I thought I would make myself feel better if I can find out how many of you are alone this holiday weekend?? It is Memorial Day holiday in the US. What do you do with your time? Have you ever felt like doing anything or nothing at all?? lol. Maybe this new thread can keep our minds occupied! 😃

Usually alone most of the time. Basically, I’m somewhat dysfunctional to the point that being with people generally ends up doing everybody’s own separate business, within a couple of yards’ distance but still separate. Makes it difficult to relate sometimes.

I don’t have a problem getting along with people. I am a very social person but I guess God has made me alone for a time for now. He wants me to rely on Him for a season. And I am doing that.

I am and I live a plain simple solitary life apart from when I’m at work.

This is a public holiday weekend in the UK too.

Today I’ve been really busy!

My day has been really busy!

At 6:30 I was washing clothes (by hand) because its a sunny day,I pegged them outside by 7:30. Then I had breakfast & came on here, then took some stuff to a charity shop, and bought a side table to go by my bed. The lamp didn’t really work well on the floor. Then I bought some socks! I don’t know where they all go!! I was looking for a wicker type box for clothes but didn’t find one today. They onto Tesco and bought a load of food, and a nice ceramic jar for teabags and a good cushion like a jumper I’ve been getting so much back ache coming to this forum on the laptop and its a lot more comfortable. Back home then I painted a wall that had become blistered by a faulty boiler and cleaned the kitchen. brought the washing in & had a lovely bath, so tired!

Oh yes,I bought a grill thing to cover the frying pan, supposed to stop the cooking oil splattering about which it does, BUT! It seemed to burn a little & my vegan sausages gave off smoke! Even the fire alarm went off & the hours smelled of smoke for hours!! Maybe I won’t use it any more!

The sweet cat came to visit & have a sleep on the sofa, but she’s gone back outdoors now:)

Pax vobiscum!

Oh my! You have been busy today!! Well, the only thing was drink a cup of coffee around 7:30 am and then I went to the shop for a few food items and then came home. I, then, had my second cup of coffee and read my scriptures. So, basically the rest of the day I did nothing! lol. And I didn’t feel like doing nothing! 😃

Speaking of cooking, do you know how to BBQ?? My fiance said he doesn’t know how. I heard it is just catching on in the UK.

Oh, I love cats!! I had to get rid of mine so I can be ready to move to the UK later on. I still think of him and miss him. 😦 Maybe when I 'retire" I can get another one. But for now, my fiance and I will be so busy with traveling and settling down that we won’t have no time for a pet. We love them tho!

If it makes you feel any better…my husband, myself and my daughter are all sick with head colds and it’s cold and raining out and will be cold and raining all weekend. 😦

I think I’d rather be healthy without this maddening head cold and celebrating this holiday by myself…then at home stuffed up with tissues and listening to everyone sniffle and blow their noses and complain about how awful they feel!

I am sorry that you and your family are sick! I hope you all get better soon!! I would love to go to Massachusetts! I love the lighthouses up there!

Come on up…I think the best time to visit Massachusetts is during the summer or the fall. Go down the Cape (best lighthouses in the state)…but for your own sanity, don’t make it a day trip. Too much traffic and not enough parking to make a day trip worth while. Stay for at least a few days and do it during the week.

Hi Becca,

That’s strange, BBQs have been in the UK since the 1970s
Well yes you just get some charcoal, a grill and burn the food, no? 🙂
You can get sealed ones you just have to open & heat up.
Remember I’ve been vegan for 20 years so I’d barbeque sweetcorn and delicious food like that 🙂

Well, maybe it is not being offered in the newest restaurants over there?? Yes, let’s all burn the food! 😃 But using sealed ones takes all the fun out of cooking food over an open flame! 😛 And I am a meat and potatoes kind of girl. I never been vegan. 🙂

Potatoes are good, I love potatoes, almost every day I eat them, all different ways. Jacket potatoes are good at BBQs!

How do you make Jacket potatoes?? We need a recipe forum here!! Or a thread!! Or a group! 😃

Speaking of potatoes with their skins on, I am presently reading a book about a recently canonized foundress of a religious order here in the USA. They were from France and were appalled by the fact that Americans ate potatoes with the skins on. 😃

What is a foundress?? France doesn’t eat potatoes with skins?? I love the skins!! They have the most vitamins in em!!

I’m alone. 😦 I’m a social person, but either my friends have duty this weekend, went home, or they are doing the family thing. I decided not to go back home because any day now I will be getting that email that my husband is headed home. NCAA Softball is on, so that is keeping me entertained. lol.

What is really keeping me entertained are ghost stories on the telly. I have tried to watch movies but they just don’t keep my mind occupied. Let’s just say I had an experience when I was a little girl and ever since then I been fascinated by the paranormal. lol.

A woman who begins a new religious community.

I love the skins too! 🙂 The people in France didn’t eat potatoes in the 19th century that way; I don’t know about today. Perhaps they have seen the light by now. 👍

Hi Kendra, You don’t have to be alone, you can join our club here 🙂

Yes Jacket potatoes just means cooked in their skins.

And with some nice vegan margarine on & maybe beans, mmm delicious!

Well, I do know in Ireland in the 19th century they ate potatoes in any way they can and still do. 😃
