How heavy is your cross?

It varies from day to day.

Sometimes it feels as if it is made from English oak and sometimes from balsa wood.

My cross is exactly the weight it’s supposed to be. Not feather light, but not impossible to move, either. I don’t always carry it properly. At those times, it seems heavier. 😊

Utter resentment towards myself-personality and body. From my gender all the way to how my toenails look, haha. It gives me physical pain-literally. Struggle with self harm here and there. Not enough money for education, too stupid for a scholarship.

The cross is honestly not as bad as many people’s. But the fact that I can’t even pick it up makes me more resentful 🤷

This post is supportive in it gives hope and comfort to those who have crosses to bear. I go to a chronic pain support group and found my problems little in comparison to others. . Most of us have crosses of some kind but with Jesus we’re helped through those stormy waters. What’s amazing is that I came close to Jesus with a life altering conversion just ‘before’ I was diagnosed with a painful incurable diseases. I believe Gods timing was perfect because I couldn’t do this without Him. I thank God because I would be lost without Him. I experience healing through the sacramental graces I receive through the Church so have come a long way from where I was. The most healing came from a Priest through a healing mass where he anointed my hands and said something compassionate to me as if he understood what I was going through.

My cross used to be overwhelming, involving, among other things, health problems and disability.

But the Lord had mercy and taught me about devotoin to Him through His Mother, in the book True Devotion to Mary by St. Louis De Montfort, along with other books.

I made his Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary in 2014.

St. Louis says that those who follow this way to Jesus through Mary are given heavier crosses, but that Mary’s maternal presence makes them light and sweet.

That is my experience. Of course there are ups and downs. But Mary is the sweetness of the Cross.

She is our Mother!
Thanks for your testimony. I also did the 33 day consecration. I used a book called 33 days to morning glory. Also very useful in order to use as a (annual) renewal of your consecration.

Just wondering, how heavy are your crosses? you dont have to be specific or personal but the Lord says that those who perservere until the end will make it, and i have definately noticed how difficult it is at times… so i wonder, how heavy are your crosses? how do you guys deal with adversity when people make fun of you because of how you are? a christian?
I remember hearing a Homily at church some time ago… the priest told of a story of a Catholic church in which the pastor talked of everyone having to carry a cross in life to his congregation…

That pastor then said, “I am giving everyone here the chance of throwing off your crosses’… now throw them all in the middle aisle of this church”…

But then the pastor said that each person has to have a cross to carry… so go in the aisle, and pick any cross that you want, but you won’t know whose cross it belonged to, or what suffering the particular cross had in it, until you place it on your shoulder…

The congregation fearing that they might pick a cross that was worse than what they originally had… each decided to pick up their own cross that they had thrown in the aisle.
