How do you “know” mine’s wrong ? 🙂
I don’t thats my whole point. Nobody knows which one is 100%. I don’t know why you cant seem to understand that. Ive tried to make my position on this very clear.

Hey BlueShadow. How do you know you are right? We know that God exists, but which religion?

The complexity of our planet points to a deliberate Designer who not only created our universe, but sustains it today. Many examples showing God’s design can be found simply by googling it…The universe had a start, just as every material/physical thing has a start; only something outside of time and space could have caused it. The universe operates by uniform laws of nature. Where did these laws of nature come from? Obviously something outside of time and space is responsible for the creation of these natural laws such as: Gravity, and electromagnetism and electricity, all things we can identify and harness, but are at a loss as to their origin, and these laws of nature never change; they are timeless, even though people keep living and keep dieing. If the universe is simply a product of chaotic randomness given enough time, then why is the universe so orderly, so reliable? When has chaotic randomness ever lead to order?
Richard Feynman, a Nobel Prize winner for quantum electrodynamics, said, “Why nature is mathematical is a mystery…The fact that there are rules at all is a kind of miracle.”

What about DNA? Its code informs, programs a single cell’s behavior. DNA is a three-billion-lettered program telling one cell to act in a certain way. It is a full instruction manual. How did this information program wind up in each human cell? These are not just chemicals. These are chemicals that instruct that code in a very detailed way exactly how the person’s body should develop. Natural, biological causes are completely lacking as an explanation when programmed information is involved. You cannot find instruction, precise information like this, without someone intentionally designing/constructing it. Humans did not put that instruction code there so some else did. The same designer that lives outside time and space that existed prior to the big bang, and put our natural laws in place.

Out of all the religions out there in the world Jesus is the only person ever to claim to be God and he is the clearest, most specific picture of God, bar none. Look throughout the major world religions and you’ll find that Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius and Moses all identified themselves as teachers or prophets. None of them ever claimed to be equal to God. Shockingly, Jesus did. He said that anyone who had seen Him had seen the Father. (God) :eek:He claimed attributes belonging to God alone. He claimed to be able to forgive people of their sin and the ability to give them eternal life in a place outside of space and time. Unlike other teachers who focused people on their words, Jesus pointed people to himself. He did not say, follow my words and you will find truth. He said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through me. Pretty bold claim for a mere mortal to make. If he was not who he said he was, and was in fact just some crazy mortal, then he, as a supposed mortal, claiming to be God, pulled off the greatest miracle ever. It is easier to believe that he was who he said he was. That is what sets Jesus apart from all the others. He said God exists and you’re looking at him. Either this guy was nuts or he was God, and if he was nuts then how did he fulfill all those prophecies and accumulate such a massive following? It’s impossible. He claimed divinity, something religious teachers such as Mohammad never claimed. Jesus did what people simply cannot do: He performed miracles… He healed people…blind, crippled, deaf, even raised people from the dead. He is all alone in that department and surely if this was all a lie, eyewitnesses would have walked away. He had power over creation…created food out of thin air, enough to feed crowds of several thousand people… walked on top of water, commanding a raging storm to stop for his apostles. Eyewitnesses everywhere followed Jesus, because he constantly met their needs, doing the miraculous. He said if you do not want to believe what I’m telling you, you should at least believe in me based on the miracles you’re seeing. Phew. Would you believe if you lived during Jesus’ life time, as a witness? I know I would…

Jesus Christ showed God to be gentle, loving, aware of our narcissism and shortcomings, yet was willing to forgive and die for us. What would a mere mortal have to gain by that. God himself took on the form of man and accepted the punishment for our sin on our behalf. Why would any mortal make such an bold claim and what would he have to gain from such a claim? On a father son level, many loving fathers would gladly trade places with their child in a cancer ward if they could, and so we see in this, a reflection of what Jesus did for the human race. Jesus died so that we could live forever. No other religion can match that! Of all the religions known to humanity, it was a man named Jesus, (who, as God, walked the earth and established His church and said that he would be with his church forever) – who claimed to be God and backed that claim up with super-natural acts.

Why do I think that I am right?

In my estimation all of the evidence points to Jesus Christ. The earth’s perfect distance from the sun, the unique chemical properties of water, the human brain, DNA, electromagnetic field extending indefinitely throughout space of an unknown origin, gravity, a natural phenomenon of unknown origin. Then there is the early church that witnessed first hand the miracles of Jesus and the miracles that God worked through the apostles and the unflinching willingness of those early eye witnesses to die in the name of Christ.

Out of the thousands of religions in the world, how do you know yours is right? I’m asking every individual that read this; how do you know you’re right on this?

Just a question. (:
We don’t. I don’t. No one knows if they are right. We need solid proof and no one has that. We can believe we are right but no matter how confident someone is, they don’t know. Maybe every religion is right. Maybe what you believe is what really happens. Maybe there is nothing beyond death. Maybe every religion has some things right and some things wrong in what happens. Maybe when you die, you are born again into the same life but another dimension to try to learn the lessons you didn’t learn in this life.

I Know I am right! That might sound arrogant but it’s not, and here is the reasons why.

There is one verse in the whole bible that opens up the key to understanding and only if you have good knowledge of the bible as a whole, read up on other belief systems, studied the numbers in the bible and questioned God about all of it.

The verse is: Rom 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,

I read in that verse a creature subjected to vanity something unwillingly.

What all does that mean? It means that you and I had no choice in being born into a world of vanity willingly. No fault of our own.

The question is, whose fault is it then? God’s ?

Well, He did create the first parents and in which they found themselves alienated from God because of knowledge.

In other words, in Adam and Eve, along with all of us, we all find ourselves “lost”.

All of humanity was then, in a lost state condition in reference to God.

So, God created us in a lost state condition of which He alone could remedy.

God knew this and of course as the second part of that verse states: “but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope”.

Here we have God, again, subjecting the same creation in hope, that is that the creation now has a way of escape via Jesus the Christ.

Jesus is “the tree of life” withheld in the creative process so that we could become as gods, (Individual entities apart from God) and later, when Jesus came, He reamedied the “lost condition” of mankind by paying the price for all of humanity.

So, what does that do for all the religions of the world? Well, if Jesus paid the price for all, then what part of all is not covered?

The difference between some is that knowledge of the Redeemer is not known by which if they did, would enjoy the benefits of salvation while yet alive in the flesh.

But because God allows diverse beliefs, it only causes those serious believers in God to tolerate, love as Jesus did all those who don’t believe as brothers and sisters.

Why would Jesus say “Love your enemies”, your neighbors as you love God?

Because Jesus died for4 all.

That is why I know I am right, because I don’t know who my enemy is, my neighbor is and what religious beliefs anybody holds.

I consider all covered by the blood of Jesus whether they know it or not.

Now, here’s a good question for all of you, do you know who your enemy is, your neighbor is and what belief system they have, if you love God?

Love is above all else, as Jesus demonstrated on His way to the cross.

He was: bound, betrayed, condemned, sold for thirty pieces of silver, accused of the chief priests, stripped him, platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, mocked him saying, Hail, King of the Jews, they spit upon him, smote him on the head and they crucified him.

2Sa 7:14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:

You ever wondered why, as a question to God, that Jesus, the righteousness of God would allow Himself to be placed under the rule of mankind to be beaten, whipped and crucified?

Well, the answer is that God is the one who did the subjecting, and therefore, only God is able to save.

So, dear friends, love God with all your heart mind and soul, and you won’t have enemies to worry about, or different beliefs to contend with, for love would be your only motive.

Blessings, AJ

the difference between all the thousands religions and Catholocism, is that Jesus has risen from the dead. mohammed, still dead. buddah still dead. and on it goes. only Jesus, has a claim to the truth. he conquered death, and ascended to heaven. he is God the Son. at some point he will return, and usher in the fullness of his redemption. as to why i converted from protestantism to Catholicism, that is an entirely seperate issue. Peace to you and yours.🙂

Uhm sorry, but you cannot prove that. All you have is the bible which is not scientific proof that he rose from the dead. Scientifically, that is impossible, so without scientific proof, you only have faith to rely on. And thats what religion is. Faith. Because religion talks about the unknown. Unknown meaning things we cannot prove, so it relies on faith. (:

As for the other posters:
Glad you guys are starting to see what I’m getting at. 👍

PS: I am a quite anxious for his return too, to be honest. They say its coming up soon. And they have been saying this for centuries, but finally, the end times prophecies are being fulfilled. Before 1948, it would have been impossible because Isreal did not return to a nation until that year.

Plus the technological improvements in the past 100 years is the most that has ever been done in all of human history. All the prophecies are coming together right before our eyes. I think god will come back before we have flying cars and floating houses though.
But I saw a documentary that in 2050 we’re supposed to be able to have robotic maids, holographic pets, computer- controlled cars, floating cars, veri-chips implanted in humans, and tons more. BUT, I believe god will come back before we could ever live in a world like that. But that is my personal opinion. Which more than likely means that he will come back in my lifetime. I am in the younger generation as we speak.

But please, don’t call me conspiracy crazy. I’m just taking the bibles prophecies and trying to see how they apply to time as we speak.

I Know I am right! That might sound arrogant but it’s not, and here is the reasons why.

[SNIP]
So, God allowed everyone who is alive, to be born in a state of being ‘lost’. Since it is his fault, and not the fault of people, that they are born in such a state, he made a way through which they could be ‘found’. This way was the way of Christ’s death and resurrection. All men are ‘redeemed’ through this act, and are thus found. They need do nothing themselves.

Does this sum up your thinking?

Or do you argue that no one who was born after the redeeming efforts of Jesus, to have been born in a state of being ‘lost’?

Assuming that either of these two perceptions of your writing is even remotely close to your intention, I ask you:

Why have you not yet explained to us why you feel this formulation of the mysteries of the cosmos to be correct?

Does this explain the variety of religious perceptions?

Do you find your formulation to be logically coherent? Is there a part of it which you feel might be unsound?

In your system, what is the purpose of any man worshiping your God? Why should he be loved? Afterall, he caused men to be born in a state which is lesser than he had originally intended. This state, in turn, leads men away from loving him, simply as a result of the states very nature.

Why does evil exist in the world, if all men have already been ‘saved’ from the state in which God created them? Is something incomplete?

Why should men even attempt to ‘know’ what you, in a ‘non-arrogant’ way, claim to ‘know’, if such ‘knowledge’ will do nothing further for them?

What is the purpose of scripture, if men have no need of its knowledge? Afterall, even being ignorant of it, ‘saves’ them anyway.

Instead of offering a divine sacrifice to himself, why didn’t God simply prevent himself from causing men to be born in a ‘lost’ state? Is the former way far easier than the latter? Is it easier for your God to do certain things than others?

I could ask dozens more questions, but I think I have at the very least offered enough for you to reconsider your very strong certitude; or at least to demonstrate that it is not in the least something admirable to reason or to wisdom.

Scripture tells us no one but the Father knows when the end will come so to even contemplate it is to seek something we are not entitled to know. I think the more important thing to worry about then God’s second coming is our going to Him. That is more likely to happen then His coming back to us. We will have much to answer and we better be ready to answer.

Two part response to Noesis post:
So, God allowed everyone who is alive, to be born in a state of being ‘lost’. One has to look at why the “lost state” was the condition first.

The tree of knowledge of good and evil, is not really a tree is it? The word knowledge gives us a clue that it is something that requires a reasoning mind in order to make knowledge of any good.

Here is where Adam and Eve come in to the picture. God created them both Adam. Ref: Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Both had the ability to reason as separate entities apart from God as individuals, or as gods, lower case g.

Ref: Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

What that means then is that on the day knowledge of good and evil is learned, and understood, on that day they become as their own gods, with the ability to discern good from evil.

Now, please tell me what part did mankind take in order to have attained the ability to reason and did they have any choice in it?

Was it God’s creative process that allowed them to become as gods?

Can we say then that it was God who created them that way, and that mankind found itself in a lost state?
Or do you argue that no one who was born after the redeeming efforts of Jesus, to have been born in a state of being ‘lost’?>>> Noesis
Again, you have to look at the works of God in the redemption process. If it was God who in the creative process caused mankind to become lost, then it must be God who is the only entity that could redeem His own creation.

Jesus was from the beginning; meaning that at the time Jesus died on the cross, Jesus included all souls from the beginning of mankind plus and included all future souls not yet born as well in His redemptive process.

Assuming that either of these two perceptions of your writing is even remotely close to your intention,:>>> Noesis

“Remotely close to my intention”? It is my perception as I see it based upon my searching’s, study and prayer.
Why have you not yet explained to us why you feel this formulation of the mysteries of the cosmos to be correct?>>> Noesis
I explain as the opportunity allows, since I am sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Just as like you, asking me these questions, allows me to answer.

The cosmos, as in the heavens and all there is, is simply explained in the bible as God’s creation, and the mysteries of all that is for our exploration.
Does this explain the variety of religious perceptions?>>> Noesis
The variety of religious beliefs was in part to the lack of light on the subject of who God was from the beginning of humanity, and until the light of the world came, as Jesus, who has revealed the true nature of God.

The many gods’s created in the imaginations of mankind attest to that fact.
Do you find your formulation to be logically coherent? Is there a part of it which you feel might be unsound?>>> Noesis
Logically coherent: To many no, because most are steeped in their own religious beliefs understandings.
One must be able to think outside those perimeters in order to find answers.

I
n your system, what is the purpose of any man worshiping your God? Why should he be loved? After all, he caused men to be born in a state which is lesser than he had originally intended. This state, in turn, leads men away from loving him, simply as a result of the states very nature.>>> Noesis
You’re asking a question and giving the answer all in the same question.

Let’s take the first part of your question “After all, he caused men to be born in a state which is lesser than he had originally intended”.

The “he had originally intended” part was His intention that we should be made in His image, as like Him, not as unlike Him.

That being said, we are the lesser, yet given power to subdue the earth and power over all the animals.

Power: to manage our own affairs as we chose.

Continued on next post

Continued from last post:

The second part of your question is the answer: “This state, in turn, leads men away from loving him, simply as a result of the states very nature”.

Why does not everybody love God? Why are many angered against God for human sufferings, deceases, earthquakes and the like?

Why are there so many unbelievers?

Could it be that they harbor anger for not living in a perfect state? I mean, what choice had they?

Suppose, that God needed to be chastised for all that in Jesus?

Why would a perfect man have to be chastised in anger as one that could not save Himself, let alone all of humanity as the hope was in the eyes of the high priests?

Were they looking for a God to save them from there pain and sufferings in a man who claimed He and God were one?
Why does evil exist in the world, if all men have already been ‘saved’ from the state in which God created them? Is something incomplete?>>> Noesis
One can not exercise knowledge without the ability to do so, as in reasoning or judgment between two extremes and not be as a separate entity as gods.

We have to be as gods, or like in His image in order to know the differences between good and evil, and exercise judgment; hopefully, good judgment.

Evil is the opposite of good, one can not be without the other if, we are to generate any good.

The spirit of mankind is God given, as in the breath of life, and Eve is the earthen vessel the breath of life resides in.

But because the first birth is in the flesh, and the flesh is lost, a rebirth is a must, but in spirit.

Jesus came to afford us that gift, the tree of life, also meaning, knowledge of the gift of God in Spirit to us ward in the form of Jesus, so that we may reach out and take of the fruit of that tree and live forever in rebirth.
Why should men even attempt to ‘know’ what you, in a ‘non-arrogant’ way, claim to ‘know’, if such ‘knowledge’ will do nothing further for them?>>> Noesis
Knowledge of anything of God is only good to the one who seeks it earnestly, honestly, and truthfully in willingness to worship God, for the bountifulness of life in gratitude, praise and knowing that at the end of this life, being with Him is joy everlasting.

There are three things: Knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
If we have knowledge, we strive for understanding and in our striving, tribulations if you will, we can gain wisdom on the first try, but if not, than, it is repeated until we do.

Such is the life in the flesh!
What is the purpose of scripture, if men have no need of its knowledge? After all, even being ignorant of it, ‘saves’ them anyway.>>> Noesis
Contraire’, my friend, scripture presents knowledge, knowledge we can consume, digest and learn from, as scripture is a lamp unto our feet in a dark world so that we can see not to stumble.

But again, stumbling is not a bad thing either, for we have to look down and see what caused us to trip, and hopefully, embrace the light (God and the scriptures via Jesus)and see not to stumble again over the same thing.
Instead of offering a divine sacrifice to himself, why didn’t God simply prevent himself from causing men to be born in a ‘lost’ state? Is the former way far easier than the latter? Is it easier for your God to do certain things than others?>>> Noesis
What is a robot is the answer to that question.
I could ask dozens more questions, but I think I have at the very least offered enough for you to reconsider your very strong certitude; or at least to demonstrate that it is not in the least something admirable to reason or to wisdom.>>> Noesis
Your questions are good ones to ask and I don’t mind answering to the best of my ability to explain.

Our ability to reason is a gift of God but came with a consequence that needed God’s redeeming gift as well and justly provided in Jesus for all of mankind.

To love God willingly is our greatest gift to Him, and one He so cherishes and lavishes as noted in the following verse: Psa 68:4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.
Psa 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Two Commandments’ Jesus left us, Love God with all your heart mind and soul, and love your neighbor as thy self.

Work on those two, or one or the other, willingly, and you gift to God will be rewarded handsomely.

Blessings, AJ

Out of the thousands of religions in the world, how do you know yours is right? I’m asking every individual that read this; how do you know you’re right on this?

Just a question. (:
I’m guessing that many on here “know” they are right because they believe they are. That is in itself the start of difficulties. We can also ask “right according to what?” Faithers of every stripe will say “Why, according to my religion, of course!” And of course there is the gamut of “One True” religions to support that. But do even two people fo the same nominal faith practice the same religion? Probably not. they are both individulas who picked up some things and not others, believe son and not others, or have unoique shades of experience or meaning attached to different parts of belief. Just look at pew polls or the 15 question religion test on another thread. One interpretation of the original results had atheists better informed about some matters than the faithful.

Everyone who has a religion acquired it by some means. Maybe we can agree that one’s religion isn’t a matter of genetic coding. And all the religions we might be considering in this question are relatively new. As people, we’ve been here some 190,000 according to the geological record, unless you believe as new Earthers might. And the Bible you you and many claim to be the history of Man’s relationship to a Creator started to evolve somewhere in the Bronze Age as a series of books complied by nomads who had not the kind of insights available to us in this day and age, as well meaning as they might have been. We can see as well that even with the span of about 1700 years between us and the formation of the Bible in its generally accepted canon, it is a very young book compared to the age of the race. And that “canon” is, despite your “religion,” OP, still hotly contested as to not only meaning, but as to actual content. So I’m not sure how you come to that statement if you have studied the origins of the Bible even a little. And despited its best-seller status, yet only about 1/3 of the world population is even nominally Christian.

So, yes, we have and have had thousands of religions. And what we have as a human condition is that we need to grow up with a measure of competency as far as survival. That means then, as nomads or cave men or whatever, and now, as people who live in a cloud of technology that even got us to the moon. But what about being “right?” Don’t all the people who have a belief system believe it is “right?” Of course they do. So are you asking about some abstraction like being able to read everyone’s mind on Earth from somewhere out htere and having a Standard Religion and tick through all the people–rrwrwwwwrwwrwrrrwrwrwrrrrrwwrrwwwwwwwrrrwrrrwrrwrwrwrwr etc up through the six billion alive today? Then, of course we can go back through time, from about 200,000 years ago and up through the years: wwrwrwrrrwwwwwwrrwrrwwwwrrwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwrrwrwrwwr etc? But what standard are you going to use? What you think God will use? The Infinite All Knowing God? Hmmm… Does God even know about religion? Or is God just Love, and if you Love you are to that extent close to God, religion or no? Lots of questions, OP. Not many answers,

Rather than being “right,” how about being virtuous, loving, creative, and supportive of what is good in others and yourself? Religions are of their nature contentious, especially the Abrahamic ones since the invention of the devil not too long ago, or the nature ones that demanded sacrifices. There is always the question of opposition in front of the theological mind. Bu if God is All, how is here opposition? Is God divided against God? Is God in favor of one country or team over another, both of whom are praying for victory and feeling that “God is on our side?” Seriously, does anyone think that God takes sides???

Mostly, religions bring God down to the level of ordinary men in the guise of elevating them. They pit their own beliefs against that of others as being the one and only. But what is it that allows all these differences to coexist at the same time? Could it be that God doesn’t care and is operating at a level that religion as we understand it doesn’t touch? That’s my bet. As soon as we give up theologies and just do good as honestly as we can, the sooner we will become a civilized and Holy people. Just ask yourself, “If I was drowning, would I ask the religion of the person throwing me a rope?” Or “Do I need to know the faith of the doctor giving me this antibiotic that is saving my life?” Or "What if that person is the Christ disguised as my unpleasant co-worker, or my wife or my child or the tax man? Of course we will say that that person is just who they appear to be. But why is the Great commandment worded as it is? And how about the Golden Rules? Why are those worded in those precise ways? If I treat the “other” as myself, what does my religion need to be? Or do I have so much time I can speculate on the myriad layered interpretations of Bronze Age and 2000yo books?

Scripture tells us no one but the Father knows when the end will come so to even contemplate it is to seek something we are not entitled to know. I think the more important thing to worry about then God’s second coming is our going to Him. That is more likely to happen then His coming back to us. We will have much to answer and we better be ready to answer.
He said to watch for the ‘signs of the season’ which is why we have end times prophecies, basically to warn us for what will eventually happen. to be alert.

I’ve never given it a thought, mostly because I’m not concerned with proving it to anyone, or trashing my fellow Christians – a popular sport here – or anyone else, for that matter.

Never thought about it, honestly, don’t need to. I don’t know what God’s plans are for others. But I’m pretty sure His plans for me don’t involve pissing contests with Catholics, Lutherans, atheists or anyone else about what is 100% truth. Those arguments are the driest of dry wells.

:rotfl:

Now compare that with the Koran, which is said to be what an angel told Mohammed. Whree do you think you will find greater authority: from God Himself? or from an angel? (and remember that angels come in two varieties: the good angels, and the bad angels which we call demons or devils)
Why oh why would ‘the devil’ be the cause of a religion that stresses the importance of God and his sovereignty?

I think people give the devil to much credit… lol.

I agree with this thread anyways. At least to me, personally, I have had deep conversations with myself stressing over the thought of who on this Earth is right and who isn’t. I mean what if we did get it wrong, what if Jesus was not God himself and we contributed our entire self to sincere devotion to a man, who God has told us… worship nobody but HIM. Jesus said worship ‘My Father which art in Heaven’. HIM. HE. HIM. My Father. Our Father. Than you have that other said of you that says wait a minute what if I’m being led astray here and Jesus really is God… than guilt sets in. What to do, what to do.
