How have you managed to remain Catholic?

In my country when someone does a repair job or makes something and cuts corners* doesn’t do it throughly it’s called bodging, the person doing it a bodger and the whole job on completion ‘a bodge’. I was tempted once to do the same but then I had a thought, God does not bodge.

I have a beautiful dahlia blooming in my front garden atm but a few weeks ago it had greenfly which was seriously damaging the blooms, then I sprayed it with plain water and perhaps the season changed slightly and wow what a difference. The damage was just temporary and the plant not diseased.

I don’t know much, I’m just a lightbulb, the Catholic Church is my supplier and God provides the power. I have a strong feeling that if I changed suppliers my bulb might dim. I’m a Catholic because that’s the socket God put me in.

(*in topiary it’s fine to cut corners.)

Look up “Eucharistic Miracles”

Pray to St. Michael the Archangel, like we used to do, before it became unpopular in the 1970’s.

It didn’t become “unpopular”, the prayer was usually customarily said after Low Mass. Once Low Masses were no longer celebrated in 1970, that was that.

I’m 62 years old and was a Protestant until two years ago, when I started RCIA classes and entered the Catholic Church. I have seen a Baptist minister that was prominent in the community, arrested and sent to prison for child pornography. I’ve seen Church of the Nazarene congregations torn apart from internal politics. We’ve all seen things on the news of scandals in many Christian denominations. No church is without flaws. Focus on Christ and work to make the Catholic Church stronger. The Church is made up of the faithful, so do your part to make it stronger and pray for our leaders.

There’s an old “Charlie Brown” quote:
“I love mankind, it’s people I can’t stand”.

People can and do disappoint us, but Christ, His promise, and His Church do not.

Keeping that in mind, it’s really no problem “managing” to remain Catholic.

I must say that I have reexamined what it is that I am loyal to. I am loyal to Christ not the hierarchical church. If someone tries to tell me they are the same thing, the coverup scandal proves otherwise.

Well, in light of this “scandal” I actually look at the facts and not the rantings and ravings of the “chicken little” Catholics on this site, and the “haters” in the secular world. This ‘scandal’ is about things that are 30 to 70 years old. The church (at least in the U.S.) has put in place protocols to insure that nothing on this scale happens again. I have faith in the Holy Spirit to lead the hierarchy out of the ‘darkness’

And like others have said, I do not let the sins of men shake my belief in God. I’ll receive His Son tonight at Mass. Where else could I possibly go and do that???

Hi there everyone. New to this site. I am in a personal turmoil. I am a Catholic convert since 1985. I am also Gay and in a totally monogamous Gay Marriage. Now my priests are always supportive of my marriage and we are discussing a LGBTQ support group. In light of that. Should I stay and help men’s this divide and bring peace. Or go back to the Anglican Church where I am fully accepted where it is easy.
Hi, rdavid1. One of the problems in the Church has been gay priests molesting boys past puberty, and then McCarrack enticing, or bullying seminarians to sleep with him. I honestly don’t think an LGBTO support group in your parish would go over very big right now, not if it supports same sex marriage against Church doctrine. I believe it’s wrong of your priest to tell you that going against Catholic doctrine is okay. It’s never okay, and am suspecting he may also be gay and speaking from emotions rather than truth. I’m a single woman and must live by the same rules and I’d be saying the same thing to other singles thinking it’s okay to live in sin, according to our Church - it’s not okay. But then you’ll have to follow your (properly formed) conscience, won’t you? God bless.

The prayer to St Michael is one of the Leonine Prayers, which were said after the Latin Low Mass .

Once the Low Mass was discontinued in most places about 1970, that was it for the Leonine Prayers including the St. Michael prayer

Jesus loves me even though I have temper tantrums and tell Him to go to hell. To whom skall I go?

Sorry, rdavid1, but you are not married in the eyes of God or the Catholic church. You’re only married civilly. Gay marriage doesn’t exist in the Catholic Church, so you might as well go be “where it’s easy.”

I’ve experienced a lot of disappointment by members in the church for a long time. This is particularly bad, but I guess, sadly, I am used to it. I separate my religious beliefs from the failings of the people in the church. If anything, it affirms my beliefs. If the Catholic Church is TRULY the Body of Christ then of COURSE that is the place that is going to be the most under attack by the forces of evil.

There’s a lot going on that I’m really concerned about but it’s best to take it a day at a time.

Many apparitions and beliefs of the saints, though they fall in the category of private revelation (not required for belief), did tell us that things would get really bad. Most of all, Jesus indicated this in the bible.

The Church doesn’t recognize Same Sex Marriages. Hopefully, anything done in your Parish will follow Church Teaching on this matter.
Should I stay and help men’s [mend?] this divide and bring peace.
I’m not sure what divide you’re talking about…
Or go back to the Anglican Church where I am fully accepted where it is easy.
There are many issues here. You need further instruction in your Catholic Faith.

Are you looking for what’s easy, or what God wants of you? Are you trying to make God’s ways your ways, or your ways God’s ways?

How come this doesn’t have more likes? It makes perfect sense.
