it’s almost as if the true God has been calling them.
So there are two Gods??it’s almost as if the true God has been calling them.![]()
What is about them?through the sacraments, and His Word.
Remember that St. Paul says that he (yes, he, Paul) saves, too.I think a better question may be “Who” saves a person?
1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures
Romans 3: 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God** which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe:** for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
ETA; Non-denominational protestant here (and I mean truly non-denominational, not the non-denominational denomination). lol
Firstly I do follow Christ.evil is against God’s will, as revealed in the Holy Bible and the teaching of the Magisterium. why would you follow someone who came along after God revealed himself to the world in the person of Christ? we have everything we need through His sacrifice on the cross, His church, and the Sacraments He instituted, to live a holy life now, and share in eternal life with Him afterward.
Joseph Smith said:I am trying to do some research on the viewpoints of different Christian denominations and I would like to hear from many of you your views on what one must do to be “saved”. I would love to hear mostly from different Christian denominations but other religions are welcome too. Please don’t use the vague terms “accept Jesus as your personal saviour” and “have a relationship with Jesus” I want to know in your own words exactly what those things mean.
Here in this life we must gain power to conquer the adversary. We do this by turning to the spirit that is within each one of us. It will lead us right and show us the way to peace and contentment in this life. Of course, this is all thanks to Christ who allows us in our fallen state to have a connection to the Father through the spirit.“Salvation is nothing more nor less than to triumph over all our enemies and put them under our feet. And when we have power to put all enemies under our feet in this world, and a knowledge to triumph over all evil spirits in the world to come, then we are saved, as in the case of Jesus, who was to reign until He had put all enemies under His feet, and the last enemy was death [see 1 Corinthians 15:25–26]. (History of the Church, 5:387–88)
huh?Remember that St. Paul says that he (yes, he, Paul) saves, too.
Yep.huh?
Remember that St. Paul says that he (yes, he, Paul) saves, too.
I understand what you are saying, but don’t you think it is irresponsible and dangerous to go around indiscriminately saying “Paul saves” without any kind of greater context or explanation? If an ignorant person (by which I mean someone who is not as versed in the Bible and Christian theology as you or I) hears you say that, it is very easy for them to get the wrong idea.Yep.
If, by any means, I may provoke to emulation them who are my flesh, and may save some of them.—Romans 11:14
And Scripture even says that we can save ourselves!
Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.–1 Timothy 4:16
Any time we save (or Paul saves, or Mary saves, or the saints save), it is because we are united to the atoning death of Christ, which purchased our salvation for us, once for all.
It is no more irresponsible and dangerous than it is for you to say God is 3 Persons in 1 God, indiscriminately, without any greater context or explanation.I understand what you are saying, but don’t you think it is irresponsible and dangerous to go around indiscriminately saying “Paul saves” without any kind of greater context or explanation? If an ignorant person (by which I mean someone who is not as versed in the Bible and Christian theology as you or I) hears you say that, it is very easy for them to get the wrong idea.
Paul also said “For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake” (2 Corinthians 4:5). And again, “For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified . . . and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God” (1 Corinthians 2:2-5).
So you think there isn’t an issue with you raising up Paul (and everyone else apparently) to the status of savior? Because, that is what you are doing, and whether you want to admit it or not, that is problematic coming from someone who professes to believe in Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, the Resurrection and the Life.It is no more irresponsible and dangerous than it is for you to say God is 3 Persons in 1 God, indiscriminately, without any greater context or explanation.
You, of course, understand that when you proclaim this, while it is 100% true, that it requires further discourse.
