Thanks and looking forward to our conversation“For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.” Isaiah 64:6

We become righteous (justified) by Jesus Christ. By grace through Faith and Baptism.I believe we are not righteous unless we do righteousness. What says you?
Yes thanks I left one very important thing out “by his GRACE!”We become righteous (justified) by Jesus Christ. By grace through Faith and Baptism.
Then his grace we remain in him and live by charity…walking in the Spirit…walking in love…following him and thus becoming more like him…
I agree what is the issue? None of the verses suggest one can not be righteousMatthew 9:3…I desire compassion, and not sacrifice, for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.
Matthew 6:1…Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them, otherwise you have no reward with your father who is heaven.
Matthew 15:8-9 (Caution for religions) - This people honors me with their lips but their heart is far away from me, but in vain do the worship me teaching as doctrines the precepts of man.
Matthew 13:17…many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it; and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
“It is dangerous to speak of God, even when what you say is true…false things said about God are dangerous, but so too are the true, if said when the time is not right.”
The question itself presupposes a righteous response - it cannot be answered without assuming a righteous position.I agree what is the issue? None of the verses suggest one can not be righteous
I’m sorry can you clarify? The question itself presupposes a righteous response - it cannot be answered without assuming a righteous position.
rephrasing my previous response…any response to your original question is itself a righteous response and should not be offered lest you (or others) be led astray.I’m sorry can you clarify?
We are not righteous unless we do the works of God and do them for Christ’s sake. There is no legal sleight of hand where God all of a sudden does not see us as we really are. He sees us and knows us and all of our sins better than we do.I believe we are not righteous unless we do righteousness. What says you?
Q: How does one become righteous? For a conversation starter
Amen! The question itself presupposes a righteous response - it cannot be answered without assuming a righteous position.
