Sadly, it seems that Eucharistic Adoration is greatly under-appreciated. First and foremost, I say my prayers of Thanksgiving. I am so blessed and I love lifting my gratitude to Him in prayer.
I find comfort in praying for something and then say the Hail Mary, Our Father, and Glory Be; pray for something else and repeat the three core prayers, etc. I tend to pray for the same things at each visit - for those who are persecuted, for those who persecute, for the poor souls in purgatory, for our religious leaders (including our parish priests, sister, deacon and lay leaders), for our political leaders, for family members, friends or those who I know are in need, to bring others to the Church, for those contemplating abortion…lots of things as well as my own faith formation and my desire to serve God more fully. Seriously, when you think about it, there are many, many people and situations that need our prayers.
I like to meditate on a reading and open my heart and mind to Him. This is good for many because in your meditation you may feel God speaking to you.
I’ll take breaks where I say a simple adoration prayer and just quietly wait for God to talk to me. The more I’ve gone, the more I’ve felt confident that He talks to me. What a glorious feeling!
Somewhere I read something that epitomizes my feelings about EA. It is along the lines of Jesus’ sacrifice for us…can we not find an hour or a few minutes to go to visit, thank, and glorify him?
I hope these ideas help. I wish our church offered it ar a time I could attend regularly (they offer it during the workday) but we do have an aforation chaple with the Tabernacle that I visit often.
