How many Catholics think this way?

Let me remind my Catholic brothers and sisters of something here. The 4th Degree Knight is based on Patriotism. I am a patriot, as in soldier…honorably discharged. Your attempts to make coach stumble is way off base in that this country was based on Christian Moral Principals. That’s not the problem… People are sinners. Many people of all faiths here have pushed towards the lies of self-distruction. Catholic, Protestant, Muslims, Jewish, etc. This is not a good argument to get into.

I’ve been so engrained in my own culture that this never really crosses my mind. I have to admit, because of my Protestant rearing I hesitate to hand over full governmental authority to Rome. Power corrupts some people. We just know who and when until it happens. So I have to say I do hesitate to allow this to happen. But I don’t see the Church ever really doing that in our life or the future. So the question becomes meaningless…

There is lots of tension between many groups for many different reasons. It’s best to calm things down and appraoch things more peacefully. Everyone gets angry. some just hide it better than others.
are you a 4th degree? So is my dad. I only went to 3rd degree.

My eyes were indeed opened, thats why I left. You may have fallen asleep again. Thanks for the offer though.
Now what anti-Catholic rhetoric did you read that made you beleive your eyes were opened. I came to this conclusion over a lifetime of studying scriptures…over and over and over again. Nothing makes sense outside of the one holy catholic and apostolic church belief. John 6, all of it. You must have been raised during the time the church really flopped on teaching us. There will be many people to answer for that one. But I pray for them all the time. Things are changing it seems to me. But Some people need more time to learn. Take your time.

I’m planning to go through 4th Degree in September if nothing gets in the way…family, wife’s, new career, broken arms, etc. I felt that when I came back home I could try to be a good Catholic instead of all these knuckleheads I run into all the time… With that said, don’t think for a moment I don’t see the same knuckleheads walking around with a puffy wig carrying a big bible like they know more. I dealt with that when I was being Catholic… nearly became one of them myself…so much so that my own protestant wife started threatening to leave. Then I realize the flaw in it all… Now that she’s Catholic she is the happiest I’ve ever seen her. She doesn’t sit back and let dumb people get away with dumb things. She calls them on it…nicely…but she calls them on it. And she is very timid at being verbose. She’s a jewel…our pastor says that he loves that she doesn’t play games. Same reason I fell for her…pretty was an added benefit. But nothing in looks really lasts forever… She’s a tough cookie. Love her very much. I’ve never seen her more happy…and at peace. Her anxiety is so high that she’s afraid to offend her aging mother, 82,and has opted not to tell her that we are Catholic… Talk about awkward.

…good noight…going to sleep.

Me too, its late…God bless

In my case Protestant teachings drew me away from the Protestant churches in my family is full of diehard presents some of whom are former Catholics. My experiences with my own family pushed me TO the Catholic Church. Why do I keep hearing Protestants referred to the Bible as “my Bible” I don’t get that. Anyway on another note thank you for your service to our nation.
Peace of Christ be with you

I have not seen that term…my Bible…it is usually referred to as THE Bible.

When protestents take books out of “The Bible” in order to make “it” work, “it” is “my bible”. Then, it is incomplete just like a jig saw puzzle missing pieces.

Protestents by the millions are being lured to destruction by false prophets like Billy Graham. The whole concept of saying a prayer one time and being saved forever because of that incantation is right out of the pit of hell. Satan uses that to whisper in their ears saying “go ahead and sin all you want, you are saved”

OSAS, sola scriptura, sola fide, Jack Chick all the same thing.

Billy Graham…hmm…saving millions of souls…yeah false prophet. He makes much mreo sense than…well…you know. That is not what the OSAS is about. I personally believe we are all saved OSAS by the death and resurrection of Christ. What we do with this truth will determine our eternal effect. I dont remember Billy Graham teaching people to go out and sin because they are saved.

Not only is Billy Graham not a false prophet, he is also not anti-Catholic. He is a holy man - a man that many Protestants would do well to emulate.

There are probably many things you haven’t seen, and I believe Aydan as a credible witness to his own experience. I believe the implication is something like that Protestants believe they have a stranglehold on correct and true Bible version (like KJV, etc), as well as the interpretations of the Sacred Scriptures. They don’t abide by the way God truly set things up, but would prefer it as they want to interpret, claiming formal sufficiency of Sacred Scripture such that anyone who can read, can interpret correctly the Word of God as given to humanity through Jewish prophets and also the Holy Spirit inspired Catholics, like Peter, Paul, Matthew, John, etc.

Indeed…what the other poster said is just another sterling Catholic example

So opened you feel a need to come to a Catholic forum to convince yourself you made the right decision.

I dare say you charge is actually reflective of YOUR church. God did NOT set things up the way you wish He did, and backward design theology is not enough.

NIce try…but I suggest you be careful of the personal attacks, ok? Dont feel bad because I can actually think for myself and see the Truth. Maybe so opened to come back and awaken others.

Evidently he waited 1,500 years to create your denomination and then, becuase it was so much fun,he deisgned several thousand others. When one is Proestant they can find just aboutt any kind of theology they want and find a denomination that supports just about any kind of behavior they want. If that fails they just start their own. In your case you made a quantum leap going from the Church is the final authority to “I” am the final authority.

LOL. Since your “authority” is usurped, I dont see any logic to your argument. It presumption is that the papacy is licit, which it is not. SO nothing else that follows off of your false premise can make logical sense.

Imany conservative Protestants whose dislike of abortion and even birth control would put most Catholics to shame!

I live in a city which is overwhelmingly Catholic, yet most Catholics here have about 2 children…compare that with many conservative Protestants, like this family for example:

duggarfamily.com
Ok, so i should have said “generally speaking”…
My husband is originally from a very conservative Baptist family, and there was a relative in his family that was actually shunned for remarrying after civilly divorcing his wife.
to me this is hypocritical because Baptists do condone divorce and re-marriage… at least most of the ones i know…
You cannot lump all who call themselves Protestant into one group and say they are all like that.
and you can’t lump all Catholics together either… Like i said, i should have said “generally speaking”…

Even M. Luther de-cried the sorry state of affairs in the world that his new “religion” brought about… all the lawlessness… and it just gets worse every day…

authority is usurped?? no comprendo…

It is presumption that the papacy is licit?? Who says… You??

So you are the pope???

i think that is hwat Protestantism is all about… It started out with one man not wnating to be submissive to the pope (M Luther) and it has ended up that way… M Luther had some legitimate gripes, but he let his ego take over… He got a lot of attention from people who also didn’t wnat to be bound by the strictures of Christianity… (true Christianity)… He even said himself that things were better when the papacy “ruled”…

Actually nothing, not even the papacy “rules” humans… Humans make their own decisions… They have free will and are more than happy to use it or abuse it…

It hs ended up with everybody beleiving they are the Pope.
