Technically I’m a cradle Catholic. However, I recieved all my first sacraments and spent my teenage years at a parish that was trying to legally break from Rome…that preached contraception, no mortal sins, no need for confession, statues were idolotry, Bible reading was for prots, you didn’t have to follow the Pope, women could become priests, priest should be married, etc…
To them church was about giving a good donation, learning how happy Jesus made you, getting free coffee on the 3rd sunday and a couple of really good craft bizarres that were the admiration of the tri-city area.
so basically a protestant church…
discovered Catholocism in it’s true form at age 19, just before college.
