I know people in the Mormon Church who have prayed for years without getting a positive answer that Mormonism is true. How long should a person pray to find out whether or not Mormonism is true? Should a person pray and ask if Mormonism is not true?

As an aside I do not the Book of Mormon says in Moroni 10:4:

It does seem to me the Book of Mormon is asking us to pray if it is “not true” and we will find out the truth that the Book of Mormon is “not true” if we pray about it.
We ( catholics, protestants, anglican and orthodox ) have already been saved and we have the holy spirit, so what else could we possibly be recieving from this “book of mormon”…? It’s simple, we don’t need it…

As you know, Mormons believe that Christianity is Apostate; so what you call “the God of Christianity” is actually the God of “Apostate Christianity”. 😃
Zerinus:
Finally you have spoke truth about the Mormon belief: “the God of Christianity is actually the God of Apostate Christianity.” I agree that your god is not the God of Christianity.

You said, “Mormons believe that Christianity is Apostate.” I have no doubt this is a true statement.

The deception arises when Mormons claim they are Christian. Thank you for clarifying this issue for us, and thank you for being honest about your Mormon beliefs.
What that means is that Mormons worship the God of the Bible. I don’t know what kind of a God it is that you worship.
**ZERINUS: **

My God is the great “I AM”; the “God of Abraham,” the “God of Isaac”; and the God who speaks against false prophets.

Exodus 3:14 (ESV): 14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

Genesis 28:13 (ESV): Jacob’s Dream 13 And behold, the LORD stood above it and said, "I am the LORD, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring.

Deuteronomy 13:1-5 (ESV): 1"If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, 2 and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’ 3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

4 You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him. 5 But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has taught rebellion against the LORD your God. . .

Ezekiel 13:1-21 (NIV): 1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 "Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to those who prophesy out of their own imagination: 'Hear the word of the LORD! 3 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! 4 Your prophets, O Israel, are like jackals among ruins.

5 You have not gone up to the breaks in the wall to repair it for the house of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the LORD. 6 Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. They say, “The LORD declares,” when the LORD has not sent them; yet they expect their words to be fulfilled. 7 Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, “The LORD declares,” though I have not spoken?

8 " 'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because of your false words and lying visions, I am against you, declares the Sovereign LORD. 9 My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.

10 " 'Because they lead my people astray, saying, “Peace,” when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash, 11 therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth. 12 When the wall collapses, will people not ask you, “Where is the whitewash you covered it with?”

13 " 'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: In my wrath I will unleash a violent wind, and in my anger hailstones and torrents of rain will fall with destructive fury. 14 I will tear down the wall you have covered with whitewash and will level it to the ground so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it ** falls, you will be destroyed in it; and you will know that I am the LORD. 15 So I will spend my wrath against the wall and against those who covered it with whitewash. I will say to you, “The wall is gone and so are those who whitewashed it, 16 those prophets of Israel who prophesied to Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her when there was no peace, declares the Sovereign LORD.” ’

17"Now, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people who prophesy out of their own imagination. Prophesy against them 18 and say, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the women who sew magic charms on all their wrists and make veils of various lengths for their heads in order to ensnare people. Will you ensnare the lives of my people but preserve your own? 19 You have profaned me among my people for a few handfuls of barley and scraps of bread. By lying to my people, who listen to lies, you have killed those who should not have died and have spared those who should not live.

20 " 'Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds. 21 I will tear off your veils and save my people from your hands, and they will no longer fall prey to your power. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

mormons worship the god who lives near a star called Kolob. This god bears no resemblance to the God of the Bible. We worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of Truth and the First Person of the Blessed Trinity, of which mormons are not familiar.
Mormons believe in the God of the Bible, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They believe in the Jehovah of the Old Testament, and in the Trinity of the New Testament—the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Needless to say, they don’t believe in the absurdity of Trinitarianism which has no basis in scripture.

This is shocking but honest at least. I hope people scanning this thread come upon it and ponder on the words.

When I spoke to the two LDS missionaries, and they of course explained to me about the Great Apostasy, I asked them about the Church Fathers, who preserved the teachings of Christ well into today. Their eyes glazed over, and they said that, “they tried hard, but it wasn’t enough.” It was clear that they had never been asked this, nor more likely that they had ever pondered such a thing.

As I say to Muslims, we can see consistent Christian doctrine from the time of Ignatius (who knew the apostle John) in the first to second century, all the way up to Saint John Damascene in the eighth century, some 600 years later. Apostasy? History tells us otherwise.

That is a long story. Many threads have been started before on this board on the subject of the Apostasy. If you intend to discuss that subject, then I suggest you pull up one of those threads, and enter your comments there. It would be a distraction to discuss it here.

So mormons believe in the God who is a “perfected man”, who is a God of flesh and bone and who lives on a planet near the star Kolob?" And if you cross all the Ts and dot all the Is, you can be just like him? This is the teaching of your premier “prophet” is it not? If you say otherwise, you are not telling the truth. If so, then this is not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that we find in true scripture. You can’t have it both ways zerinus. Either you believe in the God of the Bible or the god of Joseph Smith. mormonism is schizophrenic if thay think that they can somehow believe in both, because they are contradictory. False prophet, false doctrine, false “scripture”, false religion.

A star called Kolob? What in samhill is that? LOL…Is that in the Klingon Empire? or perhaps Romulan? I hope it’s not in the Ferengi Star System because those little buggars are hardcore! lol

I know, sounds like a joke, but that is what they believe. They would like you to believe it too!

RebeccaJ, am I not telling the truth?
Facsimile No. 2

Fig. 1. Kolob, signifying the first creation, nearest to the celestial, or the residence of God. First in government, the last pertaining to the measurement of time. The measurement according to celestial time, which celestial time signifies one day to a cubit. One day in Kolob is equal to a thousand years according to the measurement of this earth, which is called by the Egyptians Jah-oh-eh.

Fig. 2. Stands next to Kolob, called by the Egyptians Oliblish, which is the next grand governing creation near to the celestial or the place where God resides; holding the key of power also, pertaining to other planets; as revealed from God to Abraham, as he offered sacrifice upon an altar, which he had built unto the Lord.

Fig. 3. Is made to represent God, sitting upon his throne, clothed with power and authority; with a crown of eternal light upon his head; representing also the grand Key-words of the Holy Priesthood, as revealed to Adam in the Garden of Eden, as also to Seth, Noah, Melchizedek, Abraham, and all to whom the Priesthood was revealed.

Fig. 4. Answers to the Hebrew word Raukeeyang, signifying expanse, or the firmament of the heavens; also a numerical figure, in Egyptian signifying one thousand; answering to the measuring of the time of Oliblish, which is equal with Kolob in its revolution and in its measuring of time.

Fig. 5. Is called in Egyptian Enish-go-on-dosh; this is one of the governing planets also, and is said by the Egyptians to be the Sun, and to borrow its light from Kolob through the medium of Kae-e-vanrash, which is the grand Key, or, in other words, the governing power, which governs fifteen other fixed planets or stars, as also Floeese or the Moon, the Earth and the Sun in their annual revolutions. This planet receives its power through the medium of Kli-flos-is-es, or Hah-ko-kau-beam, the stars represented by numbers 22 and 23, receiving light from the revolutions of Kolob.

Fig. 6. Represents this earth in its four quarters.

Fig. 7. Represents God sitting upon his throne, revealing through the heavens the grand Key-words of the Priesthood; as, also, the sign of the Holy Ghost unto Abraham, in the form of a dove.

Fig. 8. Contains writings that cannot be revealed unto the world; but is to be had in the Holy Temple of God.

Fig. 9. Ought not to be revealed at the present time.

Fig. 10. Also.

Fig. 11. Also. If the world can find out these numbers, so let it be. Amen.

Where did you get this funky info, Rebecca? Pretty “out there”…

Sounds like something Dan Aykroyd would say in a Cone Heads movie!

I am! LOL…nice to see so many people have read Dune! yipee! Too bad you didn’t like the Katherine Jefforts Schiori pics on the other thread! LOL
Nonsense, I just prefer the Thomas More method of confrontation rather than the Martin Luther method. 😃

Well just call me Brother Martin! 😉 I always did like the way he nailed those 95 theses. I just nailed up some Katherine Schiori comical pics. The lady is just begging to get laughed at for corn sake! Live a little, wolf! 😃 I admire your ethics actually. I was being naughty.

This is actual Dan Akroyd dialog. However, Dan was mislead in thinking that this was actual Conehead language. It is actually an obscure dialect of Serbo-Croatian.
Partial translation:
Raukeeyang: Outhouse.
Oliblish: Stop annoying my goats.
Enish-go-on-dosh: My mother-in-law shaves daily.
Kae-e-vanrash: A skin condition caused by not wearing undergarments:
Floeese:He neglects to flush the toilet.
Kli-flos-is-es: You have disgusting breath.
Hah-ko-kau-beam: Let us drown Witches in the pond.

To be absolutely correct, I must confess
that this is actually Reformed Serbo-Croatian, just so that zerinus does not accuse me of intellectual sloppiness.😃
