Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.“Get their come-uppance” indicates a desire to see them embarrassed, put down, “beaten” in some way.

You give them a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and tell them to look it up. We never pretended to be a polling agency, and we still don’t. None of this is about opinion. If they don’t like what the Church teaches, they don’t have to be Catholic and they’ll just have to accept the consequences. It is what it is.You tell someone that you strive to be a good Catholic by following the teachings of scripture, and then a person attempts to discredit your faith with stuff like this:
You get the idea.
How does a person respond to this without sounding like a “Cafeteria Catholic”?
Good of you to see this. I hope that you will take the rest of what I wrote to heart.Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.![]()
This is exactly why we have the Church and her teaching authority. A Catholic is one who heeds those teachings, allowing her to digest Scripture and Tradition for the very purpose of rightly divining the truths of of our faith. Follow the Church, not yours’ or other human interpretations. You tell someone that you strive to be a good Catholic by following the teachings of scripture, and then a person attempts to discredit your faith with stuff like this:
You get the idea.
