:o Oh my, I grew up in Germany and never learned how to pray the rosary ( don’t laugh:nope: ). I would love to be able to feel comfortable doing it, though. Even my friend, who just went through RCIA, knows how, and I just can’t seem to get it. Is it best to go when they have a rosary service to learn? Please don’t think I’m stupid, but I really don’t know what to do:o

Try this link, it’ll walk you through the Rosary, and a little advice, just stick to 5 decades for now, and preferably on their designated days.
Otherwise you may not keep it up, rosary-center.org/howto.htm

When I remember, usually when I have a long drive or waiting for someone, most time get through one or two decades. … but on really long drives get through one set of mysteries, rarely if ever get through all 3 or 4 set of mysteries.

Before KofC meetings we get through all the Luminous mysteries (it’s on Thursdays)

I gave up trying to get through a Rosary before bedtime… I usually fall asleep before I finish the creed 🙂

There is also a wonderful .pdf file that you can download. I have it on a site I use to send pictures to my family. The link is home.nc.rr.com/thedeansuploads/

Hope this helps!

Yes thank you for the links. This helps a lot. The virtual rosary seems very easy to follow. I do pray the rosary but not enough. I need to make it a priority.

I pray the rosary more than every Sunday, but not every day. I try to do it every day, but it is tough.

I pray the rosary three times a day: 1. In the morning, sorrowful mysteries 2. At 3:00pm joyful mysteries 3. At 9:00pm, glorious mysteries.

It is quite easy if you sread it out over 15-20 minute blocks, and i put reminders in my mobile so i don’t forget. You all should try putting reminders in your mobiles to get into the habit. It has been a great help, and the practice makes it easier for me to meditate, and my mind wanders less.

Also, the scriptural rosary does help A LOT.

Cheers.

Thanks for tips, guys!😃

I’ll try both links
:blessyou:
Hello was reading the Hail Holy Queen on that site, and it should say Hail Holy Queen Mother of Mercy, Hail our life out sweetness and our hope------ I haven’t checked the rest of the prayers, but don’t want you starting off on the wrong foot.

I try to pray at least one set of mysteries a day, but sometimes I miss a day, and sometimes I pray two, three, or (once in a while) all four sets of mysteries.

I also pray the Franciscan Crown Rosary, so that’s a set of seven mysteries (The Seven Joys of Mary).

I try to pray it daily, through that day’s particular mysteries. I’ve been getting good at falling asleep halfway though, so I decided to move it an hour before I go to bed, as apart of my nighttime ‘ritual’. 🙂

Just started back praying the Rosary, and hope to make it a more frequent (hopefully daily) devotional.

I was told, can’t remember who, that if you fall asleep praying the rosary your guardian angel will finish it for you. I kinda like that.
I believe this is true. I had not heard that before, but one night when I was very tired I asked my guardian angel to finish my rosary for me if I fell asleep while praying it. I did just that.

By the next morning I had forgotten about it, but as I made my way to the coffee pot I discovered that my rosary was hanging around my neck. Doubt I put it there…:hmmm: :yup:

I prayed the rosary daily for quite some time (5 decades) and more recently only at times, but am heading back in the direction of a regular devotion.

I used to pray the Rosary daily but through hospital visits and being knocked out thorugh medicine, my habit slipped. I am beginning again, and I usually pray Rosary when I need to other than as I lie down to sleep each night. Thanks and God Bless.

I “try” to get in 5 decades a day, sometimes I get more, but usually I forget 'cause I’m readin threads here. 😃 I know it’s no substitute.

I’m doing better with the 3pm Divine Mercy Chaplet than with the rosary. (Is that bad for a Catholic: to be honoring Jesus more than Mary?)

i try to pray through five decades daily, though there are days i fail to do so:o 😦

I definitely don’t pray it as much as I should…sometimes I’ll try to sit in before mass when I can get there early, but I usually don’t make it…I have found that when I’m really scared or worried about something, it just suddenly pops into my head and I start saying it without realizing it…and it always helps me, calms me down, and I know that it’s working:) I love the rosary, and I’m really trying to work it into my daily life more often:)

I like to take walks and pray the rosary at the same time. I use to take the bus to work and pray the rosary from the bus stop to work. I also like to pray the rosary as I walk to church.

:amen:

How exactly does one offer up a prayer for something? Like for the first Hail Marys, does someone just say “I offer this Hail Mary for:_______?” Errr, and also, off-topic, when I hear about paying for the “Repose of the soul of blankity-blank” is that just prayers to get people through Purgatory faster?
