How does one confess adulation?

How does one confess adulation? I seriously need to condense my confessions, but if you said "I committed adulation 5 times" that would probably just be the genus, right? So what are the species of adulation? Are they the 9 ways of sharing in sin? So could you say "I praised people for committing sins 5 times and commanded people to commit sins 5 times." Or is the species also what sin it was? So it would be "I praised people for schism 5 times and I concealed someone's theft 5 times." Please no anecdotal answers.

Note: When I asked this question I thought that adulation was a general term for all forms of scandal.

I assume you mean the dictionary definition of "adulation", viz., extreme or excessive admiration or flattery.

Taken all by itself, it is hard to see how this could ever be gravely (mortally) sinful, people often go overboard in praising others, and it is unlikely that grave harm could result from it. (Personal note, many members of my non-Catholic extended family would praise one another to high heaven for their outward goodness and virtue, it got pretty nauseating to listen to, cloyingly sentimental, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it mortal sin, possibly no sin at all, just mawkishness.) Now, if you are praising people for sin, yes, that is sinful --- I'm not going to get into mortal/venial distinctions here, I suppose it would depend upon whether the sins you are praising are mortal or venial --- and praising them for schism, well, that's pretty bad.

Why in the world would you praise someone for sin? That sounds kind of twisted. Bottom line, just don't do it. And if you are commanding people to sin, cut it out. That has no place in the life of a Christian.

Beyond that, I have to recommend that you ask a priest how these sins are to be confessed, but again, just don't commit them in the first place, and you will have nothing to confess. And if you think you might incline to scrupulosity, tell him that too. Priests deal with that all the time.

Yes, hence the importance of knowing what needs to be confessed. Also what I really meant was scandal apparently, not adulation. I thought adulation was a general term for making others sin.
 
Scandal, meaning "doing something that causes someone to sin", is indeed a sin, however, that said, everyone is a free agent and they have to make the choice to sin. You certainly wouldn't want to do something on purpose with the intention of praising someone's sin, or deliberately leading them into sin, but at the same time you cannot tippy-toe through life, fearful that your innocent acts will lead someone else into sin. Relax and don't be obsessed with the idea of leading others into sin. Again, it's always their free choice.

1. Tell Father that you suffer from scruples. 2. Get a good examination of conscience. One of the best is by Fr. Robert Altier and costs maybe $2 at Catholic bookstores. 3. If you have not, get counseling for th3e scruples. Being one aspect of anxiety, they are well known and treatment is well -established. You deserve to live in peace.
