If people could list how long they pray each day that would be great.

I would like to figure the average!

It’s not really the time you spend praying, but how sincere you are when you do it that matters.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to be trying to figure “the average”.
Also, posting about prayer times would likely be like bragging for people who have the luxury of praying a long time, and might make someone who is juggling job, child care, elder care, health care responsibilities and can only pray 5 minutes a day feel bad.

Just trying to figure the average some days I pray 5 minutes other days 1 hour some days longer I know the Bible speaks about praying morning and evening I think !

How would knowing the average length of time other people pray be useful to you? There is much more to prayer than just the amount of time we spend doing it.

Furthermore, each of us has an individual state in life and a set of responsibilities and priorities based upon that state. As a result, prayer routines vary greatly. What is important is finding the routine that suits your particular circumstances. You can’t compare your prayer life to anyone else’s.

Very sporadically, but when I’m doing it consistently and well a minimum of an hour, moving up from there gradually is the plan. Following this will make you do at least an hour to an hour and a half daily, it also will make you a Saint done consistently over your life: The Alphonsianum: A Christian’s Rule of Life - Chapter 2 (A Christian’s Rule of Life by St. Alphonsus).

I couldn’t say really. I sort of talk to God throughout the day as things come up. A rosary takes me 20 ish minutes. If I had to guess, I’d imagine I average 30 minutes to 1 hour when I am diligent in keeping my schedule.

Depends on the day. Depends on how work is going, whats going on, how tired I am, if I’ve overslept…

There really isn’t a set time for prayer. I’d say that so long as you say your rosary every day and consecrate your actions, thoughts, works etc to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts, and just do your best, you are striking gold. I try to spend at least five mins in the morning and evening plus the 15 minutes of the Rosary. I’m lucky though as I have an hour long commute each way so I have plenty of opportunity, others might not have that chance. A person could approach Our Lord with a good heart and sincerely say “Thank You and I’m sorry” to Him and be doing waaaay better than someone who prays for hours on end. Quality, not Quantity my friend.

At the very least bare minimum, I do a morning offering/mediation for about 5 mins when I wake up, and a rosary at some other time point.

Other devotions and Mass or whatever, depends on how my day unfolds.

The same way sports players compare how long they train or how many games they play it’s a bench mark.

What gets measured gets accomplished as they say !

I’m struggling to pray at the moment for two weeks trying To get motivation to start again !

I try to get to the daily mass most days about 10-15 minutes early to have time to pray. I try to keep a prayerful attitude through the day, with more success some days than others. The bottom line is not enough. But I’m trying.

Thanks I think starting the day and going to mass early a night prayer really add up especially if you start adding the weeks and years up ! Thanks for your comment and your prayers to God

don’t pray enough? Just add a rosary or a chaplet of St Joseph to your daily routine…

15 to 30 minutes a day is a common goal for laity.

Personally, it depends on the temperament of my kids and whether I have time to sneak off to pray. I try to pray the hours of the Monastic Diurnal, a rosary, chaplet, and some other devotional prayers each day. But like I said, that depends on whether I have the time.
I recommend simplicity until you find a regiment for yourself. One Our Father, three Hail Mary’s, and a Glory Be morning, noon, and night is a good start. Select some prayers or a devotion that you like and make praying those your goal each day. If you sit and focus on how long you are spending in prayer, then you most likely won’t be able to focus on prayer itself and wind up timing yourself.

Keep in mind that an Our Father said with devotion can be more efficacious than an hour of distracted prayer.

Benchmarks have significance in performance-based activities like sports. Prayer is not a performance-based activity.

I understand that you are in difficulty, however, so I do hope you find the solutions you seek.
Keep in mind that an Our Father said with devotion can be more efficacious than an hour of distracted prayer.
A priest reminded me of this at a ridiculously busy time in my life, when I was clearly biting off more than I could chew on the spiritual path. It helped me immensely in my spiritual struggles at the time.

Just try making a commitment to pray X amount of time for 30 days and see how it fits you. Go up or down from there if needed, and try another 30 days. Prayer should not be thought of as a chore. I confess at times I have felt that way.

Used to spend about 3 hours before the Blessed Sacrament. I suppose a similar time at home. That was then and this is now. No way I can stay awake that long anymore. Maybe an hour and a half now, and sporadic prayers through the day.
