How is the LDS a cult?

Absolutly, I am glad you pointed that out. LDS missionaries have to dodge a few eggs, our military men are dodging real bullets an more. But then is you that have been crying about our poor, poor missionaries. I knew it was simply a class envy tactic all along.
LOL :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Class envy? Where do you get this stuff? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Read my signature. I have dodged those bullets so your mishies can dodge eggs.

You are starting to sound more rediculus that usual.

The LDS missionary age was recently lowered to 18 for men and 19 for women. The response from the high school senior classes has been tremendous. There is no one locked in a compound. I am actually stunned at how many are signing up to go early. No one has to fill out their mission papers or they wait another year as before. They are very enthusiastic. Very inspiring!

But then, who wouldn’t want to take that first step on the corporate ladder. Next comes the calling of Bishop, then Stake President! But then it will all be worth it when that call of Mission president comes through. Yes, at last a free plane ride! A nice place to stay for three years, and of course free Christmas gifts for the family!
And yet you totally dodged everything in my post.

I will give you credit though, you have fulfilled one of the many mormon stereotypes. If you cannot defend your position, attack the poster. Yes, that is telling someone their posts is ridiculous boils down to. Good Job!!! 👍

The chosen few are reaping everything they want off the backs of the lowly masses.

Smith did it. Your mission presidents are doing it. Your own church leaders are doing it.
Haven’t you heard of the multi-billion dollar shopping mall?

BTW: Once you learn to spell ridiculous, then maybe you can call someone else ridiculous.

Oh so so so unfair and unjust. 😦

In the LDS youth group that I was apart of, several joined the military.

Mormons are well known for their patriotism. It’s one of the reason why the government recruits Mormons, esp from BYU, for various positions of service. I was interviewed by various governmental agencies for friends who were seeking governmental jobs.

Such an unjust comment in the face of reality. 😦

Im sorry you ever made it. 😦
Thanks for your opinion, but I stand by my post. 🙂

You realize that the government recruits from every university right? Not just BYU.

I’m a Roman Catholic, and I am employed by the federal government. I served in the US Air Force in a highly sensitive position, as did several of my Catholic and Protestant brethren. What’s your point?

I’m afraid you are trying to read more into the post than what was there. I never said anything about patriotism, but merely growing up. It is you that is trying to put a patriotic spin on it. 🤷

Still is. Just point out the origin.
You’re the one who used the qualifier “originally”.

Using that qualifier indicates that in your thinking the intent changed at some point.

Why use the qualifier?

The highlighted part is funny. If they dont serve, its a slap in the face to the families. Its just like them leaving the church. Shunned, hated, loathed. Many of my current friends who were lds and didnt want to go on no mission were cast aside from their own families and their church because of it.
👍

huh?

I have served in both. There is NO similarity. That is simply ridiculous

Not for the women, kimg, not for the women.

My point is Mormons are heavily recuited, so the idea of joining the military to “grow up” is unfortunate…

They are very patriotic. They step up to the plate in droves. Hence the reason one of the more LDS populated areas of the country is DC/Virginia.

But yet again, you realize the government recruits from EVERY university right?

What is your source for “heavily” recruited? I will let you in on a little secret. Recruiters swarm every college campus.

I will state this again. My comment was not directed toward patriotism. It is you that is taking it there. If you reread my post, and I strongly suggest you do so, you will see I made no mention of patriotism.

Quite frankly, I don’t appreciate you trying to put words in my mouth on that issue either.

I look at this thread and I wonder.

Why would any Mormon, even with an inkling of thinking that the LDS Church was wrong, want to be Catholic by some of the examples shown here?

I really do pray for Mormons, for those facing the crisis of faith that Mormonism brings.
They are good people, under a distortion.

I pray for them. Always.

Then forgive me please.

Actually, I think it’s been a pretty good thread overall.

We are up to 1100 posts, and there has been no bloodshed. 😃

It has only been in the last 50 posts or so that anybody has gotten out of sorts.

In the history of mormon threads on CAF, that is exceptional!!! 😃

I think we all pray for them, but we are not praying for their church organization. I think we have to remember to keep the two separate.

I hold no ill will toward any of the mormon posters on here. Their organization, that’s a different story, and that is because of what they do to their people.

ETA: Apology accepted

I just want to say, for those brothers and sisters who prayed with me, who were LDS,

Their love for me was real. Their prayers for me were real. Their surrounding me in a hospital room after surgery was real.

May God bless their souls for being being there, for being charitable, even if their understanding was distorted.

I appreciate their love, their prayers, their charity.

🙂

As much as I have disagreements with Mormon theology, the above statements are true.

The Mormon reaction in lowering it’s age for missionary service from it’s youth to serve missions, and to do so freely, has been positive.

They do so freely, willingly, gladly. Esp the females who are under no obligation to serve.

To deny that is to be really naive of Mormon culture. 🤷
I disagree. There is a tremendous amount of pressure out on male mormons to serve. It is awful. Not only from parents, but from girlfriends, local leaders and friends.

It is not THAT voluntary…

That is what a few Catholic posters here do. They are VERY judgmental and holier-than-thou. I pray for them, too

I have no idea if the LDS who claimed to pray for me had real prayers or not. I cannot see into their hearts. I have no idea if they were charitable or not. When they were calling me at all hours calling me apostate…it did not seem charitable. When they told me I was committing the unforgivable sin and was going to hell with no hope of salvation…it did not seem charitable to me. When they tried to kidnap my children…it did not seem charitable to me.

But I could be wrong
