Is it enough to just say it and offer up some prayers or should it equal the amount of prayers you prayed for an intention?

I think God delights when we recognize our blessings and give thanks. Prayer ultimately should about your relationship with God. It’s not an accounting session.

“Thank you Lord”.

More prayer is good but you don’t have to use many words to say thank you. You just have to mean it.

A lifetime of prayer cannot be recompense for God’s grace. And, what we view as a small grace actually has great and eternal consequences, which go far beyond what we may perceive. Thus, it would be inadequate to spend our lifetimes in prayer, as finite thanks cannot repay an infinite benefit.

That being said, we can (and should) include thanks in our habitual daily prayers - recognizing that an intention received is as much a blessing as that which was denied; that suffering is as much a blessing as heath; that spiritual dryness is as much a blessing as consolation.

A long way of saying that we should pray constantly with our hearts properly disposed. A simple, profound, heartfelt thanks can be completely satisfying to God. No need to add up the hours and days. God is not that type of accountant. His ledger records love.

That’s pretty simple: “Thank you, God for all you. Amen”

I think we can say thanks to God in three ways – 1. Prayer, 2. Doing good deeds for others, 3. Donating to the Church and to other good causes.

St. Teresa of Avila once received a big favor from God, and when she asked Jesus how to thank Him, the answer was “attend one Mass.”

You just say it. I whisper inside my head “Thank you God” I know he hears me. 🙏

I usually say “THANK YOU GOD!!!” and then typically I launch into a Glory Be prayer.

But the thing is, I find I’m usually so thankful that I end up thanking Him numerous times! I believe I really only need to thank Him once… but it’s just so ‘human’ of me that I often gush “Thank You God, Oh Thank You” and end up saying it numerous times or over numerous days, or with numerous prayers.

I figure God is probably shaking his head and laughing at me with a sweet smile thinking “Girl, you only need to thank me once… but it’s sweet of you to keep thanking me anyway!”

🤣

Just say, “Thank you”, and really mean it. God already knows what you’re thankful for, but it certainly honors him to specify the blessings for which you are grateful.
