Hello. I would like to know how many minutes you all drive to go to your parish? And is this just on Sunday? How many times during the week also do you go there?

Thank you so very kindly.

Our parish is about 10 blocks away from our home. We often walk!

I do not drive but it takes me 3 minutes to walk…it’s healthier! 🙂

I walk as well, the church is only about 15 minutes walk away, were very lucky to have a church so nearby, the next one is a 20 minute drive away.

About a 10 minute drive. My parish is absolutely amazing, and it just happens to be the closest. However, I have many friends who pass more than one legit Catholic church in order to go where they feel called to be.

I go to daily Mass when I can escape work on time. Just depends on the week- sometimes every day, other times just Sundays.

My parish has at least two Masses every single day, and most have more than one priest, at the very least a priest and deacon. And our parish isn’t even that big. I love my church!

About a 3-5 minute drive (5 if I catch that darned light) 7 days a week. Can’t walk though–drop child off at school before daily Mass and go with family Sunday Mass and it’s a pretty busy road. I have an absolutely awesome parish and several people I know pass many other parishes to attend ours.

30 min. to the nearest Catholic Church…in-between there are at least…I do not exaggerate…100 or more protestant churches!

I wish I could walk to my Church, but it’s about a 25 minute drive downtown where mine is located. There is a Church about a 6 minute drive away, but I only go there occasionally when I have multiple things going on and time is an issue. I wish my Church was closer because like I said, it is downtown and my Husband also works downtown 5 days a week and we use more gas/spend more money. Having said that, I am not going to stop going there because I really love my Church!

At home, mine is less than a block away, it’s on our street- but my dad and I often drive because it’s up a very steep hill! Not easy in heels.

Here at college, it’s right across the street, which rocks.

Seven minutes. But as soon as I try to count on that, I find myself walking in for the “8:35 Mass”! This seemed to be the norm, when my kids were small… not a good way to get the pastor to more readily recognize you! 😛

The one nearest to our home is about 3 minutes away, but the one to which we belong is about 7-8 minutes away. We spent two years driving 30 minutes to church because we’d moved and couldn’t stand to part with the church and all the people we’d grown close to.

It’s probably 5 minutes from the time the car leaves the driveway until entering the church parking lot.

That’s on Sundays. On weekdays it takes a lot longer because there is an elementary school in between and it takes five to ten minutes just to go the few yards from one end of the school to the other. There’s no way to go around that doesn’t involve passing another school and trying to make a left turn onto a busy road.

2 minutes from my driveway to the Church door. I’d walk but it’s all downhill to get there and all uphill to get home. That’s the East Bay Area for you.
These old knees object!

I am lucky. I live only 1.5 miles from the parish. It normally takes me less than 5 minutes. Right now it is taking me more since some of the roads are torn up.

Great question.
7 minutes if I drive 🙂
10 minutes if my husband drives 😛

My sister lives in NYC and is literary 2 minutes from her church. Agh! Lucky Dog!

There is a Catholic Chruch close to us but they are getting into a lot of liturgical dance, etc. We just feel called to a different type of worship so we drive a little farther to get our Sacred Chants in.

I LOVE our parish!

10 minutes to drive and when I get my other knee done I am going to be a walker - it will be a 30 minute walk but I will be bound and determined!

AND in answer to the other question - three times during the week…teach CCD on Monday nights, two 12 step meetings I started there during the week and I go to Mass before each of those activities ‘just because’…

20 minutes - as long as we don’t get behind a slllooooowwww driver (with tourists, it happens) - that can push it out to 30 minutes.

I looked at the poll results, and I was surprised at how many people live so close to their churches! In rural areas, you’re likely to be miles and miles away. I drive 2-3 minutes to get to mine – if I was just a little more able-bodied, I could walk there. 🙂

To answer the second part of the quesiton, we are there twice on Sunday (during the CCD term) - morning for CCD and evening for Mass. Each Wed evening DS attends Youth Group. So, at least 3 times per week - some weeks more for special events, meetings, etc. During lent we attend Friday Stations of the Cross each week…
