How does this happen?

My final observation is that there is such a war between Islam and the rest of the world religions.

I respect Islam’s dedication to outward modesty…and the devotion to prayer…

But please…don’t stereotype…it goes both ways…and the most adamant appear to be the ones who can destroy all that God has created…

Sister Amy, I have seen various online conversations regarding the second video you posted. All of them among Catholics. I haven’t seen anyone who is in support of this type of thing, and everyone I’ve read is against it, and certainly wouldn’t call it “Christian”.

As to who is speaking out against what…my opinion is that for a very long time, the US news media doesn’t report on anything that is of substance. Just because you don’t see it on the news, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. They rarely report anything that isn’t sensationalized, or just plain meaningless. I stopped watching so-called mainstream newscasts about ten years ago.

So the conversations are in fact happening, there just isn’t news coverage, and you aren’t going to find them on Fox News or MSNBC.

On the flip side, people watching these videos thinking this is how all Americans and/or Christians think, act or believe, can go down the path of thinking this is how all non-Muslims are, when we are not.

All people need to make themselves better informed. The behavior is legally protected, but poor behavior by people cannot be controlled by anyone but themselves.

Muslims pray 5 times a day and since the area in front of the White House is a public place, he has the 1st Amendment right to do so.

Taunting someone who is praying is however NOT a 1st Amendment right and so while the Muslim is not doing anything wrong to pray there, the people who are taunting him are indeed doing something which is morally wrong according to the teachings of Jesus Christ (pbuh) as written in the Bible.

As for appearing pious in public, does the Bible permit one to taunt his neighbor who do wish to pray in a public place for whatever reason?
I don’t think so, not specifically. We shouldn’t have to consult a rule book on it, however, as you imply. Common manners (the “moral compass” within a person) should tell us that. Jesus did become angry with hypocrites, however.
And I guess that I shouldn’t be surprised that some people would ask the question or need a rule book if the one they currently follow tells them to kill homosexuals, apostates, etc. And speaking of the pious hypocrisy that angered Christ – ironic you dropped the “Muslims pray 5 times a day” reference.

Beg you pardon, though, “taunting” IS, in fact, a First Amendment right. Hello?

See, that’s the problem with your version of freedom – your freedom doesn’t apply to everyone. Ours does. The man can pray, the others can taunt.
They are all morons, imo. They deserve each other. Maybe you should join them.

It is very strange that Muslims say what Jesus said in the Bible was corrupt, but you use His words as truth to your cause.
Yes, they do that ALL the time. It becomes incredibly easy to use the Bible to bolster Islam and attack christianity when you do that. Related to the mythical injeel which Islam does not produce. Ranks #3 or #4 on my onbections/observations to Islam.

Hamba: you are afraid to answer the question I asked ear;ier: what do you think compelled the muslim fellow to pray in front of the WH?

I don’t have a problem with free speech. What I’m asking is how people get so crazy that they do things like this?

Is that what this great country is becoming? A country of raving lunatics?
I hope not. We might end up looking like a country in the middle east. Unfortunately there are wackos everywhere Amy. I don’t think the majority of people in the US are against feeding the poor.

I’ll be quite honest, I had a rather positive outlook on Muslim’s until I came to this forum.
Sadly, this is true for me as well, which is why I rarely read the Muslim threads. The posts by Muslims here are very depressing. 😦

I pray for our world daily. God can change hearts.:signofcross:

Is it funny that you’d question why your faith is persecuted while posting videos that misrepresent themselves?

Seems to answer the question on its own.

I had a positive view of Islam too, until I started studying it 10 years ago.

I’ve never thought well of Islam, but at one time I could have seperated it from the people.

As it stands now there are some Shi’ites I have respect for, although you’d think based on religious beliefs they’d be the more unbalanced ones.

20 years ago I would catch myself saying Mormon when I meant to say Muslim. That’s how much I knew about Islam. We ,as Americans, are forced to learn about Muslims after 911. Not to say all Muslims would kill them selves but it saddens me to know that many Muslims use God’s name for murder. Where are the moderate/good Muslims marching in Washington DC saying " We reject killing, we reject Al Queda" .I want to see a million Muslims march to denounce killing. Where are they!!!??

So far Ive not heard a Christian kill someone and then shout “God is great!” or hear of deaths of some sort of enemy and say the same thing. 🤷

And Christianity has no blood on its hands?
Christian’s (as opposed to Christianity… we’re talking about the followers of the faith here, not the faith), have plenty of blood on their hands, both against other Christians and non-Christians. But unless you have some recent examples to share where Christians have gone on killing sprees and not been condemned by other Christians, it really has no relevence.

That’s the thing, 99% of all Muslim’s do not want to blow anyone up or to incite violence. The problem is that the vast majority of those (the exception oddly always seems to be Shiites) will not condemn those acts unless pressed into it.

…But that they would harass someone showing up by himself just to pray? Taunting him like that? And in the name of their religion?

Is that what this great country is becoming? A country of raving lunatics?
To infer we are a country of raving lunatics based on the rude behavior of half-wits who lurk on the street in front of the WH – possibly the epicenter political/religious crackpots – is hyperbolic hypocrisy, amy.

You are an administrator at an ICNA-backed website where anti-western, intolerant, islamist rantings are posted all the time. When non-muslims post something to the contrary, they are called souless, racist trolls; then are summarily dismissed while a blind eye is apparently turned on muslims with an axe to grind.

So I consider your outrage as contrived and narrow.

Hamba passed on this question, so I’ll see if you step up: Why do you suppose the muslim chose whacko central to do what he did?
He was either from another planet or he wanted to provoke, imo. And it soesn’t take much to provoke those types, who probably would have behaved about the same had a catholic knelt and prayed.
I contend he probably could have taken his act to just about any location outside of Ground Zero and he would have been basically been ignored or undisturbed.
Do you disagree?
I had a positive view of Islam too, until I started studying it 10 years ago.
Similar to my experience, although I wouldn’t say I have a negative view of islam.

I would think that Shia know what it is like to be a persecuted minority, so that might explain their somewhat less apathetic stances. However, if you look to the one Shiite theocracy in the Middle East (Iran), you will find that there the inverse happens: Sunnis claim to be oppressed.

It’s okay, though. They are united in their mistreatment of Christians, so don’t worry.

Islam is not as old as Christianity.
