. Makes sense to me, since the Gospel canticle for vespers is the Magnificat, eh?!

I voted “all 5 decades throughout the day” but I’ve only been doing this since October 2004. Two or three decades while driving to work (until I’m within range of our local Catholic radio station ) and the rest while driving home. Like Deacon Tony, I too have not been involved in an accident during this time. And like quaysman, I too open my eyes periodically to check the road !

However, it takes me longer than Church Militant’s 17 minutes for me to say the Rosary… sometimes I find that I’m “further along” than I thought I was (meaning I basically just repeated a bunch of learned prayers without having really contemplated the mysteries) so I back up to where I think I ought to be, and start again from there.

In the beginning, I only managed to finish 4 of 5 decades before the end of my day… when that happened I felt obligated the following day to finish the previous day’s rosary before starting a new one!
The easiest mysteries for me to pray turn out to be the Sorrowful Mysteries (particularly the last two decades). For the first three decades I tend to visualize scenes from the Passion of the Christ as I’m praying. For the 4th decade I “map” the first 10 stations of the cross to each Hail Mary. For the 5th decade I “map” the last 4 stations to every 2 or 3 Hail Marys.

Works the same way for me while running. If I manage to get a run in, or a walk during inclement weather, than I can usually do a full rosary (with all the mysteries) on one outing. Depends on the knees, the traffic, the behavior of the dog I run with, and how the factors influence my ability to concentrate and the mileage covered.

If the weather is too and or I am too lazy then I try to say one at home. Usually in the evening, because it is after I have lost all hope of going out for the day. Then, I usually only say one mystery. I try not to miss saying the rosary at least once a day, but I don’t alwyas succeed. some tiems I leave it until i go to bed, thinking that I always have trouble sleeping any way, but I feel so guilty if I fall asleep before I finish it (despite that my grandmother always told me the angels finish a rosary if you fall asleep before you can finish it; I know only a wives’ tale, but still think it’s sweet).

I can’t ever remember the prayer for after the Hail Holy Queen, smething about while meditating on these rosaries may we imitate the lesons they contain and obtain what they promsie. I don’t think it’s an essential prayer, but I feel incomplete wihout it, and keep it at hand too.:yup:

I love to fall asleep while saying praises to either Our Lord or Our Lady. No day could end better than one in which my last words are of praise to God or to His mother!

But it’s not every night that the Holy Spirit blesses me with such grace. May my last words in this life be of blessings to God and to His mother.

I have to admit that I should pray the Rosary more often than I do. But, I have found that I can pray the Rosary in my car using my Rosary beads. Generally, I find myself doing this when someone I know is in need of prayer.
