I have not been condecending, and your posts are in clear violation of forum rules
Tommy, your language speaks for itself. Whether you think me “kantian” or not isn’t registering as anything that I should regard as important.

Why so angry? Instead of lashing out, perhaps you could explain how Truth is subjective.

Tommy, I can’t let you misrepresent my statements any further. For the record, you’re on a kantian kick I’m not buying.

I don’t misrepresent your positions, how about you extending the same courtesy.

But on the other hand, you’d probably win the debate only if you debated yourself, so, …

there was only one guy that was right and they crucified him,do you know the man?

if you do then your right.

John 14:6

6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

If you’re referring to me, then of course I know the guy. I am a Christian.

How can you prove that out of thousands of other religions you are right?

Again with the ad hominems and irrational ranting. What gives?

Saw this article on another forum.
Classic research has suggested that the more people doubt their own beliefs the more, paradoxically, they are inclined to proselytize in favor of them. David Gal and Derek Rucker published a study in Psychological Science in which they presented some research subjects with evidence that undermined their core convictions. The subjects who were forced to confront the counterevidence went on to more forcefully advocate their original beliefs, thus confirming the earlier findings

I realize this guy is speaking from an atheistic POV, nevertheless, it is a good expansion on this subject
Is ‘doubt’ a good thing?

Whoever said this thread was about doubt?
Its about how do you know you’re right.

I do not doubt God, but I do know I could be wrong in which religion is ‘true’ IF given real evidence of me being wrong.

I know the Christian religion is right for me based on what I know and have gone through. Which is a long story, but I do know that I could be proven wrong if I was to literally be PROVED wrong.

Key word “proved”.

Out of the thousands of religions in the world, how do you know yours is right? I’m asking every individual that read this; how do you know you’re right on this?
First, the question makes the decision harder than it was. It did not appear to me that there are thousands of religions.

There only a few religions, and everything fits into one of the categories.

The Catholic Church is the only religion that was in a category of its own.

That has nothing to do with my main question.

I asked how you know you’re right out of the other thousands of religions there are.

I think the answer is “you don’t”. You just feel that you are right yourself. Its about convincing yourself and using faith to think you’re right. Doesn’t necessarily mean you ARE right, it means you think you are.
I am in that position: I have not made up my mind on Christian churches. I am relying on my personal relationship with God. I know God is real to me because of certain things that have happened.
I have made up my mind about Jesus Christ. But church is a different matter. I have given up with the protestant understanding at the moment because it would take me forever to get my head round all those different denominations. I did think i was right with some churches that i had been to. Then latter i think i am wrong. I have had long periods were i have not gone to any church. I am looking into the history of the catholic church at the moment to get a better understanding. There the ones who put the bible together. There are only 3 different types of catholic churches. RC, OO, EO.

Yep. I understand. 👍

I know that being a catholic is right because
EVERY Protestant religion can be traced to being founded by a man.
the Catholic Church is traced to St Peter, who was Christ’s beloved friend.
So, I think it’s a fair bet that Christ’s friend was not left high and dry to figure out religion!

Secondly, I beleive Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Jews, Buddists, Muslims , Jehova’s Do NOT believe this.

A belief. 😃 So not proof? But belief?

You have that right to your opinion, but that does not necessarily make you ‘right’ per-say, only to yourself. But thats cool too. I agree with you.

Just a question. (:
I’m a universalist because I don’t think anyone can know 100% for sure they are right.

Sure people say they’ve talked to God and maybe they have but I know anti psychotics can make conversations with God go away. But other than that I feel the same way, there are 1000’s of religions so I don’t see how one can be certain they are right.

If you really want to get confusing look up how Christianity is based on pagan religions in a lot of ways as well as Judaism, Zoroastrianism and other faiths, when you look at it all Christianity isn’t that original or unique but Catholics were the start of Christianity so I don’t see why oher denominations accuse Catholics of heresy, it makes no sense at all to me-it’s so backwards…

Religion is confusing and the world is crazy 🙂

I guess the proof would be the lineage of each denomination.
If you have time, research them.
There are A LOT of branches off of Cathlicism.

Many religious people say “I know im right” when talking about their religion. Well how do you know for sure you’re right? There are thousands of other religions out there. How do you know YOURS is the 100% right one? You don’t. You can’t.
Let me direct you back to your question. What about you? How do you know that you are right and we are wrong??? And would yours hold up in court?
