How far do you drive to attend the TLM?

You people are speeders! šŸ˜›

I have a 35-mile one-way trip, and it takes me about 48 minutes. I think I would not balk at having to drive 120 minutes. Beyond that I guess I’d have to stop for lunch or something. All the cars wizzing by would make me dizzy.

Yahoo Says I Drive

26 Miles To The ICTKSP Mass - and we are officially joining…
and then 27 miles another direction for the FSSP mass,

I could go daily if i wanted but my work does not permit,

We usually make it every sat. to the ICTKSP mass every Saturday, and the FSSP for High mass on Sunday.

Is this wrong to attend two different parishes?
I feel connected to both…

To throw this into the mix there is the head SSPX Priory in the U.S. about 30Miles away… 5 from the ICTKSP
the SSPX’s Regina Coeli House is about 40Min Away.

I have never attended the SSPX mass but have used their bookstore.

off topic:
We also have 2 N.O parishes within 5 miles from the home… I sometimes go to early daily mass there if i have time but a Sat. or Sun. Mass makes me so sad i cry everytime i see one

I drive all over for the Tridentine Mass. I can drive as far as 55 miles one way, which takes a little over an hour.

My parish is only 20 minutes away. We only have the Tridentine Mass on Sundays at 10:00 AM. I go to Shrine of Christ the King on the south side of Chicago on Tuesdays for the St. Therese novena. I also go to St. Mary’s Oratory in Rockford, which is also run by the Institute of Christ the King. This is the one that is 55 miles away.

This is a really old thread!

Today I drove 600 KM round trip to attend an FSSP High Mass. It was well worth the trip. I so do not look forward to my regular parish next Sunday after going to the High Mass today.

Goodness! You are dedicated!

(PS. When Caveman mentioned you on his blog I felt like you achieved some kind of celeb status. My priest was like ā€œWho’s that?ā€)

:rotfl: It’s not the first time he has singled me out! We had a little fun with telemarketers a while back. The Caveman is my favourite blog.

BTW, your priest reads the Caveman’s blog???

'Bout a half hour drive for me to St. Francis de Sales Oratory in St. Louis. Run by the Institute of Christ the King Soverign Priest.

Wow. God bless everyone who has to drive 20, 30, and 100+ miles or more. Your love and devotion for our Lord is beautiful. Now I feel bad for thinking 10.5 miles was too far (or 17 miles- we would have to drop off the dog at my mother’s house on the way, because he has separation anxiety :console:, so that adds a few extra miles along the way). The main problem isn’t so much the distance, as the mass time though. We go to evening mass on Sunday because our schedules are just too out of whack. Unfortunately, the parish that I usually attend at night (it’s not latin mass) advertised centering prayer in their church bulletin last week. Very disappointing. So I’m in the process of changing our schedule so that we can go to the loyal parish from now on, and besides the N.O. mass hopefully maybe sometime I will also attend their latin mass.

It is about 13 miles from my house to the Cathedral in Austin. They are moving our TLM further from me. It used to be at a closer parish. It will be really lovely to see it in the Cathedral though. I don’t attend often though. My dd isn’t always cooperative and we have a good NO 3 mins from the house.

He is actually the one who introduced me to Caveman’s blog. Haha!

I’ve heard a lot of good things about that Church. I hope to visit someday.

Here in Kansas City I’ve got three options:

SSPX: 13.1 miles
ICRSS: 13.6 miles
FSSP: 26.2 miles

Hello my Fellow Kansas Citian

Have you ever been to the SSPX Mass?

Thats the only one in the area I have not attended as I still understand their Mass’s are illict?

My best friend is a priest who left the priesthood to marry. This is a discipline of the Church which did not evolve until the Middle Ages. Our Eastern brethren don’t have this dicipline and it doesn’t bother me one bit. My friend married my wife and I as a priest and he is active in his parish’s ministry. HMC is accepting married priests from our Lutheran and Anglican brethren…I know far too many good priests who left the priesthood simply because they wanted to marry. I am a traditional Catholic, but I don’t have any problem with this.
No Eastern Churches allow priests to marry, they allow them to be married before they are ordained. However, the practice pre-dates the middle ages and is like a 4th century development.
