Paarsurrey,

The church has not changed.

The church has not changed the Bible since it was first put into print by the church.

The church has made adaptations in order to grow and mature as the church is alive and all life must grow or dissolve.

With respect for your beliefs as a Moslem it is my main argument as to what is wrong with islam today. Not Growing and not adapting.

It is my opinion and I repeat my opinion that if you look at Islam and Islamic states they have remained culturally unchanged.

Countries that were the birth of civilization are stuck in the 5th century.

Refusal to accept others not holding their beliefs, descrimination, and war like beliefs with hatred such as that which is held toward Israel does nothing but harm Islam and sooner or later it’s destruction.

Can I as a Catholic vote in an Islamic State Country?

Can I own property?

Can I worship freely?

Sounds like the early pangs of the Catholic Church that brought war such as the crusades. But you know we have changed, we have grown, we are free to choose if we want to fast, If we want to pray or when? etc… and do not hold all to follow or it is jail, persecution to include stoning and beheading.

I am sorry but growth is not an option but a realization of the living Church and God.

Allah never said for you to be a nation but to be a member of a nation

Some questions are difficult to answer, some are sim[ple. This question is a no brainer, it is so simple.

There is only one Church that was founded directly by Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself. There is only one Church that traces an unbroken line straight back to Jesus and His Apostles. There is only one Church that has not changed its teachings from the time of Our Lord.

Was it the Church founded by Martin Luther?
Was it the Church founded by John Calvin?
Was it the Church founded by Zwingli?
Was it the Church founded by Henry VIII?
Was it the Church founded by John Wesley?
Was it the Church founded by Mary Baker Eddy?
Was it the Church founded by Joseph Smith?
Was it the Church founded by any one of the hundreds of self-styled gurus, self-proclaimed visionaries or straight out quacks that have appeared over the centuries?

NO.

It was the Church founded by Jesus Christ Himself and led by the Apostles He chose and their successors ordained to follow them under the leadership of the Apostle Peter chosen by Jesus to lead His Church.
There is only one Church that fits that description - the One, Catholic and Apostolic Church as proclaimed in the Creed.

Begging your pardon,

I have not read the thread beyond the first few sentences. Forbear my
haste to reply.

1st, contrary to the statement by the OP, there are not many Christian religions. There is only ONE Christian religion. There are many sects of the one Christian religion, even as there was the one Jewish religion under the Old Covenant.

2nd, because of that there is in truth only one true church, and it is the universal community of all believers or true converts - whatever sect they may be in. It is the church universal, the spirits of just men made perfect. All who are justified and sanctified by faith the offering of the person of Christ are then part of that church.

The Catholic Church gave us the Bible. There has been an unbroken chain of Papal secession and leadership.
Wrong! There is no objective proof that there is an unbroken chain of Papal secession.

There IS an unbroken chain of papal succession. 😉

THE ETHIOPIAN CREED

We Ethiopians believe in One God, God the Father, Almighty who possesses all, Maker of the Heavens and Earth, the visible and the invisible. We believe in God the Son, Jesus Christ, One Lord, the only begotten Son of the Father, who was with Him before the creation of the world. He is Light from Light, True God from True God, begotten not made, and, in His Divine Essence, one with His Father. All things were made by Him, and without Him nothing whatsoever was made, in Heavens or on Earth. He came down from Heavens for our sake, for the sake of humanity, for our salvation. He was Incarnate in the womb of the Virgin Mary by the Divine Work of the Holy Spirit, and, acquiring the human soul and the human flesh from Her, became the Perfect Man. In the days of Pontius Pilate, He suffered, was crucified, died and was buried for our sake. And He rose from the dead on the third day, ascended in glory into Heaven and sat on His Throne at the right-hand of His Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. There is no end to His Kingdom. We believe in God the Holy Spirit. He is the life-giving Spirit who proceeds from God the Father, spoke through the Prophets, and, by the atonement of Jesus Christ, descended upon the Apostles and filled the world with His Grace. We worship and glorify Him with the Father and the Son. We believe in the One Church of The Holy Covenant that was founded by the Word of God, Jesus Christ, initially in the Hearts of the Patriarchs, and later sustained by His Divine Messages through the Prophets, and finally brought to perfection through the Holy Spirit by His convocation of the Apostles, and where His Body and Blood is offered as Sacrifice for the Holy Communion with God, and where the Sacramental Blessings of the Holy Spirit are bestowed upon and communicated to all believers. We believe in One Baptism for the remission of sins. We believe in the Resurrection from the dead and the Life to come, world without end. Amen.

My question is. what defines a True Church? how can we know which Church is the True one?

There are tens of thousands of different “Christian” religions.
This isn’t the old "18,000/20,000/23,000/30,000/38,000 denominations lie that’s been debunked so many times already, is it?
I have many reasons but one of the most convincing is the formation of the Bible.
You’re claiming that the formation of the Bible is evidence that the Roman Catholic church is the “true church”, but I say that it’s the failure of the Roman Catholic church to follow the teachings in the Bible that is evidence that it is not.
Arguing that the Catholic Church is wrong regarding the teachings of Jesus, on issues like Confession, Mass, The Eucharist, Infant Baptism, Mary Dogma and many other issues and using the Bible to do so, is insane.
Well, in the words of the late Adrian Rogers, “I may be a nut, but at least I’m fastened to a good bolt: the word of God!”

So, by your logic, that would make the Jewish people, in their failure to follow Torah, not the chosen people?

If you have a problem with Jews, then you need to go and take it up wih them. We’re talking about Roman Catholics here.

The Catholic Church gave us the Bible.
Is this what most Roman Catholics believe? I thought God gave us the Bible because the Bible claims to be God-breathed? If the Catholic Church gave us the Bible, it must be just another religious book like any other religious books of the world… originated by men. 😉

I thought the Bible is called the HOLY Bible? If the Catholic Church gave us the Bible, and the catholic church claims to be 2,000 years old, who gave us the Old Testament? 🤷

Catechism of the Catholic Church
2105 The duty of offering God genuine worship concerns man both individually and socially. This is “the traditional Catholic teaching on the moral duty of individuals and societies toward the true religion and the one Church of Christ.” By constantly evangelizing men, the Church works toward enabling them “to infuse the Christian spirit into the mentality and mores, laws and structures of the communities in which [they] live.” The social duty of Christians is to respect and awaken in each man the love of the true and the good. It requires them to make known the worship of the one true religion which subsists in the Catholic and apostolic Church. Christians are called to be the light of the world. Thus, the Church shows forth the kingship of Christ over all creation and in particular over human societies.
