How does the church explain dinosaurs?

Anyway, back to the OP…

The Church definitively teaches that the Devil planted dinosaur fossils throughout the world to tempt the faithful. Dinosaurs never existed. In fact, unless it is explicitly described in Genesis, it doesn’t exist period. National Geographic is among the many instruments of the diabolical network of devious scientists and anthropologists who have conspired together to brainwash the masses. All of modern geology, biology, anthropology, and astronomy is a sham.

Oh wait…that’s what the more extreme fundamentalist Baptist sects teach. Pretty remarkable that we’re encountering almost the same thing here from Catholics!

Evolution is a lie conceived from the same lie Satan first tempted mankind with. “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden” “Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

If Catholicism doesn’t believe in the literal 7 day creation it is but one of many of their faults and unbiblical teachings.

You can take a dog and mix breed it a billion ways and you’ll still have a dog. You’ll never get a cat or completely different animal from a dog. The big bang is a lie and a very bad one. Making big dogs and little dogs out of a dog isn’t in the same universe as something creating itself in space that created itself and has energy that created itself and exploded by itself and went into more space that created itself and kept exploding by itself until eventually it rained on the rocks for millions of years and life itself created itself in single celled organisms and taught itself how to breed into bigger organisms that taught themselves to breed… good grief what a lie

Ah… So America was deliberately planted by the Devil so as to allow President Trump? That might explain why so many American Evangelical and other Christians supported him: they were deceived by the Devil. 😃

I know you’re unfamiliar with the teachings and beliefs this non denominational Church I want to check out adhere to, but I do know that they don’t allow for the belief in evolution.
Is what you described above how those who believe in the literal creation story reconcile their beliefs with science?

That’s a very extreme example. I don’t think you’re likely to encounter it in many churches today.

I hope you’re not considering leaving Holy Mother Church :(.

I’m open to both staying or leaving, at this point.

The Catholic Church has no issue with accepting that dinosaurs existed long before humans did. The fossil record is there as pretty convincing evidence, in my opinion. I speak as a Catholic who accepts evolution (and who studied palaeontology at university many years ago). I see no conflict between my position on that and Church teachings.

Conversely the Church does not look down on those that have a view of creationism…

How does this go on for hundred of posts???

As if Father’s post at #2 did’t fully answer, for good measure, I’ll add:

“Dinosaurs were sort of like lizards, but a lot bigger, and are related to modern birds.”

There.

Fully explained.

Hello, dustdev14;

Theistic evolution is compatible with Church teaching.

Please explain God’s role in theistic evolution.
Every so often He nudges a cosmic ray particle so it zigs rather than zags, thus causing exactly the mutation that God wants to happen.
