Yo, TNT!
Say, inasmuch as I went to Mass there at that “Carmelite Convent” to the Society of Saint Peter’s Indult Mass myself for a period of time over six weeks or so, in zero one, I’m afraid their website’s a little misleading as it might imply, unintentionally, that “Carmelites don’t agree with us on the Tridentine Latin Mass.”
Having visited the Carmelite Convent 300 miles or so south of Dallas in Morelos, Coahuila, I know there’s a lot more to it than that.
In Morelos, the Mother Superior assured us that the Bishop of Saltillo, over 200 miles south, was due to drive up to offer the Tridentine Latin Mass of the Angels at around 4:00 in the morning, to celebrate the safe arrival of the relics of the Little Flower to her flourishing convent-under-construction, set in the middle of nowhere.
I’m afraid that in Dallas it’s a flat-out racial-cross ethnic issue.
At least from late August through early October 2001, the style of those particular Carmelite nuns was to chant their Divine Office in a sort of nasal wail, in minor sinic keys.
Didn’t matter if a Tridentine Mass was due to start on the other side of the wall or not.
Plus, unlike their Mexican counterparts who are exuberantly pro-active in community and village affairs, these nuns seem to be really cloistered!
Thanks!
