Which church is this?

When was it founded?

How long has it possessed this authority?
As,

How about this…

It is not the Mormon Church or the Church of what’s happening now at the strip mall…

It was not founded in America by Joseph Smith…

It has possessed authority longer than the existence of the King James Bible when it was first printed.

It does not have its origins in Western Europe…since Jesus was an Asian Jew…

How is that for starters…if you and others continue with what it is not then you will find what it is…

Since the two of you are guests here, could you please agree on answers between yourselves, then present those answers to these forums for discussion?
Good evening, p18g. Just to clarify the 3 questions I asked were posed to you.

I will tell you the 2,000 year old, bible-consistent teaching of the Catholic Church. Jesus said that He founded a Church in Matthew 16:18-19. He told believers to take disputes to the Church as the final authority in Matthew 18:15-18. He promised that He would be with His Church until the end of the age Matthew 28:20.

How come…

Po,

So if this is true, then there was not a great Apostasy, correct?👍

The “great apostasy” makes Christ a liar. As I see it, the “great apostasy” was not the end of something, but the beginning of something else - a “different gospel” (Galatians 1:8-9).

We must pray for those souls who are lost and would think Christ lied to all of us :gopray2:

And what is the* biblically-consistent *litmus test which determines whether a prophet was sent from God?

  1. He does not deny the Truths of the faith.
  2. God sends signs through him - typically healing and saving miracles, such as raising the dead to life, or healing the sick, or multiplying food abundantly.

The central message of the Scriptures:

“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me” - Jesus

John 5:39

  1. He does not deny the Truths of the faith.
Of which faith?
God sends signs through him - typically healing and saving miracles, such as raising the dead to life, or healing the sick, or multiplying food abundantly.
The veracity of a prophet or teacher appointed by God is often demonstrated through such signs - but not always. Remember that the magicians of Egypt also performed great signs prior to the Exodus and they definitely were not ordained by God.

Yes, but by which “test” are prophets to submit “to see whether they are from God?”
This is a very sad fact regarding bible Christianity: the bible does not tell you how. So, an appeal is made by non-affiliated groups and an answer is received - but is it the Holy Spirit? Since the fruits of bible Christianity are division and disagreement, they de facto are not lead by the Holy Spirit - the Unifier.

The Apostles knew how to test the spirits and passed that knowledge and power along to their successors. They better have done this, or we have no way of knowing if the bible is indeed the word of God - since it was not officially winnowed down from hundreds of writings to what we know as the bible until several hundred years later.

The bible tells you what to do, but not how to do it. Thus, that knowledge has either been lost forever, or it is kept somewhere outside of the bible.

Of which faith?
There is only One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. 🙂

We already have Jesus, who raised up Himself from the dead - what other signs are necessary? Let us follow the Church that He established, secure in the knowledge that She is the sole heir to His Kingdom, and the recipient of His promises.
