1234, the Catholic OP is asking a question that is very much alive within the Anglican Communion.

There is a crisis in the Anglican Communion. This thread has been as much about Anglicans dealing with the issues creating the crisis, as about answering Catholic questions on the crisis. Sometimes these discussions get heated, no doubt. Most of us are very passionate about what we believe. But, at least we are talking.

You have no right to decide what issues should concern posters. We must talk to one another in the hope and spirit of Christian unity.

I’m not deciding which issues are discussed on this or any other forum. That is for the CAF moderators to decide. The problems in the AC, such as the question of WO in the AC, is properly a question for Anglicans and among Anglicans. Others may certainly opine about it, but ultimately it is no more than that–opinions. The Catholic Church has decided its view–it* has* no questions. There are not many Anglican voices in this forum, unfortunately. Many posters are former Anglicans or folks undecided where they belong. We’re hearing few Anglican voices.

I think that Catholics would very much resent if Protestants on the Non-Catholic forum were to opine (somewhat gleefully) about all of the problems in the Catholic Church and how to combat them, such as having a married priesthood to combat pedophilia (not an effective strategy, according to the experts). Catholics may want to say, “Butt out!” I have similar feelings. Of course, anyone may say anything—it’s a free country. Whether those affected, Anglicans, care about non-Anglican opinions is another matter.

If there is unity going on, it is among the Protestant groups, and between Anglicans and Protestant groups. I don’t think that there is serious talk about Catholic and Anglican unity taking place right now. There are the splinters converting and—they hope–entering the ordinariates, either as laypersons or as priests, and I predict ultimately in fewer numbers than originally projected, but aside from this there is no other progress. One of the things that unites the Anglicans and Protestants, aside from the Southern Baptists and Missouri Synod Lutherans–is women’s ordination.

Wow…Stevie Ray Vaughan, one of, if not THE greatest blues guitar players of all time. He redefined blues and rock fusion in the 1980’s and inspired guitar players (like me!) across the world. He’s a legend, nobody comes close. He conquered a ton of drug and alcohol abuse issues after a long war in rehab, got clean, and came out better than ever. He died, tragically in a helicopter accident after a show in the early 1990’s. I was devastated to hear it. He’s a guitar hero of mine along with Steve Lukather, Steve Howe, and a few others. All my favorite guitar axe slingers start with “Steve” go figure…

SRV is a hero in Texas, especially San Antonio and Dallas. I’m a California boy and the guy’s an icon for me. I wish to God I could’ve seen him play…

My faves are “Tin Pan Alley,” “Leave my Little Girl Alone,” “Can’t Stand the Weather,” “Scuttle-Buttin’” etc. I like his more famous stuff but it seems like the quiet, lesser-known stuff appeals to me the most as a guitar player. I’m a Stratocaster/Telecaster player (I own one of each) and so this guy is my bread and butter as a Fender guy!

When I was in the Philippines, the filipinos (who follow any trend the U.S. throws at them, sadly) played that blasted “baby baby” song in every home, every store, every mall, every taxi. It was truly a foretaste of hell. It would make even the most saintly rush to adoration, pray the rosary ten times a day, and become even more pious to avoid the chance of hellfire.

My personal hell would be having to hear that song 24/7 while forced to watch American Idol and seeing the Raiders win a Superbowl and Dodgers win a World Series all at the same time. Lord have mercy!

Ultimately, all things within Christendom have some effect on all Christians.

So, now you are deciding which posters are the real “Anglican voices”? The fact is that some Anglicans, such as myself, lean far more towards Catholicism, and even Orthodoxy, than Protestantism. So, of course the departure from Christian orthodoxy occurring within the Anglican Communion will give cause to seriously consider Catholicism.

Actually, Protestants do come to these forums and criticize the Catholic Church in just about every way possible. I disagree. If I left the Anglican Communion, I would not consider any “Protestant groups.”
