I’m a life long Catholic…am truly impressed by those of you who are seekers…coming from many places. God bless all of you , you are courageous in your seeking.

raises hand

I was a baptized Lutheran. When it came to the Eucharist, I read the discussions between Catholic views of the Eucharist and the Lutheran views. I have to say, the Catholics made more sense in what they said. I was starting to learn about the Lutheran faith, but decided to do a comparison to Catholic beliefs after talking with a Catholic friend of mine. This forum got me started towards learning the faith I had been called to from the very beginning.
This is so cool. Welcome 🙂

And welcome aboard to the other 4 (according to the poll, as of this message).🙂

I started asking questions on here as part of my research and journey back to Catholicism 🙂 I was pointed in the direction of the Lanciano eucharist miracle when I asked why people were Catholics and not Muslims hehe 😉
I know that I need God in my life and Catholicism is the truth, so everything is great! 🙂 I’ve got a lot of passion for life through Jesus and I am doing lots of good work like a masters degree, helping the poor and hoepfully becoming a poker player - all the surplus cash goes to the poor 🙂

Going through a dry spell, reading this thread is making my day.👍

Here’s the thing. I have never seen on any thread Tweety stick up for anything Catholic. 90% of her posts cheer on anyone who attacks the Catholic Church. The other 10% are her personal issues with Catholic teaching. Then she comes here and says Catholics are pointing fingers. Look at the number of her posts. And she says CATHOLICS are finger pointing?

Here’s another point. If you go to the Evangelization threads, vocation, family life, etc threads, there is virtually NO argumentation. It’s the non-Catholic religions and politics threads, which by their nature, are argumentative.

If that’s all you visit, that’s all you’ll see.

I personally know at least four people who came here within the past year who came into the Church from being on the Evangelization threads. A couple of them started of being trolls, and changed due to the charitable response.

Here’s a link to one great young lady who admitted to being a troll at first.

Zundra

Love the kitten.🙂
yeah, i’ve had nothin but problems from T Mom… but Zundra… i’ve had contact w/ her when she w as methodist… and i could sense she was more open to catholicism than certain others, even though i also sensed she was a troll… That name is kinda funny… troll… makes m think of a mischievious little shrivled up man under a bridge… but i guess that’s kinda the point… (?) never knew what it meant until someone… (I think) explained… i guess its someone who tries to mess things up?? :o

Praise The Lord!

I know one who just came into the Church Yesterday; Pentecost Sunday.👍🙂
i thought everyone came inot the Church on Easter… hmmm…

i am still learning about the Church…

:o

The feeling is mutual. Oh my! There I am being rude again. My apologies.
maybe we should start the Rude Poster’s Club…

I’ll be president…

not cuz I’m the rudest poster on CAF…

bu mostly cuz I am probaby the most hated… 😃

but … hmmm… I seem to recall some historical figure who was also hated quite a bit… :(but now lots of people seem to think he’s kinda ok… 🙂

not enough… but… uh… more than back in those days… maybe… :o

I’ve only made two or three threads, but this forum really helps. It shows that even in non-tangible “place” like the internet, the Holy Spirit can reside. I’ve been doing a lot of research and reading, and the major question I had (concerning the Eucharist) was effectively answered by the people on this site.

So far, in the nine weeks I’ve been attending mass, and the months and months I’ve been studying and praying, I haven’t seen anything malicious about the Church, and this site reaffirms that strongly.

I really was wrong about Catholicism, and I’m so glad that the Lord has shown me the truth.

But no, this site hasn’t convinced me to convert, but it sure is one strong tool in the Lord’s belt.
i dont quite u/stand…

are you thinking of converting?

or you just dont see anythin seriously wrong with the Church? or both?

The feeling is mutual. Oh my! There I am being rude again. My apologies.
i like that… uh… whatever you call it at the end of your posts…

about being a nuisance to everyone else…😃

how do you get a picture or quote or both to show up on your posts??

Really? You don’t agree with the Catholic teaching on the Trinity? You don’t believe in the Bible? You don’t believe in the Ten Commandments? How have you been treated and why? Could it be you NEVER have anything nice to say about the Church? You come to a Catholic Forum, and all you do is vent about what you disagree with and why Catholics are wrong. I support this forum financially. Does that make me a better person? NO. I think CAF is a good outreach to all people, even if they disagree. The idea is to share and learn. Whenever someone disagrees with YOU, you take it as a personal attack.:amen:

Did I ever tell you otherwise? Maybe others have, but don’t direct this at me, because I never said I have a better chance of being saved than you have. Never.

The reason I respond to your posts at all, is I care about YOU. Yes, really, I do. :hug1:That’s why I take the time to respond and not ignore you. I know you have legitimate issues with some members of the Church. I have told you I was praying for you. I meant it. I also want to make sure your posts don’t keep other people from learning. At one time, you had your religion identified as “Catholic.” I thought that was misleading, and am glad you changed it to more accurately reflect your religion.🙂

So, why are you here? I’d appreciate and honest answer, not a flip accusatory, sarcastic one-liner. Maybe you really don’t know. That’s ok. Personally, I think the Holy Spirit brought you here, as He has many others, and I am very grateful for that.

If my post offends you, I’m sorry, that’s not the purpose at all. :imsorry:

Blessings.:highprayer:

PS, there are some posters who are very rigid, I don’t like it, but they have as much right to speak their minds as you do. Most have been very kind and patient.

Go to Baptist.com if you want a real example of lack of charity, in the name of Jesus.
thanks… I was looking for some excitement!! 😃

Because I want to be here and for friendship. I have made a lot of friends here that I am in contact with daily. Well most of them are friends.

There are a lot in the CC that I agree with and a lot I don’t. If it is a good out reach even to those who diagree with, why are you always on my case. When I find something I agree with I will do so.👍
objectively speaking, one cannot find fault with absolute truth…

subjectively, i realize you dont think the Catholic Church teaches absolute truth…

but… objectively speaking, that is not the case…

I would’t say that CAF has chased me away from Catholicism, but it has exposed considerable prejudice - even bigotry - among Catholic posters here. I guess I was expecting a less judgmental attitude, but have found far too much ignorance, bitterness, and pomposity. The enemy is neither Protestantism or Catholicism, but those who are determined to chase all religion from the public square and bring an end to the freedom of religion in America.
Code:
The supposition seems prevalent here is that ecumenism means 'returning to the Mother Church' while most Protestants I know think of ecumenism as friendly relations without anybody feeling compelled to abandon his/her particular interpretation of Christianity. As long as Catholicism keeps pressing the 'one, true apostolic and infallible church' button it will be suspect by many millions of fellow Christians.
this post leaves me… flabbergasted…

in my experience it is the Protestants who do not want to let go of their beliefs in order to get along… Wait a minute!!

i must be tired… No, i AM tired… that didn’t come out right…

i meant that it is (in my world) obvoius that Protestants refuse to … .put aside (meaning: dont bring up all the time) their doctrines and beliefs so as to get along with Catholics.
i have gone to many Prot social gatherings just for fellowship but as soon as i tell people i am Catholic… i get this weird… coolness…

so i just stopped going…

so much for ecumenism…

i ask my daughter to put it up for me. 😃
would she do the same for me?🙂

i dont want the exact same thing…

i would probably use the quote… “Be open-minded, but not so open-minded your brains fall out.” or something like that…

seems a lot of folks these days have not heeded such advice… 🤷

or some quote by some awesome saint… like Ronald Reagan… 😃

Thank you very much.

Yes, I agree with your assessment 100%.

If there ever was a post in which Tweety cheered on an orthodox Catholic I’ve never seen it. It’s only to non-Catholics or Catholics who disagree with our teaching that she sends her love.

Now, to be fair, I’ve put her on “ignore” for quite a while so it’s possible that she has since given the thumbs up to a Catholic who is not Protestant…🤷

But here’s my last post to her, originally posted here:

Now, you can come back with your standard proud rejoinders about being a “tough old broad” (I think actually your posts belie a wounded, hurting spirit, IMHO) or “I am not stupid” (incidentally, the only one who’s used the word “stupid” previously in this thread has been you 🤷), or “I really don’t care what you think” (the mantra of someone who actually gets offended quite easily) or “Thank you for judging” (actually, a very judgmental statement in itself!) but you will not be able to provide anything substantive to support your proposition.

While I have no doubt that you love God with your entire heart, soul and strength–God bless you for that!!–I believe that you have not pondered enough the command to “Love God with your entire MIND.” You seem to think it doesn’t really matter what we understand about God with our MIND as long as our heart loves him. This contradicts Scripture.

Anyway, I am done. In my many years on the forum and in my many dealings with lots of different folks I have put only one other lady on “ignore.” :sad_yes:

In order to get a quote to show up in your signature you have to go to Profile (at the top), then “control panel” then “edit signature” and then you can add your quote.

To add a photo:

If the picture is on a web server
(such as might be found via the Google Image Search):

To add an image to your post, the bb code is:

The image can be uploaded as an attachment to a post.
Below the post creation/editing box, you will find “Additional Options.”
In the “Attach Files” group, click the “Manage Attachments” button.
A pop-up window allows you to specify the file on your computer that you want to upload.
After specifying a path to your image file, click the “Upload” button.
A thumbnail of your attached image will then be automatically generated for display in your post.If the picture is on your personal computer:

sometimes posters will call others uncharitable just cuz they dont like what they are saying… its a form of ad hominem… very tiresome…
OMG, yes! I’d never thought about articulating it that way–but you’re right! When the argument becomes too close to the truth–which hurts sometimes–if you call the messenger “uncharitable” it makes you not have to focus on the message.
