How heavy is your cross?

Just wondering, how heavy are your crosses? you dont have to be specific or personal but the Lord says that those who perservere until the end will make it, and i have definately noticed how difficult it is at times… so i wonder, how heavy are your crosses? how do you guys deal with adversity when people make fun of you because of how you are? a christian?
 
So far, three cancers, a stem cell transplant and Graft-Versus-Host-Disease. In the shadow of the great Saints, I am learning to embrace, even to enjoy suffering for love of God. That is my goal, with God’s grace.
 
I honestly don’t feel like I have much of a cross, but I fear the day when God hands me my cross, I hope I am able to take it.
 
My cross is not particularly heavy, but it’s long, drags, and frequently causes me to stumble.

I’ve been carrying a heavy cross of bad health for over 30 years … and lately it’s become insane … I have about 4 health issues happening at one time … so my cross is heavy … and I thank God for it … because I know I need a heavy cross to help get me to Heaven.
 
My lack of trust makes my cross (a health issue) heavier than it should be.

The only one you need to trust is Jesus … it’s easy to trust Jesus … He earned our trust on the Cross … pray to Jesus … ask Him for trust … He will make your cross lighter.

I will pray for your health … God Bless you.

Pwlj…Trying to reign this in for clarification because there are different types of crosses … It appears that you are speaking of the cross we carry because of our faith as a Christian… Not our individual crosses say with our health. That I gathered from the last part of your question.

I suppose that the further into our faith (or closer to Jesus) we go the heavier our crosses are. I have gotten jeers because I wear a crucifix or place my faith important in my life so some people and friends have criticized me for it. Some people who have been very close to me just turn into themselves or tune me out when I bring up my beliefs and what I’m involved in so I find I can’t talk to them openly about what really is important to me and that hurts. It’s as if I can only talk to them on their terms and what I am about is unimportant to them.
 
I’m a carer for two people, one of them is the most important person in the world to me, the other one is a family member who needs help but has a difficult personality.

It’s hard to see the person I love in constant pain, and it’s hard to always be good-tempered with the other person.

More than once I’ve confessed my guilt over the second of these.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”

My cross used to be overwhelming, involving, among other things, health problems and disability.

But the Lord had mercy and taught me about devotoin to Him through His Mother, in the book True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis De Montfort, along with other books.

I made his Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary in 2014.

St. Louis says that those who follow this way to Jesus through Mary are given heavier crosses, but that Mary’s maternal presence makes them light and sweet.

That is my experience. Of course there are ups and downs. But Mary is the sweetness of the Cross.

She is our Mother!

I have a a rollercoaster ride when dealing with my particular cross. At times, I barely notice it and it doesn’t seem like that much of a problem. Other times, everywhere I’m turn I see aspects of my cross that make it feel almost unbearable and I feel overwhelmed and alone. However, despite the hardships from my cross, I can see the blessings like realizing my dependence on Christ, the necessity of my faith, the strength and grace I receive from the sacraments, it forced me to actually address what I believe and why rather than just coast by in my spiritual life, and I feel has helped me be more compassionate and charitable than I’d might be without my cross. So, it sucks sometimes but I can appreciate the blessings I have because I carry it.

I’m not really open specifically about my cross in general but when people make fun of people with my particular cross (especially when fellow Christians are teh culprit) I just grit my teeth and just deal with it. It hurts and I often retreat from that environment as I’m not really a confrontational person. I try (and fail sometimes) to just forgive and pray as they often don’t understand the pain they are causing.

my cross includes legal problems, and having a mental disorder…
 
My cross is no heavier than usual - it’s just when I take my eyes off my Lord that the burdens seem worse. A lot has happened lately but it seems that I tend to look at my Lord more when seems seem bad. Thank God that He’s there for me right now.

Any cross I may have is simply nothing compared to the one our Lord carried for me.

I’m not going to make a fuss. Things can always get worse. I think God daily for the many blessings I have.
