Have taken some time and done some thinking. Marie and the others are right. The LDS Church is not a cult, nor a heresy and we should embrace every religion. The Catholic Church is not the only church. I should return to the LDS Church…in the spirit of embracing everything.

Thank you for opening my eyes…

Be Blessed

I sincerely hope this is just sarcasm on your part, TK.

No, Marie and the others are right. We should be all-embracing and they have convinced me there is nothing wrong with the LDS Church.

We should all rethink our positions

…not convinced. I can embrace a Muslim without becoming one. Nothing is worth giving up the truth, once you’ve found it…I know that to be all-too-painfully true.

I had been taught that we are either right or we are wrong. If we are right, we should fight for that and not give an inch.

I have learned I was wrong. There is no real right and wrong. We are all right. We should embrace all.

Some of my favorite times loving God came when I was LDS…I loved my mission. Since there is no real right and wrong, I figure I should just go back to where I was when I served my mission

Porknpie- As you said, this scripture tells us that ALL die in Adam. That is original sin. But the verse ends “so ALL will be made alive in Christ.” Christ overcame original sin for ALL.

Yes, Christ did die on the cross for OUR sins. That is why it is called the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins:

“John did baptise in the wilderness, and did teach the baptism for repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordon, confessing their sins.” (Mark 1:4-5)

When John baptised in the wilderness they didn’t confess Adam’s sins because Christ overcame the fall of Adam for ALL. They confessed, repented and were baptised for their own sins. Here again we see they were baptized in the river Jordon implying baptism by immersion. There is no reason to go down into a river otherwise.

Yes, we are made members of the body of Christ through baptism, but the above scriptures do not tell us we are cleansed of original sin by baptism. Christ over came original sin on the cross for everyone. “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Cor 15:22)
Keeping children in death caused by Adam seems cruel. Why do Mormon’s withhold life in Christ until 8 years old?
Paul “implores” us on behalf of Christ to be reconciled to God. This shows we have some responsibility in the new covenant.
Why would you withhold this reconciliation until the age of 8?

I never said otherwise.

I am talking about God’s great love, patience, mercy, towards all. His meeting us where we are at in order to shepard us closer.
Hi Marie, I don’t think you and I have the same understanding of God meeting us where we are. 🙂

Baloney, sir. Snap out of it. We love ya. Go n’ take a breather.

It will be interesting to see if his relativism and new-found acceptance of all religions will last past April 1st.
it does, we report him as having apparently been hacked…

Totally out of character.

MTOlympus,

Do you believe that sin came into the world through one man?

Romans 5
12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death came through sin, and so death spread to all because all have sinned — 13 sin was indeed in the world before the law, but sin is not reckoned when there is no law

Some people would rather hold hands, and sing Kumbaya than deal with the cold hard truth.
I was bashed for saying they are a cult and heretical. I was told we need to embrace them. If they are no longer wrong, that is where I belong

I would say that some people simply don’t understand that it is a high and noble expression of love to stick to the truth, even when it would make others uncomfortable. People need guiding lights to draw them towards the truth, and good example.

I am used to Mormons telling me I am wrong…it was odd to have Catholics doing it…hence my re-investigation of the issue

recently I heard a great line from a priest.

I think it relates well to today’s culture that thinks tolerance is a virtue, feelings are more important than Truth, and loving everyone is one big hug.

He pointed to the fact that Jesus got angry, I don’t recall the verse, but somewhere throwing a chair. Elsewhere, telling a father that came to Him for help for a sick child that he just wouldn’t believe unless he saw.

Truth is a good cause to fight for, and we have examples by God himself in OT and NT where He was strict and straight forward.

Love isn’t all hugs.
