"Martin Sheen has worked with both his sons, but for his latest picture, ‘The Way’, he asked Emilio Estevez to help him to make a movie about the ancient pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Every year, around a hundred thousand modern-day pilgrims still travel parts or all of the 800 km trail from the French Pyrenees, through Northern Spain, to their final destination, the Cathedral of Santiago De Compostela, where the remains of St James, an apostle, are buried.

A practising Catholic, Sheen had heard about the trail from his father who was originally from this region of Spain but emigrated to America."

Yeh, that was pretty cool. Not only do I hope to see the movie when it’s released, I would also like to make the pilgrimage. It would be wonderful.
 
A little off topic, but it must be really hard as a father to work on such a film with one son and then to have the other son get himself into so much trouble.

Our Catholic dicocese paper ran the article about the film a month or so ago, and I do hope its released. I would love to see it.
 
A saw a headline claiming that Charlie is suicidal. Whether it’s true or not, clearly he needs a lot of prayers, as does his family during this difficult time.
 
It sounds like a great idea for a film, but to be annoyingly “legalistic”, last time I checked on it, Catholics are not allowed to “scatter” cremated remains.Perhaps orthodoxy was not really on the film maker’s mind, but it does serve to confuse the faithful a bit.
I speak from some personal experience in my family when a brother passed away and we received suggestions from a social worker at a Catholic hospital that conflicted with Church teaching.We had to call the diocese for the right info.
Still sounds like a good movie /good intentions overall.
 
I knew that he followed the Catholic tradition with a liberal bent:

He was always at the protests at Ft. Benning against the School of Americas as well in 1998 and 1999. We use to drive by him when we had to go off post during those protests.
 
Sheen has been active in catholic social justice movements of a variety of stripes for decades. I think he was big on the alleged Medjugore visions as well.

He always comes across as being truly committed to placing the call of Christ first and his own desires second. Regardless of whether I agree with his priorities or not, I gotta respect that and admit that he does his thing better than I do mine. We’re all called to different things.
 
Martin might be religious but Charlie’s past sexual escapades and romps and current insanity warrant some serious prayers needed! The guy is off the hook
